Livinguard Technology Proven To Kill >99% Of COVID Delta Variant

SAN JOSE, Calif. — October 19, 2021 — Livinguard, the Swiss-based international leader in sustainable self-disinfecting hygiene technology, announced today that its technology has been proven to kill the Delta variant of COVID 19. Tests carried out by the renowned IRSHA institute showed that the inner and outer layers of masks supercharged with Livinguard technology have an average >99 percent effectiveness with no recovery of viable viruses against the Delta variant of SARS COV-2.

These results come as positive news as communities continue battling the Delta variant outbreak, and who will be able to rely on Livinguard capabilities for their population’s health and safety. It is expected that children, who have been particularly exposed to the Delta variant, will benefit the most from this breakthrough. The confirmation of Livinguard technology’s efficacy against the Delta variant also comes in context of an expected rebound of COVID cases during the winter season.

Livinguard also announced today that the effectiveness of its technology could be applied to different substrates. Such capabilities come as a unique opportunity for the many industries, such as airlines, apparel companies, hospitality, healthcare, logistics or transportation. The technology offers an opportunity to help these industries to responsibly open their services with an additional layer of protection for their customers and workforce.

The data announced today add to the extensive body of evidence from researchers at the Free University Berlin and the University of Arizona proving that Livinguard technology can continuously destroy 99.9 percent of pathogens (microbes) such as viruses and bacteria, including influenza, Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, tuberculosis and E. Coli bacteria, staphylococci and salmonellae.

Speaking about the positive results received today, Sanjeev Swamy, Livinguard CEO, said “The news of our technology’s effectiveness against Delta is another evidence that Livinguard technology is future-proof and will emerge from the COVID pandemic as the hygiene technology of choice for sustainable self-disinfection moving forward. As consumers continue to resort to masks for specific situations, we expect Livinguard masks to become consumers’ preferred, sustainable, self-disinfecting facemask.”

Recycling And Waste Solutions Company PreZero US Is Expanding Operations In Oconee County, S.C.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — October 5, 2021 — PreZero US, a recycling and waste solutions company, today announced plans to expand operations in Oconee County. The $11.5 million investment will create 32 new jobs.

With state-of-the-art recycling facilities, PreZero US provides end-market solutions to waste generators and collectors. The company’s facilities convert plastic and organic waste into valuable raw materials and commodities.

Located in Westminster, the company’s expanded facility will have the capacity to process 40,000 tons of plastic material per year. The rigid material originates from material recovery facilities which collect residential and commercial waste, and the film is primarily sourced from retail businesses. The end products of the process are high-quality resins that are sold to manufacturers in an effort to develop a circular economy for materials that are typically sent to landfills.

The expansion is expected to be completed by fall 2023. Individuals interested in joining the PreZero US team should visit the company’s careers webpage.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Oconee County a $100,000 Set-Aside grant for costs related to the project.

“We are excited to be building our facility with the community of Westminster. We have been operational since 2019, and this is only the beginning. We have made significant investments into the region and we are happy to provide stable, long-term employment opportunities for the surrounding community that will allow us to grow together,” said PreZero US CEO Hernan de la Vega.

“We congratulate PreZero US on today’s announcement and look forward to the company’s increased presence in Oconee County. South Carolina’s business climate continues to provide the resources needed for companies to be successful, and we are happy to have great firms like PreZero US call South Carolina home,” noted Governor Henry McMaster

“PreZero US has been a great asset to South Carolina and our recycling industry. We congratulate and thank PreZero US on their latest investment. This type of commitment demonstrates their confidence in Oconee County and the Palmetto State,” said Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III.

“PreZero US’s investment in Oconee County will make a lasting impact on our community. Their expansion of an additional 32 jobs for our residents is a commitment to their confidence in our workforce. We congratulate PreZero US,” said Oconee County Council Chair John Elliott.

INDEX™ 2020 Exhibitor Preview: Reifenhäuser Enka Tecnica

TROISDORF, Germany — October 19, 2021 — Reifenhäuser Enka Tecnica will exhibit its wide range of replacement components for spunbond, meltblown, and composite lines at the world’s leading nonwovens trade show INDEX in Geneva (booth 2638) from October 19 to 22, 2021. The highly specialized custom manufacturer offers high-end technology “Made in Germany” that is 100-percent compatible with all globally installed lines.

Producers of nonwovens worldwide rely on Enka Tecnica components to manufacture products for complex applications in hygiene, medical or filtration to provide them with access to new profitable markets. Trade show visitors will gain a detailed insight into the entire range of products, from meltblown and spunbond spinnerets to meltblown cassettes and complete meltblown spinning beams designed with an energy concept optimized for sustainability. The outstanding quality of die tips and capillaries assures consistent product quality and precision, allowing producers to meet their tolerance specifications reliably and avoid scrap at the same time.

“We manufacture all components precisely to customer specifications to guarantee their seamless integration into existing line technologies,” explained Wilfried Schiffer, managing director of Reifenhäuser Enka Tecnica. “Our components help producers to increase both product quality and profit on their lines. It doesn’t always have to be a new component either —  a refresh can often be the more economically feasible and sustainable choice.”

With its refresh service for refurbishing used components, Enka Tecnica not only offers a cost-efficient alternative to new parts, but also extremely fast delivery times, a factor that is often decisive to maintain daily production targets. Visitors to Geneva will be able to see the quality of refresh components displayed at the booth – a meltblown and a spunbond spinneret, half of which has been refurbished. They will be able to see the condition of the capillary holes before and after the refresh through a microscope.

Another trade show highlight includes jet strips for hydroentangling nonwovens. Depending on the application, they are offered in Smart, Advanced, and Premium versions and have a special unique selling point — the strips are fully hardened, whereas competitor products usually only have a hardened surface. This quality advantage results in significantly longer service lives, which is why they are also known on the market as “The World’s Hardest Strips”.

Rudolf HUB1922 Launches OFFUEL At Kingpins

GERETSRIED, Germany — October 19, 2021 — Petroleum — like natural gas — is a very important raw material for fuels and for the petrochemical industry. Almost all consumer goods require crude oil as part of the manufacturing process. However, petroleum forms over millions of years and is a finite resource. “It is very urgent for all players in the textile supply chain to start thinking of alternative, renewable raw materials,” said Alberto De Conti, head of Marketing and Fashion Division at RUDOLF GROUP. “From this perspective, chemical companies that are often perceived as a problem, are in fact a big part of a possible solution.”

RUDOLF HUB1922 unveils the  OFFUEL product series, a progressive array of chemical auxiliaries for denim finishing consisting, by at least 90 percent, of alternatives to crude oil and/or components based on recycled materials.

The RUDOLF HUB1922 OFFUEL range is made of 11 finishing auxiliaries. All the 11 chemical agents are either existing, selected solutions, or brand new RUDOLF’s technologies.

Available, renewable raw materials are the common denominator throughout the RUDOLF HUB1922 OFFUEL range and those renewable sources do not compete with human and/or animal nutrition, nor they compete with the production of any fuel. The renewable raw materials being used can be grouped into 5 different families:

  1. Substances of botanical origin;
  2. Substances of biological origin, or produced through biotechnologies;
  3. Salts, water, basic acids and alkalis;
  4. Substances recycled from waste of biological origin; and
  5. Substances recycled from plastics — either post-consumer, or industrial waste.

RUCOGEN® UPCYCLE RNB is the crown jewel within group #5. It’s a dispersing agent, specific for denim washing, based on chemically recycled, PET plastic waste. It’s about the upcycling of post-consumer, disposable PET plastic bottles into valuable textile chemistry.

The RUDOLF HUB1922 OFFUEL range is a complete toolbox of chemical auxiliaries for wet denim processing. The range is first to market and it is:

  • An instrument for wide creativity: a large array of looks is possible (from dark to light)
  • Reassuring: all products were cleared by bluesign® -which makes them also ZDHC Gateway Level 3 – and all are compliant with the Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®.
  • Progressive as the chemistry comes from renewable alternatives to crude oil

“Our vision is for RUDOLF HUB1922 OFFUEL to be verified by us during garment manufacturing” states De Conti. In fact, RUDOLF extends to the RUDOLF HUB1922 OFFUEL range the very same verification process they successfully apply for the assessment of performance chemicals and which is based on volumes being treated, recipes being applied and amounts of our auxiliaries being purchased. “Through the verification certificate that we release, manufacturers can be recognized for their efforts and brand and retailers can be reassured that their garments are finished only with RUDOLF HUB1922 OFFUEL products”.

Lawson Glidden Appointed President Of Minus33

Lawson Glidden

ASHLAND, N.H. — October 19, 2021 — Carrying on a family textile business that spans five generations, Lawson Glidden has been appointed president of Minus33 and the L.W. Packard company.

Formerly Lead Sock Designer at Minus33, Glidden helped orchestrate the company’s return to domestic manufacturing in 2018, heading up Minus33’s US-made sock program. Assuming the role of president from his father, John Glidden, Lawson Glidden will be the fifth-generation leader of a family business dating back to 1916.

“We measure growth in terms of small town jobs,” Lawson Glidden said. “Twenty years ago, we had to shut down our factory here because the rest of our domestic supply chain moved overseas, but now, in the right applications, domestic manufacturing can be viable, and the Mountain Heritage sock line — made right here in Ashland, New Hampshire — is just the beginning.”

Minus33’s parent company, L.W. Packard, started as a woolen mill on the bank of the Squam River, surviving The Great Depression, the flood of 1936, and two world wars. When the Clean Water Act encouraged the mill to modernize its wastewater discharge system in 1967, the mill expanded and in the process funded the majority of the town of Ashland’s new wastewater treatment plant.

In 1995, L.W. Packard was selected by Textile World magazine as one of the top 10 textile plants in the world, recognized for its achievements in automation, quality, efficiency, safety and innovative human resource programs. Fabric produced by L.W. Packard was used by top-tier apparel brands including L.L. Bean, Calvin Klein, Eddie Bauer, Brooks Brothers, Burberry, Lands’ End, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Perry Ellis, Liz Claiborne, Hart Shaffner Marx and Hickey Freeman.

But by 2002, both raw material suppliers and clothing brands that purchased L.W. Packard wool had moved overseas.

“After our suppliers and the brands who purchased from us moved overseas, we continued to manufacture here in New Hampshire for another 15 years by upgrading to premium wool and innovating our operations, until we were forced to shut down the mill,” said Lawson Glidden.

To change with the times, John Glidden and L.W. Packard’s core team of textile engineers created the Minus33 brand. Minus33 harnesses generations of premium wool expertise, specializing in fine merino basics for people who love the outdoors.

“It’s incredibly humbling to step into this role and take on all the responsibility it entails,” said Glidden. “Over the course of the last 100 years or so, my family and this whole community have been tied to the wool business. The town of Ashland grew and was originally incorporated in 1868, owing in part to growth created by the mill. Our ultimate goal is to help bring prosperity to this community and to do it by making great outdoor gear.”
