American Apparel Campaign Utilizes Crowdsourcing To Expand Product Line And Company Mission

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — May 4, 2016 — American Apparel — a manufacturer, distributor and retailer of branded fashion-basic apparel — is using crowdsourcing to find “Made in the USA” accessories to sell in its retail and online stores.

“Cutting and sewing 100 percent of our garments in America is at the core of our DNA. We want to continue to support manufacturing in the US by giving small businesses the opportunity to thrive and succeed,” said Cynthia Erland, senior vice president of marketing, American Apparel. “We are very excited to launch our Made In crowdsourcing campaign by soliciting ideas for third-party accessories and small home goods made in America and giving these vendors the opportunity for distribution in our stores and online globally.”

The Made In campaign is an open call for ideas and proposals for American Apparel to purchase and sell certain types of goods that are “Made in the USA” (including leather goods, canvas goods, footwear, jewelry, paper goods, fragrances, and small home furnishings). Vendors submitting proposals should ensure that their proposed products are “Made in the USA,” and retail for $100 or less. Vendors must also ensure that they can produce and deliver 500 units to the company’s distribution center within a 30-day period.

To submit a proposal, vendors should make a 90-second video discussing their proposed products and submit the video by June 17th, 2016. Terms and conditions, and specific instructions for submitting the video, can be found at  www.americanapparel.com/madein.

American Apparel will review each submission, with an eye towards what resonates with the spirit and DNA of American Apparel. American Apparel will determine which proposals (if any) are of interest by June 30, 2016, and will contact the selected vendors to discuss the terms for a future business relationship.

This is not a contest, and there are no “winners” or “prizes” associated with this campaign.

Italian Textile Machinery Roadshow In Iran

MILAN, Italy — May 2016 — A total of 26 Italian textile machinery manufacturers will be taking part in the forthcoming Roadshow in Iran organized by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and supported by the Ministry of Economic Development. The gradual elimination of international sanctions will allow Italy’s textile machinery industry to recover market share lost in recent years.

The textile machinery roadshow in Iran will kick off on May 22, and until May 30, a total of 26 Italian manufacturers — of which 23 are Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) associated members — will be taking part in a series of technology symposia programmed in some of the country’s major cities  including Teheran, Yazd, Isfahan and Mashad. This mission, organized by the ITA and ACIMIT with the support of Ministry of Economic Development, will allow Iranian textile manufacturers to measure their know-how with some of Italy’s primary producers of textile machinery, and become acquainted with the most up-to-date solutions for the different steps involved in the textile production process.

“In recent years, international sanctions have delayed the modernization process required for local industry to continue to be competitive in a global context,” said Raffaella Carabelli, President, ACIMIT, “In 2004, Iran was ranked among the top ten markets for Italian exports in the sector. After years of complete stagnation, our businesses have begun to do steady business in Iran. I’m confident that this roadshow will contribute to allowing us to recoup lost time.”

In 2015, Italian exports towards Iran amounted to 8 million euros. Iranian demand is spread out over all types of production, but Italian finishing and spinning machines are the primary exports.

“Italy’s textile machinery industry is a world leader for the quality of the technology proposed,” comments president of ACIMIT. “We now have the possibility of returning to a market that has a great tradition, with even more success than in the past and with very interesting prospects. Thanks also to the support of Ministry of Economic Development and the Italian Trade Agency, our sector will take on the role of a strategic partner in Iran’s textile industry.”

Mission Athletecare Announces Exclusive Global Partnership With 37.5®, Introduces New Mission Vaporactive™ Line

NEW YORK CITY — May 5, 2016 — MISSION Athletecare announced that 37.5 technology from Cocona Inc. was selected after an exhaustive innovation search to power the new, exclusive Mission VaporActive collection.

Building upon the success of the Mission EnduraCool line, which provides an instant cooling effect with a smart wet-to-cool technology platform, the new Mission VaporActive line to be unveiled this May will employ an even smarter dry-to-cool technology platform, powered by 37.5, for the products that athletes specifically say they want dry and cool like underwear, socks and baselayers.

Patented 37.5 technology is permanently embedded at the fiber level, and dramatically increases the surface area of traditional fibers by more than 300 percent, creating a hyper drying environment that helps efficiently manage temperature and humidity by capturing and releasing moisture vapor. This enables the athlete to spend less metabolic energy on cooling their body, and more energy on peak performance. By helping athletes enhance peak performance, 37.5 technology makes the Mission VaporActive line an immediate leader in the dry cool category, and continues to demonstrate Mission’s commitment to delivering best-in-class technologies for thermoregulation.

“Mission is leading the conversation and pioneering the delivery of innovative ways to enhance performance and recovery through Thermoregulation technologies, and we are excited to partner with 37.5 to continue delivering on that quest,” said Josh Shaw, founder and CEO, Mission. “The two biggest complaints we’ve heard from athletes using other competitive products are that wicking merely moves moisture around, and topically applied technologies just washes out, ultimately quitting on the athlete. The new MISSION VaporActive line powered by 37.5 hits both of these problems head on — physically removing moisture from the textile, making it drier, cooler and lighter, and the technology is embedded at the fiber level, so it is designed to never wash out or quit on the athlete.  As an athlete-owned company, we are committed to the relentless pursuit of delivering the best technology available for Thermoregulation.

“We are very excited to be partnering with a company that shares our passion for sports and technology,” said Jeff Bowman, CEO of 37.5. “Mission pushes the envelope with game-changing innovations and their commitment to athletes and their performance is unparalleled. We look forward to integrating our exclusive technology into their new Mission VaporActive collection, and more in the future.”

Mission prides itself on developing, designing and delivering game-changing innovations that enhance performance and speed up recovery through temperature-control technologies. Mission’s VaporActive launch will be led by Dwyane Wade, Reggie Bush, David Villa and more.

Mission’s VaporActive collection will be available this spring at leading retailers such as Dick’s Sporting Goods and online.
