Chargeurs PCC Launches Zero-Water Rainbow Collection Of Sustainable Knitted Interlinings

PARIS — November 10, 2022 — Chargeurs PCC, the world’s largest apparel interlinings manufacturer, today announced the launch of the Zero-Water Rainbow Collection of sustainable knitted interlinings. The collection of ultralight inner components is available in 15 colors, in addition to white, natural and off-white, all dyed through a proprietary waterless process that minimizes environmental impact.

The Zero-Water Rainbow Collection offers the lightest interlinings for couturiers and luxury brands that use the most luxurious and lightweight fabrics to create garments. Delicate and sheer items require silky, soft interlinings that provide flexible structure, durability and adhesion while remaining nearly invisible, so as not to detract from the color of the outer fabric. The collection is available in a wide range of sustainable colors to ensure designers’ creations drape perfectly and wear well, with no perceptible difference in the color of materials used to construct different layers of garments.

“We’ve leveraged our expertise to create a revolutionary dyeing process that uses absolutely no water as part of our commitment to sustainability through innovation,” said Gianluca Tanzi, CEO of Chargeurs Textile. “The Zero-Water Rainbow Collection of sustainable interlinings offer the flexibility and improved adhesion the world’s top couturiers demand in a wide range of colors to match nearly any fabric.”

The traditional dyeing process is one of the most water-intensive and polluting parts of fashion production. According to the UN, the fashion industry produces 20% of all wastewater and textile dyeing is the second-largest source of water pollution globally. Most of this wastewater is returned untreated to the environment, where chemicals from dyes can harm human, animal and plant life.

To address this issue, Chargeurs PCC designed and engineered a proprietary waterless dyeing process that involves dyeing the adhesive material used in interlinings rather than the fabric itself. The Zero- Water Rainbow Collection is available in very small order quantities with fast delivery, eliminating overproduction and the need for fashion brands to purchase material than they actually need just to meet minimum order requirements.

The Zero-Water Rainbow Collection is manufactured at Chargeurs’ century-old, fully integrated Lainièr de Picardie factory outside Paris, under the supervision of the company’s textile and chemical experts.

First Of Its Kind Commercial Scale Recycled Textile Mill Opens In Sweden

SUNDSVALL, Sweden — November 10, 2022 — Today, as world leaders gather in Egypt to discuss how to decarbonize supply chains in time to stabilize our climate, the world’s first commercial-scale textile-to-textile pulp mill held its official opening in Sundsvall, Sweden. ‘Renewcell 1’ is the first of a new generation of climate-friendly mills that shift viscose production from being a linear extractive supply chain, with significant impact on the world’s forests, biodiversity, and climate, to low-impact, circular production. he first-of-its-kind facility will repurpose over 120,000 metric tonnes of textile waste next year, otherwise destined for landfills, and turn it into new viscose for fashion.

As the global effort to combat climate change and environmental degradation accelerates there is a growing need to make fashion circular and preserve critical forest ecosystems. Over 200 million trees, many from the world’s most vital forests, are currently cut down every year to make fabrics like viscose and rayon. Renewcell’s new mill uses textile waste rather than trees to make these fabrics, sourcing from worn-out jeans and production scraps.

“We’re delighted to be the first mill in the world that is dedicated to circular manufacturing for the viscose fashion sector,” said Patrik Lundström, CEO of Renewcell. “It hasn’t always been easy but the commissioning of this facility marks the dawn of a new circular era for global fashion.”

Strong market demand has played a key role in Renewcell coming to market at scale. Through Canopy’s work in the fashion sector, more than 500 fashion brands, designers, and retailers are committed to prioritizing the use of Next Generation Solutions, including viscose made from old textiles and agricultural residues, along with not sourcing from Ancient and Endangered Forests. Clear market signals of support and offtake agreements from brands and conventional viscose producers helped Renewcell unlock their financing for this first commercial-scale facility.

“As we strive to turn around the climate and biodiversity crises, we need dozens of these low-impact mills to replace unsustainable forest-based viscose production,” said Nicole Rycroft, Executive Director of Canopy. “Renewcell, their investors and off-takers have stepped up to make this first Next Gen mill a reality. We’re excited to continue to work with the marketplace and financiers to transform this supply chain at a pace and scale that’s proportional to the ecological requirements of our time.”

It is estimated that over 90 million tonnes of apparel waste accumulate in landfills each year — the equivalent in weight to 18 Great Pyramids. Using recycled waste textiles to make viscose rather than forest fibre saves up to 15 tonnes of CO2e per tonne of product.

Accel Unite’s Megan Eddings To Pitch Revolutionary Isolation Gown At Prestigious Competition

HOUSTON, Texas — November 10, 2022 — After winning the South Texas Region and the Semi-Finals Round, Accel Unite is thrilled to announce founder and CEO Megan Eddings will be participating in the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council’s WBENC Pitch competition in Washington next week.

Narrowed down from a first-round of more than 500 business owners, Megan was chosen as one of 47 to pitch in the semi-finals round and is one of 12 winners selected to pitch at the prestigious “Innovate with WBENC” event in the grand finale. This signature competition features a series of pitch competitions and educational sessions to help women business owners gain meaningful exposure, and compete for grants and other prizes to invest in their business.

Eddings will be pitching Accel Unite’s award-winning reusable isolation gowns, which are patent-pending in 153 countries.

“I am truly honored and humbled that I will be among this select group of inspiring and innovative women sharing our inventions,” Eddings said. “I could not be more proud of Accel Unite and what it represents. I am super pumped to share the financial, environmental, and health benefits of our reusable isolation gown with such a forward-looking audience.”

Born out of the need for reliable and sustainable PPE, Accel Unite spent more than a year developing a new design for a reusable isolation gown that is more affordable, increases safety against cross-contamination, and is less damaging to the environment. Instead of being thrown away, Accel Unite’s gowns can be washed at home or by a commercial launderer. Disposable options, on the other hand, burden supply chains, increase costs, and substantially contribute to the single-use plastic epidemic. Accel Unite does not rely on an overseas supply chain to manufacture its gowns and is therefore poised to become a highly competitive market leader.

WBENC is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to helping women-owned businesses thrive. With its world-class certification standard, WBENC validates that a business is at least 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. The certification is accepted by thousands of corporations, state and local governments, as well as the US Military.

BANGKOK, Thailand — November 10, 2022 — Indorama Ventures Public Co. Ltd, (IVL), a global sustainable chemical producer, today reported a resilient year-to-date performance as management leveraged the company’s unique global integrated model to drive earnings through a challenging macroeconomic environment.

IVL posted Core EBITDA of $606 million in 3Q22, a 39-percent increase YoY and a decline of 20 percent QoQ as the strong tailwinds that drove record earnings into 2022 began to normalize in the third quarter. Management have redoubled efforts through the year to mitigate the impact of unprecedented global economic fluctuations triggered by instability in Europe and continued lockdowns in China.

Strategic acquisitions, including Oxiteno, are bolstering IVL’s increasingly diverse geographic footprint and product portfolio, supporting earnings through volatile economic conditions. Revenue declined 10 percent QoQ in 3Q and grew 27 percent YoY as Combined PET, the largest business segment, saw steady volumes through the year, and new portfolio additions performed strongly, such as surfactants in the Integrated Oxides and Derivatives segment. With more than 70 percent of IVL’s platform catering to consumer daily necessities, demand remains stable.

D K Agarwal, CEO of Indorama Ventures, said, “We are pleased with our performance across the business cycle. Our management is working hard to extract the advantages that we enjoy in terms of geographic leadership, product diversity, and an unmatched customer base of global household brands. Together with our habitual lens on cost management, these actions will help us to weather the economic challenges and continue to focus on our long-term potential.”

Combined PET (CPET) segment achieved YTD Core EBITDA of $1,192 million, an increase of 42 percent YoY. Core EBITDA in 3Q22 rose 27 percent YoY to $327 million, and declined 24 percent QoQ, as business remained steady across operations apart from in Europe where peak energy prices continue to put pressure on demand and margins.

Integrated Oxides and Derivatives (IOD) segment posted YTD Core EBITDA of $604 million, a rise of 137 percent YoY, due to integration benefits from the Oxiteno acquisition in April and robust demand for surfactants products. The segment achieved 3Q Core EBITDA of $219 million, an increase of 82 percent YoY, and a decline of 16 percent QoQ as margins weakened in the Integrated Intermediates portfolio amid overcapacity and the ongoing pandemic lockdown in China.

Fibers segment posted YTD Core EBITDA of $189 million, a rise of 2 percent YoY. 3Q Core EBITDA increased 2 percent YoY, and decreased of 11 percent QoQ, to $49 million. The Lifestyle fibers business continues to be impacted by the lockdown in China, while management in the Hygiene and Mobility verticals in Europe are effectively managing high energy costs.
