DONG NAI PROVINCE, Vietnam — October 3, 2019 — In pursuit of its goal to be the preferred global supplier of industrial sewing thread, embroidery thread, and technical textiles, thread maker and portfolio company of Elevate Textiles, American & Efird (A&E), celebrates the completion of its 28th global manufacturing facility with the grand opening ceremony of its new Vietnam site.

Strategically positioned to provide expanded services and regional support for apparel, footwear, handbags, and other sewn products in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, A&E’s newest manufacturing site supports its commitment to produce premium quality thread products in the most sustainable manner. This new site aligns the company with the tremendous growth of the sewn products industry in this region and provides the ability for future expansion.

“Vietnam is an important country for the textile and apparel sewn industry,” said A&E President Chris Alt. “It is the second largest exporter of apparel to the United States and one of the largest global producers of apparel and non-apparel products. Setting up in Vietnam with manufacturing is very strategic to our future growth.”

The new state-of-the-art facility is conveniently located in Nhon Trach Industrial Park 6, Dong Nai Province, South Vietnam, A&E’s newest state-of-the-art expansion is 37 km from Cat Lai port, 50 km away from Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City and less than 20 km away from Long Thanh Airport.

Construction of A&E’s Vietnam facility began in June of 2018 and was completed and operational on June 1, 2019, adding more than 150 new jobs to the region.

Evolution St. Louis Announces Bruce Goldman Named New Director Of Operations At Its High-Tech Knit Factory

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — October 2, 2019 — Evolution St. Louis today announced it has hired Bruce Goldman as its first director of operations. Goldman brings decades of experience in the manufacturing industry and will lead operations at the company’s high-tech knit manufacturing facility at 3830 Washington Blvd.

“I am very excited to join the Evolution St. Louis team to help make St. Louis an industry leader in advanced knitting and manufacturing,” Goldman said. “As director of operations, I will be overseeing everything from the yarn shipped to the factory to the completed products going out to customers.”

Goldman began his career at his father’s knitting mill, teaching himself how to operate electronic knitting machines and later traveling to Germany to be trained to use STOLL’s high-tech flatbed knitting machines.

AMETEK Surface Vision Strengthens Leadership Team With Several Key Appointments

Ben Wileman has been promoted to the new role of division vice president and business manager for Surface Vision. Moving from his last role as division vice president – global sales and marketing for Surface Vision and its sister business, AMETEK Land, Wileman will now focus on growing Surface Vision’s business through the application of AMETEK’s four core growth strategies of global and market expansion, new products, operational excellence and acquisitions.

Formerly the director of operations at AMETEK Land since 2015, Tarry’s continuous improvement and specialist supply chain experience will transform operational efficiencies across both companies’ manufacturing operations.

Prior to joining AMETEK, Tarry held senior operational and supply chain transformational roles at ABB and has a Higher National Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Doncaster Technical College. Like Ben, Alan is an AMETEK-certified New Product Growth Kaizen Facilitator and has facilitated several AMETEK operational and new product events.

Charged with developing strategy to remain competitive in current markets while identifying diversification opportunities, Mike Hevey has been appointed division vice president – engineering and product management. Joining Surface Vision from SEASPAN Shipyards in Vancouver, Hevey will implement an effective engineering structure to develop and support the world leading SmartView® and SmartAdvisor® surface inspection and monitoring systems, identify new product opportunities, manage the product lifecycle and introduce new products to the market.

Hevey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, and a Master of Business Administration degree in Engineering and Industrial Management from the University of Loughborough.

Finally, Jason Zyglis will assume responsibility for global sales as division vice president of sales and project management. With a deep knowledge of Surface Vision products and applications, Jason will lead the sales and project teams in addressing complex customer challenges as well as implementing a customer-first culture across the organization.

Continental Structural Plastics, A Teijin Group Company, Breaks Ground On Facility In Seguin, Texas

AUBURN HILLS, Mich — October 1, 2019 — Continental Structural Plastics (CSP) — a global supplier of highly-engineered, composite vehicle components — broke ground today for a manufacturing facility in Seguin, Texas. This new facility, located near Interstate 10, Rio Nogales Drive and 8th Street, is expected to be fully operational by 2021.

CSP and its parent company Teijin, are making a capital investment of approximately $70 million to construct the 200,000 square-foot facility, which is being built to support future growth and to help the company maintain its competitive advantage. The facility will result in the creation of 200 production, engineering and administrative jobs. This location will become CSP’s 19th global manufacturing facility, its 14th in North America, and the Teijin Group’s 25th global composite component manufacturing facility.

“We continue to see growth opportunities for our advanced composite and multi-material components globally, so we’re making sure we have the manufacturing capabilities necessary to meet our customers’ needs,” explained Steve Rooney, CSP CEO. “We are truly grateful to the State of Texas, the City of Seguin and Guadalupe County for the support we’ve received in initiating this project, and we look forward to being an active member of the Seguin community.”

CSP selected the Seguin location for its newest manufacturing plant based on a number of factors, including availability of a skilled workforce, proximity to a number of customer and potential customer facilities in Texas and surrounding states, and a variety of incentives and abatements offered, including a land grant and tax abatement from the City of Seguin, and a Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant from the State of Texas, in exchange for specific capital investment and workforce commitments by CSP.
