Hologenix Introduces Pure White Celliant

LOS ANGELES — June 22, 2021— Materials science company Hologenix® announced that after years of work, its R&D team has found a way to embed its flagship product, Celliant®, into fibers that allows for those fibers to be pure white. This expands the potential applications of Celliant to crisp white bed sheets and towels, athletic uniforms and jerseys, baby clothes, medical scrubs and more, while maintaining its well-known wellness benefits. Making pure white possible also makes delicate pastel fabrics possible, or any color.

Pure white Celliant still captures and converts body heat into infrared energy, increasing local circulation, helping regulate body temperature and promote stronger performance, faster recovery and better sleep. Pure white Celliant is also still made from ethically sourced minerals from the earth and is available in nylon, polyester and recycled polyester fibers.

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve and bring new possibilities to Celliant’s infrared wellness benefits,” said Seth Casden, Hologenix co-founder and CEO. “Pure white Celliant delivers and we are very satisfied. The ability to offer our brand partners the same natural infrared wellness we’re known for, along with the possibility of any color fabric, including, of course, those stunning whites, is extremely fulfilling.”

“This new color offering is a testament to our global team’s dedication and talent,” said Courtney OKeefe, chief supply chain officer. “Pure white Celliant can be embedded in nylon, polyester and recycled polyester, while still retaining the natural characteristics of the polymer.”

Advanced Edgetek™ Chemically Resistant Materials From Avient Protect Against ‘New Normal’ Disinfection

CLEVELAND — June 22, 2021— Avient Corp., a provider of specialized and sustainable material solutions and services, today announced the launch of three patent-pending grades for the point-of-sale and consumer markets. The new Edgetek™ ET8900 CR series formulations feature outstanding chemical and crack resistance to common consumer disinfectants versus conventional alternative polymers such as PC/ABS, PC/PET, and PC/PBT.

These materials were developed in response to consumer and industrial market demands for materials that can withstand increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols. Formulations were tested using an adapted ASTM D543 method for environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR). Results showed that these materials provide better chemical resistance and property retention versus conventional PC blend alternatives after exposure to common consumer disinfectants, including Lysol® all-purpose cleaner, Formula 409® heavy duty degreaser, and Clorox® disinfectant wipes.

“The pandemic has given rise to more frequent cleaning and disinfecting, and this new normal is fueling demand for materials that can endure increased chemical exposure without degrading,” said Matthew Mitchell, director, global marketing, Specialty Engineered Materials at Avient. “This is especially true for public, high-touch surfaces that are being wiped or sprayed at increasing rates. These new grades offer application and design engineers a durable solution that reduces disinfectant-related failures, like cracking and crazing, so products and surfaces can last longer and look better.”

Available in unfilled, impact-modified, and flame-retardant grades, these formulations deliver performance that is comparable to PC blends and well suited to high-touch applications, such as point-of-sale devices. Additionally, all grades are available in a natural color, allowing molded-in-color options for a broad range of durable, consumer goods.

Edgetek ET8900 CR materials are available globally. The flame-retardant grade in the series is formulated to meet UL-94 rating 5VA at 3.0 mm and V-0 at 1.5 mm.

NOTE: Lysol® is a trademark of Reckitt Benckiser LLC; Formula 409® is a trademark of The Clorox Company; and Clorox® is a trademark of The Clorox Company.

RALEIGH, N.C. — June 15, 2021 — KNOLL America Inc., a supplier of conveyor and filtration systems, will create 31 new jobs in Gaston County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest more than $7.8 million to locate a new U.S. headquarters operations and manufacturing facility in Gaston County’s Apple Creek Corporate Park.

“We are excited to have another global manufacturer choose North Carolina for its headquarters,” said Governor Cooper. “This decision affirms our state’s reputation of having a strong manufacturing workforce and great quality of life.”

KNOLL America is the U.S. subsidiary for German-based KNOLL Maschinenbau GmbH. Founded by Walter Knoll in 1970, the company is family-owned and operated by second generation Matthias and Jürgen Knoll and globally employs more than 1,200 people. KNOLL engineers, manufactures, and distributes premier conveying, filter systems and pumps for chips and cooling lubricants used in the metal processing industry. Their flexible assembly and transport systems complete the KNOLL product portfolio. KNOLL serves customers of all sizes from OEMs to end users to smaller distributors. The 60,000-square-foot headquarters operations and production facility will include a state-of-the-art training area, showroom, warehouse and distribution center at the 12-acre site in Gaston County.

“We felt immediately very welcomed. Gaston County provides an excellent manufacturing environment for our needs. The close proximity to major interstates and airport allows us to service most customers within a day. We can engage with Gaston College in developing young skilled talent for our operation and support their apprenticeship program. The small-town community feeling is like the area where our Germany Headquarters is located,” said Lothar Burger, CEO of KNOLL America. “This investment is made possible because our owners Matthias and Juergen Knoll believe in our local team and the strength of the North American market. This venture is part of their international initiative within the KNOLL Group.”

The North Carolina Department of Commerce led a team of partners in supporting KNOLL America’s decision to locate to North Carolina. The new positions will include technicians, assemblers, sales, administrative and distribution roles. The average annual salary for the new positions is $51,869 creating a potential payroll impact of more than $1.6 million per year. Gaston County’s average annual salary is $42,018.

“Gaston County continues to attract foreign direct investment to the region with its successful global business community,” said N.C. Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders. “With North Carolina’s pipeline of world-class talent and a central location, we’re confident that KNOLL will continue to experience growth in North America.”

A performance-based grant of $75,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help facilitate KNOLL America’s expansion. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All One NC grants require matching participation from local governments and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.

“This is an outstanding economic development win for our manufacturing economy,” said N.C. Representative John Torbett. “We are eager to partner with KNOLL America as they execute their growth strategy in Gaston County.”

“We’re excited to welcome KNOLL America to Gaston County,” said N.C. Senator Kathy Harrington. “This is a celebration for all of North Carolina as another international company has chosen to invest in our community.”
