Reju And Goodwill Of The Finger Lakes Celebrate Rochester As A Hub For Textile-To-Textile Circularity

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — February 17, 2026 — Reju, the textile-to-textile regeneration company transforming post-consumer textiles into new materials, and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes gathered with dignitaries today to celebrate Rochester’s growing leadership in textile circularity highlighting how local partnerships are helping keep textiles in use, reduce waste, and create long-term economic and environmental value.

The gathering brings together Patrik Frisk, CEO of Reju, Jennifer Lake, President & CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes, United States Congressman Joe Morelle, New York State Assemblywoman Sarah Clark, Rochester Mayor Malik Evans, President & CEO of Goodwill Industries International, Steven Preston, and other regional leaders, reinforcing a shared commitment to building a circular textile system rooted in community impact, innovation, and sustained investment in the Rochester region.

Together, Reju and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes are strengthening efforts to keep more textiles in productive use, prioritizing donation and reuse, improving diversion of nonwearable textiles, and enabling next-generation textile-to-textile regeneration as the system scales. Their collaboration builds on a multi-year initiative launched in 2024 alongside WM advancing textile circularity across North America.

Patrik Frisk

“Rochester isn’t just where we’re building infrastructure, it’s where circularity becomes real,” said Patrik Frisk, CEO of Reju. “By working alongside trusted local partners like Goodwill of the Finger Lakes, the business community, and our government partners, we’re connecting community-based reuse with advanced regeneration technology to keep textiles out of landfills and create lasting value for this community.”

Reju recently selected Rochester as the site of its first U.S. industrial-scale Regeneration Hub, planned for Eastman Business Park. The future facility will take textiles that are heading for the waste stream and recycle them to produce rBHET that can be repolymerized into high-quality polyester for new textile applications. The project remains subject to a final investment decision by the board of Technip Energies, Reju’s parent company.

Goodwill of the Finger Lakes plays a critical role at the front end of the circular system, leveraging decades of experience in donation-driven reuse, resale and responsible end-of-life pathways for textiles.

“We are thrilled with Reju’s decision to locate their first U.S. regeneration hub in Rochester, New York, underscoring the city’s enduring role as a center of innovation. From Eastman Kodak to Bausch & Lomb, Rochester has shaped industries—and now Reju is helping to build the future of circular textiles here,” said Jennifer Lake, President & CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. “Reju will address one of the fastest-growing yet least understood waste streams in the United States: post-use textiles. Their breakthrough approach will divert discarded materials from landfills and transform them into valuable, sustainable resources, giving them new life. We are excited to announce that the Northeast Goodwill Circularity Hub, a collective of eleven Goodwills, led by Goodwill Finger Lakes, has signed an agreement with Reju to supply polyester-rich materials to the Regeneration Hub. We welcome the opportunity to partner more with Reju in the future.”

Congressman Joe Morelle said, “Reju’s investment is a powerful vote of confidence in Rochester and our ability to lead in the industries of the future. This project shows that sustainability and economic growth can go hand in hand, creating good-paying jobs while tackling some of the biggest challenges of our time. I’m proud that this next chapter of innovation is happening right here in our community.”

Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight said, “Reju’s innovative project and crucial partnerships further bolster Governor Hochul’s focused efforts to promote a circular economy. We have to continue to move away from the single-use, disposable model, and support projects that are working to reduce overall pollution, keeping resources out of landfills, boosting sustainability and generating economic growth and top-quality jobs.”

NYS Assemblywoman Sarah Clark said, “Today is an exciting day as the Rochester area becomes a leader in environmentally friendly textile regeneration. The partnership between Reju and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes shows how smart sustainability can also be smart economic development. This forward-thinking partnership will work to position Rochester as a hub in the clothing industry for waste reduction, circular manufacturing, and next generation sustainability innovation while creating good jobs and strengthening our local economy. I am grateful to all the leaders from across sectors who came together to make this project a reality and so excited to see Reju become a part of the incredible redevelopment at Eastman Business Park.”

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello said, “Reju’s expansion and new partnership with Goodwill of the Finger Lakes shows that Monroe County and the City of Rochester are leading the way in attracting innovative, sustainable businesses to our community. This project will generate quality jobs, strengthen our economy, and establish Rochester as a premier circular textile hub. I thank Mayor Evans and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes for their partnership, and Reju for their commitment to our community.”

Rochester Mayor Malik Evans said, “I am proud of the City’s Business Development team’s role in bringing Reju to Rochester, which will create good paying jobs for our residents, power the growth of Eastman Business Park as an international employment center and strengthen our economy’s position as an innovation hub in the growing waste reduction market. I look forward to welcoming the Reju team to Rochester and seeking opportunities to expand their local presence even further.”

Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce CEO and Co-Chair of the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council Bob Duffy said, “On behalf of Greater Rochester Chamber and its 1,300 members, we are proud to help welcome Reju to our Greater Rochester community! This significant investment from CEO Patrik Frisk and the Reju team will have a transformative effect on the historic Eastman Business Park, and signals a broader evolution of our community. Innovative technologies like those pioneered by Reju create meaningful jobs, sustainable solutions, and critical partnerships. We appreciate their investment in our region, and offer additional thanks to Jen Lake and the Goodwill of the Finger Lakes team for their partnership with Reju, helping to secure this investment, and for their continued leadership throughout our region.”

Greater Rochester Enterprise CEO Matt Hurlbutt said, “We are pleased that Reju chose Rochester, NY, for its first North American operation, drawn by the region’s exceptional assets and advantages, particularly the opportunity to partner with Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. Rochester delivered a winning combination of an innovation-driven workforce and the unique infrastructure assets at Eastman Business Park to support Reju’s strategic goals for building a textile regeneration hub. GRE is proud to help Reju connect to regional partners and assets to accelerate the company’s growth plans.”

Goodwill Industries International President & CEO Steven Preston said, ““For nearly 125 years, local Goodwill organizations across the country have been leaders in unlocking the value stored in used goods for the benefit of their communities. When Goodwill Industries International formed a partnership with Reju and WM in 2024, we saw a pioneering new opportunity to continue that longstanding tradition by leveraging textile recycling to support local Goodwill community programs. Today marks a key milestone in achieving that vision, as Reju and a collective of 11 Goodwill organizations across the northeastern U.S. announce a program to supply Reju’s first-ever industrial textile Regeneration Hub in the U.S. with materials for recycling.”

Reju’s regeneration technology, developed with IBM Research, transforms post-consumer textile waste, starting with polyester, into high-quality regenerated materials. Reju’s regenerated polyester is expected to have a 50% lower carbon footprint than virgin polyester and is engineered to be recyclable multiple times.

By aligning community-based reuse with industrial-scale regeneration, Reju and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes are helping position Rochester as a cornerstone of the emerging circular textile economy in the United States.

Hyosung Presents Fall-Winter 2027/28 Textile Trends

SEOUL, South Korea — February 18, 2026 — Positioning material innovation at the center of future -forward apparel design, Hyosung TNC’s Fashion Design Center (FDC), which is an interactive fashion studio that spans the U.S., Europe, and Asia renowned for analyzing progressive brands and retailers while researching consumer insights, has unveiled its forecasted FW 27/28 Textile Trend report.

The report embraces three major macro trends – Corps-Core, Quiet Consumption, and Circular Fashion.

Corps – core

Consumers are embracing a boundaryless lifestyle where work, social time, and light outdoor activity blend seamlessly, driving demand for wardrobes that transition effortlessly from commute to evening and beyond. As a result, Corps-Core has evolved from classic office tailoring into a versatile FW 27/28 trend, merging clean, tailored aesthetics with performance-driven functionality for everyday mobility and outdoor engagement.

Quiet Consumption

Amid inflation and economic uncertainty, consumers are shifting toward value-driven spending, prioritizing affordability, and cutting back on unnecessary purchases. In fashion, this has fueled the rise of discount, resale, and ultra low-cost online brands. Style conscious shoppers are seeking trend-forward looks at lower prices rather than splurging on status-driven consumption.

Circular Fashion

Circular fashion applies closed-loop principles to the industry by designing out waste, extending garment life through reuse and repair, and recycling materials back into new products. As environmental concerns grow, consumers are increasingly embracing resale, rental, and recycled materials—prompting brands to expand circular-focused collections and systems.

With these insights in mind, FDC predicts the four following themes and sub-themes for apparel brands, which highlight Hyosung’s broad range of CREORA® multi-functional, and certified sustainable regen™ brands of spandex, nylon and polyester yarns.

  • Winter Essential – Core winter activewear for functional mindset
  • Office Ready Tech – Versatility to office daily wear
  • Relaxed Outdoor – Built for comfort, ready for active
  • All – Round Recovery – Single fabric, infinite intimates

More detailed information on Hyosung FDC’s FW 27/28 Textile Trends will be presented in a weekly Trend Byte series featured on the Hyosung Performance Textiles blog beginning February 23, 2026. These textile trends will also be presented at Performance Days Munich, March 18-19 and Functional Fabric Fair, Portland, OR, April 7-9, 2026.

Circ Announces New Fiber Club Partners to Accelerate Commercial Adoption of Recycled Textiles

DANVILLE, VA — February 18, 2026 — Circ® , a global textile‑to‑textile recycler, announced the scaling of its Fiber Club initiative. Building on the success of the inaugural program, Circ is bringing together a new group of brand partners: the lifestyle brand Madewell (under J.Crew Group), sustainable fashion brand Reformation, and European retailer C&A, alongside supply chain partners Lenzing and Linz Textil.

First launched in January 2025 with Bestseller, Eileen Fisher, Everlane, and Zalando, alongside supply partners Arvind, Birla Cellulose, and Foshan Chicley, Fiber Club is addressing minimum order quantities and pricing challenges that have historically limited the adoption of new materials. By aggregating demand across pulp, fiber, and yarn stages, this first-of-its-kind roadmap for scaling next-gen materials is helping brands move from pilot testing to commercial product launches and long-term material commitments.

Each brand within this cohort is developing collections using TENCEL™ | Circ® with REFIBRA™ technology, made with 30% Circ pulp sourced from recycled polycotton textile waste. Circ provides the recycled pulp, which Lenzing converts into TENCEL™ | Circ® with REFIBRA™ lyocell fibers. Linz Textil spins the fibers into yarn, and each brand nominates its own fabric and garment manufacturers to ensure smooth integration into existing supply chains. This model allows brands already working with Lenzing fibers to adopt Circ materials easily while expanding Circ’s network of manufacturers capable of producing circular textiles at scale.

Fiber Club supports brands as regulatory pressure, commercial requirements, and consumer expectations are accelerating the circular transition. In the US and Europe, proposed extended producer responsibility (EPR) policies are an early sign that brands will need to begin taking greater responsibility for textile waste and invest in recovery and recycling systems. Collectively, these shifts are reinforcing recycled materials as an increasingly important business priority, driving demand for scalable, commercially viable solutions that can be easily integrated into existing supply chains.

“With Circ’s technology proven, the next phase of scaling is to lower the barriers to commercialization, ” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ. “Brands are increasingly facing pressure from the market to reduce waste and use better materials, and there’s a shared understanding across the industry that the status quo can’t continue. The Fiber Club model operates within existing manufacturing systems to address the costs and complexity that have held brands back, making circular materials viable today.

The 65th Edition Of Filo Closes Performing Good Results

BIELLA, Italy — February 12, 2026 — The 65th edition of Filo, the International Yarns and Fibres Exhibition, has closed today in Milan achieving good results.

The main innovative element distinguishing Filo65 was represented by the closer synergy with Lineapelle. A very positive and profitable synergy was created with the leather goods exhibition, as proven by the large number of visitors who saw both exhibitions, thus gaining a more complete overview of the textile industry’s proposals for the upcoming season.

Visitors’ flow over the two days of Filo65 has been constant, despite this has been a special edition due to the concurrence with Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games, which caused some logistical problems. Exhibitors brought high quality collections, appreciated by national and international buyers for their contents related to style, innovation and research.

On the second day of the 65th edition, Filo received a visit from Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE), who said: ‘Textile industry is an important sector of our economy, as example of style and creativity: an excellence that combines quality and tradition in Italian products. Strengthening the competitiveness of our companies in the global market means rejecting the concept of fast fashion, which is an affront to rights and nature’, said the Minister. ‘The government is pursuing an innovative path on extended producer’s responsibility. MASE has prepared a draft regulation for textile supply chain, whose adoption is currently in progress, and it will apply to post-consumer urban waste. Companies will thus be directly involved in the end-of-life stage of what they produce.’

As explained by Mr. Pichetto: ‘The Ministry has adopted specific measures for the eco-design of products, sustainability and circularity in the sector. We are working to promote innovation and the use of low-impact fibres, moving away from unsustainable raw materials.’ According to the Minister of the Environment: ‘Italy is leading the world in the transition of textile and fashion sectors: therefore, the direct involvement of companies throughout the whole production cycle is the key to the success of the supply chain, protecting those who operate in compliance with high standards and against unfair competition.’

As an international exhibition since its inception, Filo has accompanied its growth process with increasing internationalisation. In the process leading to continuous and selective growth in foreign buyers and exhibitors, Filo can count on the constant collaboration of ITA – Italian Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalisation of Italian companies and the Piedmont Region.

The collaboration with ITA-Agency has brought here a delegation of 25 buyers, mainly from European countries – France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Hungary and Finland – and from the fastest-growing areas of Asia, such as India and China. ITA – Agency has also renewed its sponsorship of Made in Filo project for this edition.

Ten buyers from Finland, France, Japan, Ireland, Portugal and the United Kingdom took part in the ‘Buyers Days’ organised by Ceip, the Piedmont Region’s Regional Agency for Internationalisation and Investment Attraction, as part of the activities of the Piedmont Region’s Integrated Textile Supply Chain Project (PIF) “Textiles” of the Piedmont Region, funded by the PR FESR 2021-2027.

Paolo Monfermoso, Head of Filo, declares that: ‘Despite the challenging context, the 65th edition closed with positive results. Filo confirms its status as a leading trade fair, thanks to the high quality of its products and the professionalism and practicality of its visitors. This result was not a foregone conclusion because, despite signs of improvement, the industry continues to be affected by the uncertainties caused by the international geopolitical situation, in addition to minor logistical inconvenience caused by Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games. For this reason, we chose to strengthen our synergy with Lineapelle, which yielded excellent results, offering visitors a broader view of the textile supply chain’s capacity for innovation, creativity and sustainability.

In relation to research and innovation, I would like to highlight the great interest shown by visitors for the third edition of Made in Filo, the collection of fabrics entirely designed, produced and manufactured by Filo, made by using yarns provided by exhibitors and processed by implementing the best manufacturing techniques. As far as sustainability is concerned, we are cooperating with CLASS by Giusy Bettoni, which allows us to offer a vision of the topic focused on responsible innovation, with concrete experiences and case histories, starting with the InsideOut by C.L.A.S.S. project, which aims at giving visibility to less visible parameters in the textile and clothing industry, from ethics to traceability and transparency, from health to circularity.’

Monfermoso also adds that: ‘We are honoured to have received a visit from Minister Pichetto Fratin, who visited the booths to admire the style and creativity of exhibitors’ proposals. During the Opening Ceremony of the 65th edition of Filo, we talked a lot about the supply chain and the added value it ensures to companies and their competitiveness in the markets, as Paolo Barberis Canonico, President of Unione Industriale Biellese, pointed out in his speech. This theme was also addressed during the Dialoghi di Confronto, held over the two days, as a sign of how collaboration and synergies within the supply chain are seen as an essential element for this industry’s future.’

Monfermoso concludes saying that: ‘After two days of intense work, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of Filo65: the companies and buyers, Lineapelle and in particular Fulvia Bacchi – CEO of Lineapelle, the institutions that support us, first and foremost ITA- Italian Agency and the Piedmont Region with Ceipiemonte, the speakers who participated in the Opening Ceremony and in the Dialoghi di Confronto, and the partners who collaborated for the creation of Made in Filo. See you in September for Filo66.’

The 66th edition of Filo is scheduled to be held on the 15th and the 16th of September 2026 at Fiera Milano – Rho.

Huixing Machine Co., Ltd. Acquires Insolvent Mayer & Cie.

ALBSTADT, Germany — February 10, 2026 — Insolvency proceedings against Mayer & Cie., a German manufacturer of circular knitting and braiding machines, were initiated on 1 December 2025. Immediately after the insolvency proceedings were opened, the entire business was shut down. Most employees were then given notice of termination at the end of February 2026. The plan is to complete the production of the  remaining orders in the circular knitting by the end of the month.

Mayer & Cie. headquarters in Albstadt.

In December 2025, Mayer & Cie.’s braiding machine division was sold to an Italian investor. Now, with Huixing Machine Co., Ltd. Shishi, a buyer has been found for the circular knitting machine business at the last minute. The Chinese machine manufacturer will take over selected assets, including the property in Albstadt and shareholdings, including the two subsidiaries of Mayer & Cie. in China and the Czech Republic. The purchase agreements were signed on Monday.

Huixing Machine Co., Ltd. Shishi is based in Shishi City in Quanzhou, a center of the Chinese textile and engineering industry. Huixing manufactures and sells high-quality knitting machines and develops the associated intelligent software. The company employs around 1,000 people in research and development, manufacturing, sales and customer service at six production sites. Huixing is one of China’s leading companies in the textile and engineering industry.

According to its own statements, the buyer intends to resume production of circular knitting machines at the Albstadt site once the purchase agreement has been completed. The completion of the purchase agreement is still largely dependent on granting the necessary official approvals, including the approval from the relevant Chinese authorities for foreign investments and a clearance certificate from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. As things stand at present, the purchase agreements are expected to be completed within approximately six to eight weeks. In the period between signing and closing, the buyer also intends to finalize the concept for the new company.

Mayer & Cie. specializes in the manufacture and sale of circular knitting and braiding machines, which are almost entirely exported and are valued by textile manufacturers worldwide. The company is owner- managed in its fourth generation and operates in a market that is currently characterized by considerable turbulence. Mayer & Cie.’s turnover slumped dramatically, leading to financial difficulties, with the result that the company was forced to file for insolvency under its own administration in September 2025; proceedings were opened on 1 December 2025. As no investor for the circular knitting machine division could be found after an intensive international search, business operations are planned to be shut down after a short period of organized production wind-down until the end of the month.

Experienced restructuring lawyer Martin Mucha from the law firm Grub Brugger has joined the company as general representative and, together with his team, is supporting the management in the self-administration proceedings. He comments: “With the sale of the assets of Mayer & Cie.’s circular knitting division to Huixing, we have found a prospect for the planned resumption of business. It is good news for the location that operations are to be ramped up again in the future. The investor not only brings financial resources to the table, but also excellent business relationships, particularly in Asia, but also worldwide, from which Mayer & Cie. can benefit. I am delighted that, after intensive efforts in the final stages, we were able to achieve this result.”

Ilkin Bananyarli, a lawyer at PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH, was appointed as trustee for Mayer & Cie. He says: “All parties involved showed tireless commitment, but the M&A process did not initially lead to an investor solution. This makes this last-minute turn of events all the more gratifying. This is a very welcome outcome for this long-established company and its creditors.”

“We had been searching intensively for an investor for Mayer & Cie. for many months, which initially seemed unsuccessful. Despite the announced closure, we continued our search and our efforts to realize the assets at full speed. The assets, know-how and brand should not be lost. The fact that we were able to interest Huixing in Mayer & Cie. and ultimately convince them is a great success for all of us,” explains Volker Wintergerst of Wintergerst Societät für Unternehmer-Beratung, who accompanied the investor process together with his colleagues Christian Scharfenberger and Simon Ulmer.

The Hechingen Local Court opened insolvency proceedings under self-administration on 1 December 2025. In contrast to regular insolvency proceedings, this means that entrepreneurial responsibility remains in the hands of the management. At Mayer & Cie., this support is provided by restructuring expert Martin Mucha. In self-administration, the competent local court does not appoint an insolvency administrator, but rather a trustee who supervises the proceedings in the interests of the creditors. Lawyer Ilkin Bananyarli from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH was appointed as trustee for Mayer & Cie.

Trützschler, Toyota And Murata At Zirve Tekstil — Perfect Quality Through Collaboration

MÖNCHENGLADBACH, Germany — February 10, 2026 — In today’s textile industry, excellence is not achieved by chance – it’s the result of deliberate decisions, technical expertise, and the courage to go beyond conventional paths.

From left to right: Erhan Tenekeci (General Manager Zirve Tekstil) and Ahmet Öztürkmen
(Trützschler Türkiye Sales Engineer).

The Turkish company Zirve Tekstil has done just that: by combining the best technologies from Trützschler, Toyota and Murata, they’ve created a production setup that delivers outstanding yarn quality – recognized worldwide.

A strategic choice for excellence

“We knew a one-brand setup might be easier,” says Erhan Tenekeci, the company’s General Manager. “But our goal was to stay competitive, which meant choosing the best in every category, Trützschler for fiber and spinning preparation, Toyota for roving and ring spinning frames and Murata for winding.”

Perfect quality from the start

Excellent quality in yarn manufacturing starts with spinning preparation. The Trützschler bale opener BO-P, for example, gently opens the fibers and ensures best possible blending from the start. The Pre- Cleaner CL-X outperforms the competition with its outstanding cleaning efficiency while significantly reducing the loss of good fibers. All in all, Trützschler’s blow room solutions lay the foundation for consistent quality and economy in yarn manufacture.

The intelligent card TC 19i, equipped with SUPERTIP wires from Trützschler Card Clothing, contributes further to unmatched sliver quality through the automatic gap optimizer T-GO, which is only available from Trützschler. The card also features WASTECONTROL, which prevents any unnecessary fiber loss. In the combing stage, the TCO 21 Comber stands out with its dual-drive technology and automatic piecing optimization, delivering uniform quality across all eight heads – even at high speeds. It also enables top quality at low noil levels. Together with the high performance draw frames TD 9T and TD 10, these Trützschler spinning preparation machines form a tightly integrated system that transforms raw cotton into a perfectly prepared sliver, thus creating the basis for further processing.

In the roving stage, four Toyota FL200 Roving Frames ensure high-quality rovings even at low twist levels – a key factor for downstream performance. Twelve Toyota RX300 Ring Spinning Frames provide exceptional stability and precise spinning geometry. As Erhan Tenekeci, General Manager of Zirve Tekstil, explains: “Despite being limited to 1824 spindles, Toyota’s compact ring machines produce more and higher-quality yarn than even the longest machines of competitors. Their performance, combined with low maintenance and high adaptability, gives us a clear edge.” The final step is handled by the Muratec FPRO EX Automatic Winder, seamlessly connected via Coner Link. This setup ensures smooth yarn transfer, minimal contamination, and consistently high winding quality – completing a process chain where every detail is aligned for excellence.

Quality that speaks for itself

The mill produces 18.5 tons of premium combed ring yarn daily in counts of Ne 20, 24, and 30, primarily for knitting applications. Although the focus lies on utilizing locally grown cotton – which typically comes with greater variability in fiber properties – the mill successfully produces yarns that are in high demand both in local markets with stringent quality requirements and on international export markets. This commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed: Pinter, the provider of the OptiFil system, has recognized the mill for achieving the highest efficiency among its Turkish benchmarking network with lowest yarn breakages – a clear indicator of the outstanding fiber preparation. This achievement is a testament to the effectiveness of combining top-tier machinery from Trützschler, Toyota, and Murata.

Collaboration without compromise – The best of all worlds

This project proves that integrating machines from different manufacturers can be done – and done well. The planning phase was smooth and collaborative, with all partners working hand in hand. The result: a production line that is more than the sum of its parts, with each machine contributing to one shared goal: perfect yarn quality.

It’s a powerful example of what’s possible when openness, technical excellence, and strategic thinking come together. By selecting the best solution for each step – regardless of brand – the mill has set a benchmark for modern spinning. “The best from every machine, for the best from every fiber.”
