Chinese Worsted Wool Spinning Company Xinao Textiles Opens European Facility, Xinao Textiles Europe, In Biella, Italy

VERRONE, Italy — January 30, 2019 — Xinao Textiles Europe, the Italian subsidiary of Xinao Textiles Inc., has officially started business.

Xinao Textiles Europe is based in Verrone (Biella), in the heart of the Biella wool district, and will be not only a commercial facility, but a development and production center crucial for strengthening its position in Europe. The company will be a benchmark for the Italian and European textile market, guaranteeing rapid manufacturing times and products in line with its taste and demands.

Alberto Gaia, general manager of Xinao Textiles Europe following a career in the worsted wool yarn industry, explained: “Our aim is to become the collector of the European fashion market’s ideas and trends, to interpret its taste and needs and offer a rapid, competitive service. We have chosen Biella because it has always been an international wool yarn center of the highest level, which will contribute to defining our style. We want to become part of this area, integrating with the local textile services industry to create a product with Italian taste and high added value”.

Xinao Textiles Inc. was founded in 1991 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2014. In two decades it has established itself as a leader in the Far East and the USA. In 2017 it produced 10 million kilos of yarn, with a 10-percent increase over 2016. 80 percent of its market is external knitwear and 20 percent circular knits and socks. The secret of its international success lies in its totally integrated production chain: from its own farm in Australia, which supplies part of its wool requirements, to all combing, treatment, dyeing and spinning stages. Meticulous selection of raw materials means it is now a leader in fine and extra-fine yarns, manufacturing a product with international appeal.

To a favorable price/quality ratio, it adds the speed of its service, special attentiveness towards the sensibilities of consumers in all the countries to which it exports, and environmental awareness. It holds the main international certifications, including RWS (Responsible Wool Standard), Ecolabel EU, Woolmark, Oekotex, GlobalRecycled Standard for recycled polyester, Organic Content Standard (Organic Content 100 and Organic Content Blended) and is a Bluesign partner, with its supply chain engaged in the certification process.

Xinao Textiles has long taken part in the main international textile fairs such as Spinexpo and Prèmiere Vision, while Xinao Textiles Europe will usher in 2019 with participation at ISPO Munich and Filo in Milan where the slogan “From farm to yarn” will underscore its key strength.

Rieter Holding Ltd. — Kurt Ledermann New CFO Of Rieter Group And 2018 Financial Summary

WINTERTHUR, Switzerland — January 30, 2019 — The Rieter Group achieved an order intake of 868.8 million Swiss francs in the 2018 financial year, 17 percent down on the previous year period (2017: 1,051.5 million Swiss francs). At
1,075.2 million Swiss francs, total sales were 11-percent higher than the previous year (2017: 965.6 million Swiss francs). Net liquidity increased to 150.3 million Swiss francs(December 31, 2017: 130.5 million Swiss francs). The full annual financial statements and the 2018 Annual Report will be published by Rieter on March 13, 2019.

Order intake by Business group

The Business Group Machines & Systems posted an order intake of 468.3 million Swiss francs, a reduction of 30 percent compared to the previous year. Demand in the new machinery business was characterized by uncertainties in Asia and Turkey as well as the tense financing situation for emerging market customers. Both factors had a negative impact on the investment sentiment in the spinning industry. This was especially evident in the fourth quarter of 2018, which with an order intake of 34.9 million Swiss francs was very weak in all regions.

In the Business Group Components, order intake was 260.1 million Swiss francs, around 14 percent above the previous year (excluding acquisition -6 percent). Due to weaker macro- economic conditions, order intake in the fourth quarter of 2018 amounted to 55.0 million Swiss francs which was lower than in the previous quarters. This decline can be attributed to a low propensity for investments by customers.

With an order intake of 140.4 million Swiss francs, the Business Group After Sales recorded a year-on-year decline of 9 percent. Order intake of 29.1 million Swiss francs in the fourth quarter of 2018 was lower than in the previous quarters. This is due in particular to the lower order intake for installation services for new Rieter machines.

Sales by Business Group

Group sales in 2018 amounted to 1,075.2 million Swiss francs (2017: 965.6 million Swiss francs), an increase of 11 percent over the previous year. Rieter achieved increased sales thanks to organic growth in the Business Group Machines & Systems. In addition, the acquisition of SSM Textile Machinery in the Business Group Components supported this positive development. The Business Groups After Sales and Components were able to maintain the previous year’s levels of sales despite during the second semester of 2018.

Regions

In the Asian countries (excluding China, India and Turkey), Rieter increased sales in the reporting year by 36 percent to 433.9 million Swiss francs, of which Uzbekistan contributed 144.1 million Swiss francs. In 2018, sales in China fell by 19 percent to  148.6 million Swiss francs. With the phasing out of the subsidy program in the western province of Xinjiang, the demand for machinery declined. Sales in India fell by 16 percent to 146.2 million Swiss francs. In Turkey, Rieter achieved sales of 154.8 million Swiss francs (+55 percent) in a difficult market environment, thanks to the introduction of the new ring and compact spinning machines. Sales in North and South America amounted to 108.6 million Swiss francs (-5 percent). In the Europe region, Rieter increased sales by 3 percent to 47.3 million Swiss francs. Sales in the Africa region amounted to 35.8 million Swiss francs (+29 percent).

At the end of 2018, Rieter’s order backlog amounted to about 325 million Swiss francs (December 31, 2017: about 540 million Swiss francs). Due to the development of the business as described above, Rieter is planning capacity adjustment and cost reduction measures.

Kurt Ledermann new CFO of Rieter Group

The Board of Directors of Rieter Holding Ltd. has appointed Kurt Ledermann to
the Group Executive Committee of Rieter Group as CFO, effective June 1, 2019.

Kurt Ledermann started his career with SIKA AG in the area of finances after having graduated from ETH Zurich with a degree in electrical engineering and from St. Gallen University with a degree in business administration. He has been working at Schaffner Holding AG in Luterbach (Switzerland) as Chief Financial Officer since 2008. Kurt Ledermann was born in 1968 and is a Swiss citizen.

Annual General Meeting of April 4, 2019

The 2019 Annual General Meeting of Rieter Holding Ltd. will take place on April 4 at the Eulach-Hallen in Winterthur, Switzerland. Any proposals regarding the agenda are to be submitted in writing to Rieter Holding Ltd., Office of the Company Secretary, Klosterstrasse 32, CH-8406 Winterthur, Switzerland by February 22, 2019 at the latest, accompanied by information concerning the relevant motions and evidence of the necessary shareholdings (with a par value of 0.5 million Swiss francs as stipulated by Article 699 of the Swiss Code of Obligations and §9 of the Articles of Association).

Kelheim Fibres‘ New Speciality Fiber Danufil® QR
Selected As A Finalist For IDEA 2019 Achievement Awards

KELHEIM, Germany — January 30, 2019 — After a fire at Kelheim Fibres’ production plant in October 2018, the Bavarian viscose fiber specialists are gradually rebuilding production capacity from currently 40 percent to full capacity by the middle of 2020.
While doing so, Kelheim Fibres deliberately focuses on the opportunities offered by the reconstruction of their plant: “In the future we will concentrate even more ever on speciality fibers. This strategy, combined with new state-of-the-art production lines, even better environmental performance and more than 80 years of experience in viscose fibre production will make us stronger and our business even more robust”, said Matthew North, commercial director at Kelheim Fibres. “”Coming back stronger” will be our motto for 2019.”

The IDEA19 fair provides the perfect platform to prove this point: Kelheim Fibres will present a new viscose fiber specialty, Danufil® QR, that was specifically designed for the use in disinfectant wipes. While standard viscose fibers, due to their negative charge, bind up to 80 percent of so-called “quats” (quarternary ammonium compounds, a common disinfectant) and so hinder their actual purpose, the positively charged Danufil® QR can reduce this undesired effect to less than 10 percent.

Softness, excellent fluid management and full biodegradability are the typical properties of viscose fibers – with the use of Danufil QR, disinfectant wipes can now also benefit from these. The new speciality fibre has already impressed one panel of experts: Danufil QR has been selected as a finalist for the IDEA 2019 Achievement Awards in the category “raw materials”.

Alongside Danufil QR, the Kelheim Fibres team will showcase a broad range of – established as well as new – fiber specialties at IDEA19, such as, for example, Galaxy®, the world’s leading fiber for tampon production, or VILOFT® shortcut fibres for the manufacturing of flushable wipes.
Meet Kelheim Fibres at IDEA19, Hall B, Booth Nr. 834.

Industry 4.0: From Bale To Box — Robotic Technology From ACG Kinna Automatic

STOCKHOLM — January 30, 2019 — ACG Kinna Automatic, based in Skene, Sweden, provided dramatic live demonstrations of its new robotic pillow filling system which has the ability to fill and finish some 3,840 pillows per eight-hour shift. This is a considerable improvement on what is currently possible with either manual or semi-automatic systems, resulting in significant savings in both labour and energy for busy home textile businesses.

The technology is based on two robotic arms from Japan’s Fanuc — the world’s biggest robotics brand — which have been specially modified by ACG Kinna with advanced gripping tools and seaming and labeling devices.

The pillows are automatically sealed with either single or double lockstitch seams and labels can be attached without interrupting the flow of the system.

“There has been much talk about the potential of Industry 4.0 enabled by advanced software and now I believe we are at the forefront of pioneering it,” said ACG Kinna CEO Christian Moore. “The use of robotics is now standard across many industries dealing in solid goods, but the handling of soft materials such as textiles is a little more complex. Nevertheless, this system is now fully available for commercial shipment and the line that we demonstrated at Heimtextil was quickly sold.”

ACG Kinna is teaming up with fellow specialist in filling systems Borsoi, of Vittorio Veneto, Italy, and carding supplier CCS (Card Clothing and Services), of Huntley, Illinois, USA, for the provision of completely automated lines under the motto ‘From the Bale to the Box’. The three companies are combining more than 150 years of textile machinery know-how into fully-engineered automated solutions for pillows, quilts and mattress pad production.

Founded 1977, ACG Kinna Automatic specialises in customised and cost-efficient solutions for the production of pillows and quilts. All of its design, manufacturing and final line testing is still carried out in Sweden and the reliability and longevity of its machines has earned it the trust of the world’s largest furniture and home decoration retailer and Europe’s largest manufacturer of pillows and duvets, among many customers.

As a member of TMAS – the textile machinery association of Sweden – ACG Kinna Automatic will be carrying out further demonstration of its robotic pillow filling system and other automation solutions at ITMA 2019 in Barcelona this June.

“Sweden’s long tradition and history of textile production, combined with a good climate for innovation, brings many benefits,” says TMAS Secretary General Therese Premler-Andersson.
