TRSA Safety Summit Builds On Injury Prevention Success

ST. LOUIS — May 21, 2018 — TRSA — the global association for the linen, uniform and facility services industry — today hosts the seventh annual Safety Summit, with more than 70 participants sharing best practices and receiving advice from safety professionals in other industries to further decrease workplace risks in large-scale laundries.

Members continue to progress toward reaching their zero-incident goal. Yearly TRSA research shows incidences declining at a faster rate than those of all U.S. businesses. From 2012 to 2016, members’ total recordable injuries and illnesses (TRIR rate) fell nearly 18 percent, compared with 15 percent for all private industry. Days away from work, job restrictions or job transfers (DART rate) were down nearly 16 percent, compared with 11 percent.

In addition to the Summit, TRSA supports members’ gains with employee training videos, including English and Spanish versions of instruction on lockout/tagout and soiled linen handling. More than 20 webinars produced since 2011, webcast live and now available on-demand, guide management in injury prevention, hazard analysis and communication, behavior-based safety and more. Supporting documents and references available through www.TRSA.org reinforce members’ proficiency in these disciplines and others, such as working safely in confined spaces.

Emerald Kalama Chemical Announces Global Price Increases 

VANCOUVER, Wash. — May 21, 2018 — Emerald Kalama Chemical, a business group of Emerald Performance Materials, announces global price increases for various K-FLEX® Plasticizers, Purox® Benzoates and Kalama® Benzoates and Benzaldehyde products. FSC Certification Awarded To Mogul South Carolina Nonwovens

GRAY COURT, S.C. — May 21, 2018 — Mogul South Carolina Nonwovens announced today that it has earned the Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®) Chain-of-Custody (CoC) certification [FSC®-C137808] from the Rainforest Alliance.  Mogul pursued the certification in alignment with its corporate sustainability objectives to participate in environmental stewardship through efficient use of energy, reduction of waste and emissions, and maintenance of the good health, safety and well-being of its employees.

Tegra Acquires Fjord LLC To Expand Operations And Capabilities

Motion Industries Acquires California MRO Distributor Power Industries

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — May 18, 2018 — Motion Industries Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company (GPC), announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Power Industries Inc., also known as Santa Rosa MRO LLC, headquartered in Santa Rosa, Calif. Execution of the transaction occurred on May 1, 2018.

Founded in 1951, Power Industries specializes in distributing MRO parts including bearings, power transmission, fluid power, and hose and fittings. The company’s factory specialists assist customers with cost savings and productivity in their applications. Industries served include wineries, food and beverage, water treatment, forest products, construction, and manufacturing.

The addition of Power Industries, which shares its locations with two NAPA AUTO PARTS stores in Santa Rosa and Napa, expands Motion Industries’ footprint and customer service capabilities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

“The industry and product knowledge of Power Industries employees will be a big plus for our business, particularly in Northern California,” said Tim Breen, Motion Industries’ President and CEO. “We welcome them to the Motion family, and look forward to achieving great things together.”

The agreement marks Motion Industries’ second acquisition of a California company in the last year. Numatic Engineering (Los Angeles) joined the Motion Industries team in August 2017.

Archroma Announces Progress On Integration Of M. Dohmen

REINACH, Switzerland — May 18, 2018 — Archroma, a global leader in color and specialty chemicals, announced the further integration of M. Dohmen, an international group specializing in the production of textile dyes and chemicals for the automotive, carpet and apparel sectors. This went into effect on May 1, 2018 and follows Archroma expanding its stake in M. Dohmen from 49 percent to 75 percent in September 2017.

The increased integration will be implemented in North America and Korea. In North America, 20 employees from M. Dohmen USA Inc. joined Archroma when the company merged into Archroma U.S. Inc. operations in the United States and into Archroma Canada, Corporation in Canada.

In Korea, Archroma recently acquired 100 percent of the shares of M. Dohmen Korea Ltd. The company’s name has been changed to Archroma Korea Ltd on April 30, 2018, and its 75 employees will now work under the Archroma brand.

SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler Attended Eight Textile Exhibitions Around The World

HORGEN, Switzerland — May 18, 2018 — In the first four month SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler AG attended eight exhibitions around the world. In Colombia, Bangladesh, Japan, Russia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey and Pakistan SSM could convince the interested visitors about their solutions for yarn processing and winding.

The exhibitions in Colombia, Bangladesh, Russia, Indonesia and Pakistan took place on joint booths of the SSM representatives. During the shows, SSM met many existing, and also potential new customers that showed interest in their products. Thanks to the great effort and support of the SSM agents the exhibitions have been a great success.

For Japan Yarn Fair and Saigontex, SSM had their own booth with the kind support of their local representatives. There, the main focus was given to the high range of possibilities SSM customers could profit. With final packages, wound on SSM machines, as well as knitted textile samples the visitors could feel the difference.

The biggest appearance of SSM was at the ITM in Istanbul, where they combined the sample bobbins & textile (made on the TG30-ETC) with the winding and yarn process machines, such as DP5-T for creating slubs and neps, the XENO-AC for air covered yarns or the XENO winding and doubling machines including DIGICONE® 2 for higher dyeable package densities. Last but not least the PWX-MTC, SSM’s latest machine for rewinding of highly elastic yarns on muffs or hanks, had been showed.

Over all SSM had a successful appearance on the shows around the globe in the first four month and they are looking forward to the exhibitions to come, in order to serve the market with their latest and best solutions for the textile industry.

Durst Wins Prestigious EDP Award For P5

BRIXEN, Italy — May 18, 2018 — Durst, a manufacturer of advanced digital printing and production technologies, has been awarded the European Digital Press Association (EDP) Award for “Best flatbed/hybrid printer > 250m/h”.

The award was given for the new P5 platform with the new Durst P5 250 HS printing system, which was presented at the end of January at the Durst premises in Lienz, and attracted so much attention that even Austria ‘s Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz was informed about the innovation during a visit.

For Durst, the circle is now completed including introduction, field test, first installations and positive market response, as the EDP jury consists of 21 member magazines from all over Europe. The EDP Awards were presented at FESPA in Berlin.
