FRICK, Switzerland — May 18, 2021 — In the textile industry, it might well be a unique idea. One of the world’s leading machinery suppliers has just launched its new website — in which the company’s renowned technology is firmly relegated to a back seat. Instead Jakob Müller Group is offering a fresh and innovative web experience which sets out its priorities with total clarity.

Of course, Jakob Müller is known worldwide as a manufacturer of systems and solutions for narrow fabric production. Its research, development and production of top technology has evolved continuously since its foundation in 1887. It’s designed to offer a welcome to memorable moments, enfolding the visitor in a pure-life experience which creates a lasting impression.

This welcome to Jakob Müller Group might be a surprise. But it signals the group’s wish to become part of the customer’s whole world, showing how it already empowers countless products used, without a second thought, in everyday life. The design concept uses discreet visual hints to point up awareness of some of these items we often take for granted.

Fashion, home textiles, automotive, medical and industry — all these are fields in which Jakob Müller helps to shape the future. And these sectors are used as anchors for website orientation, with red frames guiding the visitor through the wide application ranges. At a single click, users can find the best way to manufacture a specific product. Professionals in the narrow fabrics and ribbon industry can access detailed information on every aspect of their work. The range spans yarn warping to the finished product, crochet knitting to woven labels, and individual machines to complete system solutions.

Explore the right partnership

Jakob Müller Group is keen to show what its products and ideas can mean for everyone. Values such as quality, safety, customized and innovative solutions are at the core. As a service-oriented partner, the group is committed to ensuring that these aspects match the highest expectations. “Finally, the website should provide the answer if our technology fits the customers world,” said Robert Reimann, CEO at Jakob Müller Group.

Underpinning the whole story are solid principles of trust, experience, the famed Swiss precision and social and environmental responsibility. Together they make Jakob Müller the ideal partner, sure to prove its long-term worth and make a significant contribution to customers’ market success. “We would like to invite individuals to explore our website and find out why Jakob Müller could be the ideal partner for them,” Reimann said.

Preclinical Study Data Indicates That Celliant May Reduce Inflammation

LOS ANGELES — May 18, 2021 — Celliant®, infrared responsive technology from materials science trailblazer Hologenix®, has completed its 8th peer-reviewed published study.  Already clinically shown to increase tissue oxygen levels in the body for stronger performance, faster recovery, better sleep and to help with pain reduction, Celliant is shown in this study to moderate autoimmune and inflammatory response in rats with collagen type II-induced arthritis. Collagen type II-induced arthritis is the most common model for studying rheumatoid arthritis, the chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease.

According to the study, “Although further translational studies are warranted, the findings support the use of infrared-emitting bed linen, bandages or garments as adjuvant non-pharmacological treatments for rheumatoid arthritis patients, and possibly for those suffering from other inflammatory antibody-mediated autoimmune diseases.”

Published online in Scientific Reports under Nature.com on February 3, 2021, the study was conducted at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. Principal investigators included Jasmina Djuretić, Mirjana Dimitrijević, Marija Stojanović, Jelena Kotur Stevuljević, Michael R Hamblin, Ana Micov, Radica Stepanović-Petrović and Gordana Leposavić.  It was funded by the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia with support from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.  Investigator Michael R. Hamblin, who serves on the Hologenix Science Advisory Board and is a world-renowned expert on infrared and light therapy, was supported by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants.  Hologenix supplied the Celliant fibers.

The study began when 20 rats were immunized with type II collagen to induce arthritis in the animals. The rats were divided into two groups, one with bedding of Celliant fibers, which are produced with thermo-reactive minerals. The ceramic particles absorb body heat and re-emit the energy back to the body as infrared radiation, which is non-invasive and painless. The second group was housed in cages with standard wood shaving bedding.  From there, two sets of experiments were performed to evaluate autoimmune and inflammatory responses.

For the rats with the Celliant bedding, the symptoms of collagen type II-induced arthritis were postponed and the disease was milder in these infrared-exposed rats as opposed to the non-exposed. Objective biochemical measurements of cytokines, which are secreted by the immune system, and autoimmunity showed improvement as well.

“Science has shown that infrared increases blood flow, improves muscle recovery and can reduce pain,” said Dr. Hamblin. “This study is significant in that it shows that infrared and Celliant, in particular, can potentially reduce inflammation and mitigate autoimmune responses in a model of rheumatoid arthritis, which affects about 1.3 million Americans.”

“We believe that Celliant is a truly disruptive infrared technology that is revolutionizing the textile industry and that it is ripe for applications in the healthcare arena,” said Seth Casden, Hologenix Co-Founder and CEO.

Özak Teksti̇L Leapfrogs Towards Supply Chain Digitalization With Glengo And Gerber Technology

NEW YORK CITY — May 18, 2021 — For more than 20 years, Özak Tekstil has partnered with Gerber Technology and its Turkish distributor Glengo to transform its supply chain by integrating the latest technology so they can offer customers the best quality and lead time. The denim and knitwear manufacturer is once again relying on its trusted technology partners to revolutionize their supply chain by investing in Gerber’s latest innovation, the Gerber Atria™ Digital Cutter. The innovative, digital cutting solution will empower Özak Tekstil to remain competitive by helping them meet customer expectations when it comes to quality, price and time to market. The Atria cutter will also allow Özak Tekstil to shorten the production cycle while improving the overall quality of their final product, allowing them to better serve global premium brand names.

“Turkey could not manage the pandemic as well as other countries, but we are glad to see many European countries recovering as Europe is 70 percent plus of Turkey’s export,” said Mehmet Aykut Vural, CEO of Glengo. “Gerber Technology has always been the leader in cutting technology but the Atria is by far the best cutter they have ever introduced and will be a great asset for recovery in the European market.”

To survive in the denim and knitwear sector, Özak Tekstil understands how strategic it is to digitally transform in order to meet consumer expectations, such as quality and speed. With over 30 years of experience, Özak Tekstil had already been leveraging technology from design through the final product to cut 6,000,000 pieces per year at the highest speed with the best quality. With the investment in the Gerber Atria, the manufacturer will be able to better manage their supply chain by integrating the Gerber solutions they already have, including AccuMark® and AccuNest™. This will allow Özak Tekstil to accelerate time to market, improve quality and further reduce costs.

“We had already been working with Gerber and Glengo so we were pleased to see they were now offering a digital cutting solution that could cut high plies with maximum precision at a never before seen speed,” said Güven Yalvaç, Production Manager at Özak Tekstil. “It is extremely important for us to have Gerber and Glengo as partners in order to get continuous, timely support and ensure our machine is always up and running.”

The Atria cutter provides a more efficient and sustainable production environment for manufacturers with its ecosystem of software and hardware solutions. Since integrating the Atria, Özak Tekstil has seen significant throughput increases and a reduction in the number of markers, which has reduced cutting costs, opened the spreading table and enabled greater production. The solution will contribute to their smooth and problem free management of supply chain from order to production by enabling them to easily adapt to the sudden changes and uncertainties in the current business conditions.

COESFELD, Germany — May 18, 2021 — After such a long time, the team of the German textile machine manufacturer is looking forward to the fair in Shanghai and, above all, to the personal exchange with customers and business partners.

The portfolio of machinery is quite extensive in terms of fiber-, yarn- and fabric-dyeing. Offering sustainable solutions for its worldwide customer base, each machine type is from the outset designed to minimize the inputs and respectively the outputs.

However, Thies does not only concentrate on the machine design but also on developing intelligent software solutions to control the actual dyeing process. With the help of these so called ‘energy efficient functions’ its customers achieve enormous reductions of their water-, energy-, dyestuff-, chemicals- and utilities- consumption.

Modern dye houses further implement dye kitchens, as well as dosing and dispensing systems from Thies in their facilities. The fully automatic weighing, dissolving and provision of dyes and chemicals leads to exact dyeing results, maximum reproducibility, significantly increased occupational safety and tremendous time savings.

All machines, including the dispensing systems, the dye kitchen, the beam winding machines and/ or the heat recovery systems can be connected to MES systems and deliver important data which customers can use to improve their performances.

A unique selling point is, that Thies has already been open to connect systems from various control manufacturers — for the past centuries. Against this background, customers have nearly no technical limitations while choosing control systems or expanding existing networks.

Further requirements, like the semi- to fully- automated loading and unloading of our yarn dyeing machines are also possible.

To sum it up, Thies is offering best-practice solutions with the highest degree of digitalisation and automation.

Levi’s Largest Knit Supplier In Pakistan Expands Capacity With Tukatech

LOS ANGELES — May 13, 2021 — Pakistan-based Combined Fabric Ltd., a supplier of knit garments to Levi’s, is expanding its cutting capacity by adding a third Tukatech automatic high-ply cutter. TUKAcut 9.0 is from the line of ECO award-winning cutters that meet the requirements of apparel, PPE and uniform manufacturers in the Industry 4.0 era. The latest model for most productivity with zero buffers, cutting 9cm high compressed fabrics, and has been awarded most “Eco-friendly” for energy consumption (k/w/hour used). This is a big deal especially in countries such as Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and even parts of the United States where electricity costs of factories can be extremely high when running multiple shifts and demand for faster production is required.

“We saw how TUKA cutting room solutions reduced 80 percent of our staff in cutting room, improved our quality and eliminated useless steps. We really are a very happy users of TUKAcad, TUKA3D, CutPlanning, SMARTmark, automatic fabric spreaders and cutters, and unit production systems. We have almost everything TUKA offers and we are adding more systems only because we have seen the results,” said Sheikh Tariq Mehmood, director of Combined Fabrics. “We were automated with other CAD, spreading, and cutting systems. We know automation and we REPLACED ALL other so-called ‘automatic’ systems with Tukatech, became better friends, and continue to add more of their technology because we TRUST THEM.”

Combined Fabrics is a totally vertical company from yarns, to thread, to fabric, to garments, to finishing and dyeing, and even makes its own buttons and other trims. The two copanies started their partnership back in 2018 when Tukatech first visited their facility in Lahore, Pakistan. Ram Sareen pin-pointed inefficiencies within their cutting room operations.

“When Mr. Ram came to us and he saw what we were doing, and how we were doing it, he opened our eyes to what we were doing wrong,” said Atif Shaik, director, Combined Fabrics. Without implementing any systems at first and with guidance from Tukatech, Combined Fabrics saw a 7 percent fabric savings, immediate improvements, and cost savings.  With TUKA systems, Combined Fabrics saw their consumption reduce from 12 to 14 percent per garment.

Allseating Reveals Switzerland-Inspired Textile Collection By Emanuela Frattini Magnusson

TORONTO — May 13, 2021 — Allseating is pleased to announce today the launch of Engadin, a proprietary textile collection designed by Milan, Italy-born architect and designer, and President of EFM Design, Emanuela Frattini Magnusson. Engadin features three patterns; Dots, Grid and Bauhaus, which are all based on geometric shapes, a linear grid, a loose dot pattern and rectilinear color fields.

Engadin received its namesake from Frattini Magnusson’s explorations through the long high Alpine valley region in the eastern Swiss Alps, as she derives a majority of her design inspiration from her travels. The colorways capture a dynamic mix of greys, greens and aquas, yellow and red, which are reminiscent of summers Frattini Magnusson spent in Sils Maria in the Engadin. The granite of the mountains, the blue and green of the lakes, the yellow of the larch trees in the fall, and the red that shows up everywhere in Swiss signage, brought the entire collection together.

“It has been an honor working in tandem with Allseating on this collaboration,” says Frattini Magnusson. “It was an adventure getting to relive my travels while brainstorming with their team from an aesthetic perspective for Engadin — I really wanted to create patterns that would be complementary, yet distinctive for the brand’s products.”

The three patterns, Dots, Grid and Bauhaus, are different in nature and scale, and can stand on their own or coexist. The same approach is true for the respective colorways, as it was Frattini Magnusson’s goal to obtain a balance between an expected foundation of neutrals and a fresh clarity of harmonious colors. Each pattern has different “color balances,” which means that applying the same colorway to the three types of patterns results in three very different outcomes — however, there is a common thread that pulls them all together. The Dots pattern is more playful, freehand, and softens the rigor of the other two, whereas Bauhaus, depending on which colorway is chosen, can be very decorative and bold. Grid, in the same colorway, is more subtle and offers a balance.

The line’s durability (medical grade vinyl), antimicrobial properties (which maintains a soft touch), and competitive price point are standout features for Engadin compared to other proprietary textile collections on the contract market. As these were the guiding principles that delineated the boundaries for the product development process. For additional information please visit www.allseating.com or contact your local Allseating representative.
