Inspired By DuPont™ Sorona® Fabrics, Bedding Thought Leader DesignWeave® Launches Plant Purity™ Collection

WILMINGTON, Del. — September 25, 2019 — The DuPont™ Sorona® business continues to drive thoughtful discussions and meaningful collaboration across industries to drive real change.  Inspired by conversations around how the slow food and slow fashion movements can influence each other to drive a more circular economy, Tracy Miller, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing, DesignWeave®, launched Plant Purity™ down alternative, a naturally inspired sleep solution. The bedding collection that debuted at the New York Home Fashions Market Week on September 16-19, 2019, includes pillows, comforters and mattress pads that connect the rejuvenation of sleep with the nurturing forces of nature as part of her movement toward a healthier planet.

Made from 37 percent plant-based ingredients, certified USDA bio-based DuPont™ Sorona® fill provides a suite of remarkable performance benefits alone or in combination with other traditional bedding fibers. The unique molecular structure at the heart of Sorona fibers creates an exceptionally soft feeling with resilient loft that maintains its coziness night after night. By blending Sorona fill with Lyocell in the current Plant Purity™ down alternative line, there is remarkable sustainability value, optimized moisture management and supreme softness.

“It all starts from the ground up with this next-generation, plant-based sustainable bedding experience,” explained Miller. “In the spirit of the slow food, slow fashion movements, I envisioned a comfort-driven, high-quality down alternative fill made from renewable resources with a low carbon footprint. I love this fun and accessible ‘farm-to-bed’ line where consumers will enjoy a comforting feeling not only from the performance of the product but from the peace of mind in helping make a difference in building a sustainable world.”

DuPont Sorona fill is an innovative, partially plant-based polymer that designers choose to create exceptional insulation products with long-lasting performance. It is an ideal choice for jackets, pants, gloves, hats, as well as sleep products.

“The trend across apparel and now bedding is to blend Sorona fill with other natural fibers to provide lightweight, breathable warmth, outstanding fill power performance, and great compression and recovery,” said Laurie Kronenberg, DuPont™ Sorona Brand Representative. “As Tracy and I discussed industry trends and how we could parallel the slow food and slow fashion movements, Tracy’s wealth of technical expertise and unique vision in the bedding category has led to this collection of new Sorona fill-based bedding solutions.”

Under Armour Teams Up With Aptos To Deploy Groundbreaking Technology At Annual Charity Event

ATLANTA — September 24, 2019 —  Aptos Inc., a supplier of retail technology solutions, today announced its successful participation in Under Armour’s recent Hometown Sample Sale that took place July 19-21 in Baltimore.

Under Armour’s Sample Sale, now an annual event in the Baltimore community, provides an opportunity for the public to purchase exclusive and discounted Under Armour performance apparel, footwear and accessories.

To support this large-scale pop-up style event, Aptos technology was utilized to ring over 7,000 transactions with 47,000 items sold in less than 36 hours. As a long-time user of Aptos’ point of sale solution, Under Armour augmented its existing POS capabilities during the Sample Sale with the Aptos ONE™ Store Commerce mobile selling application.

As Aptos’ first patent-pending solution offered on the Aptos ONE platform, Aptos ONE Store Commerce removes all dependencies on store servers and internet connectivity, allowing retailers to process transactions anytime, anywhere on locally resilient mobile devices.

The decision to deploy Aptos ONE Store Commerce during the Sample Sale took less than six weeks from ideation to implementation, demonstrating the unprecedented speed to market of the new technology offering. According to Gerald Charles Jr., Under Armour’s vice president, global IT operations and strategy, the fast rollout and adoption of Aptos ONE was a significant advantage.

“One of the most exciting aspects of Aptos ONE leading up to the Sample Sale was how quickly we were able to stand it up,” Charles said. “During the event, we received extremely positive feedback on Aptos ONE from our interns, who we call Rookies, who were the ones engaging customers and ringing transactions.

“The consensus from our Rookies was that Aptos ONE Store Commerce is intuitive, requires very minimal training, and is designed in a way that removes barriers between associates and customers, resulting in seamless, sophisticated, and efficient interactions,” continued Charles. “Despite this being Under Armour’s first experience with Aptos ONE, we ended up ringing approximately 70 percent of the Sample Sale transactions on the mobile selling application via Wi-Fi, and the remaining 30 percent on our fixed POS terminals.

“The Sample Sale was a success all around. Under Armour made a meaningful contribution to their hometown community, our Rookies got hands-on experience in customer engagement, and we had a successful deployment with Aptos ONE, reaffirming once again that Aptos is our trusted technology partner for in-store innovation.”

The materials are specifically designed for comfort and breathability, providing a close fit and ease-of-wear, while simultaneously delivering a controlled dose of medicine to the problem area.

Founded in 2011, Nufabrx was created by founder and CEO Jordan Schindler after discovering his pillowcase was contributing to his acne. Teaming up with MIT scientists, Jordan spent seven years developing proprietary technology to embed active ingredients into yarn itself to make medicinal application easier and more efficient. The patented platform offers a controlled release of the active ingredients into the skin and is proven effective for up to 25 machine wash cycles.

This covers not only the area of digital product development but also the connection to both mass automated and on-demand production.

“A seamlessly integrated platform will allow users to not only see pretty pictures but be able to produce garments right away, drastically reducing the development cycle times,” said Mary McFadden, vice president of CAD Product Management at Gerber Technology. “Our customers can use their own patterns to simulate in 3D, make as many fit adjustments as needed without having to use any DXF, which is a real game changer. With 12.2, we’ve added required features that are going to strengthen the connection with not only YuniquePLM® and our Smart Machines, but also with digital printers, enabling our customers to meet every challenge.”

“Our integrated platform uniquely offers the flexibility, speed, and agility that our customers need now in order to compete and thrive,” said Karsten Newbury, chief digital strategy officer, Gerber Technology. “Our focus is singularly on the success of our customers so they can tackle the burning topics in the industry including fit, sustainability, and the need for personalization. This requires a tightly-integrated data solution. We’re continuing our aggressive roadmap with the release of AccuMark 12.2, which is going to add great value to our end-to-end platform.”

AccuMark 12.2 has been designed to fully empower the industry by enhancing Gerber’s end-to-end platform through an improved digital print workflow, several new 3D capabilities that will improve fit assessment, and offer better communication among partners and team members.

AccuMark 3D 12.2 also includes major improvements in 3D simulations. Our integrated 2D/3D solution provides the most efficient workflow for validating patterns during fit and style development. Patternmakers can seamlessly simulate patterns while making pattern corrections, even on graded sizes.
