Italian Textile Machinery In China: Italian Machinery Manufacturers On Display At ITMA ASIA + CITME

MILAN — October 27, 2023 — ITMA ASIA+CITME, Asia’s foremost textile machinery trade fair, is all set to kick off in Shanghai on November 19th, and Italian technology will once again be on full display, showcasing innovative, sustainable solutions.

A total of 59 Italian machinery manufacturers will be exhibiting at the upcoming ITMA ASIA+CITME 2022, to be held from November 19 to 23 in Shanghai, as the event had been postponed for a year in the wake of the Covid19 pandemic. Of these 59 manufacturers, 26 will be presenting technological innovations as part of the National Sector Groups, organized by ACIMIT and ITA – Italian Trade Agency. Occupying a surface area of around 2,000 square meters, Italy is among the major foreign exhibiting Countries at the event, as has been the case for previous editions as well.

Asia is a major destination for Italy’s textile machinery manufacturers, with fully 38% of all Italian textile machinery exports during the first half of 2023 (amounting to roughly 338 million euros) directed towards Asian markets. China, in particular, is an absolutely important market for Italian companies: the first in Asia and the second worldwide behind Turkey in 2022. In the first six months of this year, Italian machinery sold in China reached a value of 81 million Euro.

“The general outlook for the Chinese market remains positive, although the demand for foreign machinery from local textile manufacturers has slowed somewhat for this first half of the year,” comments ACIMIT president Marco Salvadè. “Investments in the textile industry have never stopped, so there is no shortage of opportunities in China. I believe ITMA ASIA + CITME will confirm our expectations for a recovery in demand.”

Indeed, the demand for machinery in China is centered mainly on technologies capable of combining savings in production costs with solutions aimed at respecting the environment. “My belief is that to increase competitiveness at a global level, China’s textile manufacturers – just like those of other Countries – need to focus on the digitalization of production processes, as well as on sustainable technology solutions. In this regard, Italian technology can certainly satisfy these needs, proposing innovative processes designed to enhance sustainability and digitalization, something which visitors at the fair will be able to see for themselves,” Salvadè concludes.

For his part, Augusto Di Giacinto, Italian Trade Commissioner in Shanghai, states that, “ITMA ASIA + CITME has returned to Shanghai after two years, with a full reopening of the Chinese market, a significant statement that marks a reprise for the entire sector. In fact, ITMA ASIA + CITME continues to be one of the most important events for Italian textile machinery sector, one highly awaited event also for Chinese operators increasingly sensitive to quality, innovation and the ability of Made in Italy to combine technologies that can bring together cost savings with product sustainability. And we need to keep in mind that over 40% of all Italian exports to Cina is made up of capital goods and innovative technologies that are especially appreciated by Chinese product manufacturers.”

ACIMIT will be present at ITMA ASIA + CITME 2022 at the INDUSTRY INFORMATION HUB, with its very own Hot Desk.

Orion S.A. Launches PRINTEX® Kappa 10, Feeding High Demand Growth In The Lithium-Ion Battery Industry

HOUSTON — October 26, 2023 — Orion S.A., a global specialty chemicals company, today announced the launch of PRINTEX® kappa 10 – a high-quality conductive additive that will supply surging demand from producers of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, energy storage systems and consumer applications.

The new product, produced with furnace technology in Europe and eventually in Asia, marks a crucial expansion of Orion’s portfolio of conductive additives. The company also makes other kappa grades with the acetylene process.

PRINTEX® kappa 10 facilitates a more efficient transfer of electrical energy within lithium-ion batteries. It forms a percolating network that enables the electrons to flow. This enhances the performance and power response during both charging and discharging.

The conductive additive works for both anode and cathode. It is also compatible with lithium-ferrous-phosphate (LFP) batteries, nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) and other batteries.

“At Orion, we’re focused on products enabling more efficient and powerful lithium-ion batteries that help to decarbonize mobility. PRINTEX® kappa 10 is a key part of our strategy for expanding our business for such conductive additives,” Orion CEO Corning Painter said.

“Our strength lies in our dedication to innovation and delivering sustainable solutions for our customers,” Painter added. “As the world increasingly turns toward electric mobility, the demand for high-quality conductive additives like PRINTEX® kappa 10 will grow.”

Paua Nominated For CAMX Award For Ultimate Performance Cases With Minimal Environmental Impact

CHICHESTER, England — October 25, 2023 — Paua Trading Ltd., a UK-based materials brand on the cutting edge of materials innovation, has been nominated and announced as a finalist for the Composites and Materials Expo (CAMX) trade show’s CAMX Award. The flagship CAMX Award recognizes innovations that have the potential to significantly impact composites and advanced materials in the marketplace, and will be awarded to two game-changing entries that reflect the CAMX theme of ‘Combined Strength, Unsurpassed Innovation.’

Paua’s pioneering of patented, sustainable packaging and solutions includes applications for multiple industries, including surfboard cases for travel, protective cases for musical instruments, reusable packaging for shipping and logistics, and lighter, stronger and more durable products for the medical, tactical, outdoor and automotive sectors. In working partnership with Dewforge, James Dewhurst’s easy-to-forge SRPP woven composite, Paua has been nominated as a finalist for the application and product development of the innovative material. Known for creating more sustainable and durable solutions, Paua has taken the Dewforge 3-D multi-layered woven fabric and used the material to develop a range of groundbreaking cases.

The rigid cases provide a superior alternative protective case to those made from ABS, PC, PVC or EVA foam and nylon covered cases, and are impact and crush resistant, ideal for use as protective cases for high-value sports equipment, electronics, and industrial purposes.

Unlike traditional ABS, PC, PVC or EVA protective cases, Paua’s are made of PP materials, eliminating the release of harmful chemicals during production and upon removal of the zippers, the remaining product materials are 100% recyclable. The processing and molding of the materials is low heat and low pressure, reducing manufacturing energy and resources, and significantly reducing tooling investment.

By combining the Dewforge material with Paua’s EPP foam, Paua has created a range of cases that provide the strength to rival injection or rotary molded hard plastic cases that outperform competitors with lighter weight and greater sustainability.

“The CAMX Award provides industry recognition and prestige for groundbreaking work, and we’re incredibly proud to be considered as a finalist,” said Peter Bladd-Symms, CEO and founder of Paua. “Paua is continually pushing and breaking barriers to bring new performance material solutions to market in multiple industries including sports, logistics, automotive, music, and more, and these protective cases are our next iteration of a more sustainable and highly durable product. Truly ultimate performance with minimal environmental impact.”

The official CAMX Award sponsor, Composites One, will announce the winning entries at the show’s General Session on Tuesday, October 31 in Atlanta, GA.
