Coloreel Secures Distribution In Europe For Revolutionary Thread Coloring Unit

JÖNKÖPING, Sweden — September 3, 2018 —  Coloreel has now secured distribution in Europe through leading distributors of industrial embroidery machines and textile printers. The distributors will be responsible for sales, service and installation to all customers.

Coloreel has taken the first step in building a global distributors network, starting with Europe. Leading distributors in key markets for the embroidery industry have signed on to become the foundation of the network. With a well-structured maintenance organization, the distributors will be in charge of sales, installation and service in respective markets.

“Coloreel is the most exciting innovation to happen in the world of embroidery for the past 20 years! This technology will change the way many embroiderers work forever”, says Tony Dorsey, CEO at AJS Embroidery, Coloreel distributor for the United Kingdom and Ireland market.

The Coloreel technology enables high-quality instant coloring of textile thread while it is in the textile production. The first product to be launched based on this technology is a groundbreaking thread coloring unit that works with any existing industrial embroidery machine. By instantly coloring a white base thread during the embroidery production, Coloreel enables complete freedom to create unique embroideries without any limitations in the use of colors.

“We think that the Coloreel Technology will be the next step in the future of the Embroidery Business. No more color restrictions will help to create designs without any barriers”, says Torsten Preiss, CEO at Barudan Deutschland, Coloreel Distributor for Germany, Denmark, Austria and Switzerland (German-speaking part).

Because of the huge market potential and the clear trend in personalization, Coloreel will launch their product in Europe first. Most markets have joined Coloreels distribution network so far and more will join.”It’s one of those revolutionary game changers which are a full stop between past and future. We hardly understand how we were able to meet or keep in touch without smartphones only ten years ago or how we managed to travel everywhere without GPS. Very shortly we will think about how we’ve been able to embroider for so many years without Coloreel technology”, says Francisco Fandos, CEO at Grupo FB Maquinaria S.A., Coloreel Distributor for Spain and Portugal.

The next step is to extend the dialogue to potential distributors outside Europe. The goal is to expand the distribution network worldwide so that everyone can benefit from being able to use one thread with unlimited colors.

“With their many years of experience and expertise in the embroidery market; I feel confident that the distributors will be able to sell our revolutionary product, says Magnus Hellström”, vice president, Sales & Marketing, Coloreel.

The product launch of the Coloreel unit will take place at the high-tech fashion fair Avantex in Paris, September 17-20. At stand Z428, the customers will be able to meet with both Coloreel and the European distributors.

Kelheim Fibres To Present Transparent Viscose Specialty Fiber At Dornbirn

KELHEIM, Germany — September 3, 2018 — The viscose fiber Leonardo from specialty fiber manufacturer Kelheim Fibres is an extremely smooth and flat viscose fiber with a width to thickness ratio of up to 1:40. This geometry with parallel sides gives the fiber its unique characteristics: In wet laid nonwovens, Leonardo scores with skin friendliness and high liquid storage capacity, typical properties of viscose fibers, which are further improved in Leonardo. In contrast to other viscose fibers, however, Leonardo also offers high transparency — a property that is much sought after in cosmetic facial sheet masks in the Asian market. Here, transparency not only suggests a high load of moisture, but it also enables a discreet use of the mask even in everyday situations.

But transparency also offers benefits for other nonwovens products, e.g. for tea bags where the contents can be clearly seen. The possible applications of Leonardo are not limited to nonwovens either: processed into effect yarns, the transparent Leonardo fiber can provide a special look in textiles.

Leonardo — as all viscose specialities from Kelheim Fibres — is made of 100-percent renewable cellulose and is therefore fully biodegradable.
Dr. Ingo Bernt from the Bavarian fibers expert’s R&D team will present Leonardo at this year’s Global Fiber Congress at Dornbirn. For further discussions and with a broad range of other speciality fibers, he and his colleagues will be available at Kelheim Fibres’ info point at the conference.

Dayton Ohio Laundry Recertifies For Hygienically Clean Healthcare

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — August 31, 2018 —  Economy Towel & Linen’s Dayton, Ohio, laundry has been re-certified Hygienically Clean for Healthcare, reflecting the laundry’s ongoing commitment to best management practices (BMPs) in laundering as verified by on-site inspection and its capability to produce hygienically clean textiles as quantified by ongoing microbial testing.

Originally certified in 2014, this renewal certification confirms the organization’s continuing dedication to infection prevention, compliance with recognized industry standards and processing healthcare textiles using BMPs as described in its quality assurance documentation, a focal point for Hygienically Clean inspectors’ evaluation. The independent, third-party inspection must also confirm essential evidence that:

  • Employees are properly trained and protected;
  • Managers understand regulatory requirements;
  • OSHA-compliant; and
  • Physical plant operates effectively.

To achieve certification initially, laundries pass three rounds of outcome-based microbial testing, indicating that their processes are producing Hygienically Clean Healthcare textiles and diminished presence of yeast, mold and harmful bacteria. They also must pass a facility inspection. To maintain their certification, they must pass quarterly testing to ensure that as laundry conditions change, such as water quality, textile fabric composition and wash chemistry, laundered product quality is consistently maintained. Re-inspection occurs every two to three years.

This process eliminates subjectivity by focusing on outcomes and results that verify textiles cleaned in these facilities meet appropriate hygienically clean standards and BMPs for hospitals, surgery centers, medical offices, nursing homes and other medical facilities.

Hygienically Clean Healthcare certification acknowledges laundries’ effectiveness in protecting healthcare operations by verifying quality control procedures in linen, uniform and facility services operations related to the handling of textiles containing blood and other potentially infectious materials.

Certified laundries use processes, chemicals and BMPs acknowledged by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, American National Standards Institute and others. Introduced in 2012, Hygienically Clean Healthcare brought to North America the international cleanliness standards for healthcare linens and garments used worldwide by the Certification Association for Professional Textile Services and the European Committee for Standardization.

Objective experts in epidemiology, infection control, nursing and other healthcare professions work with Hygienically Clean launderers to ensure the certification continues to enforce the highest standards for producing clean healthcare textiles.

“Congratulations to Economy Towel & Linen on their recertification,” said Joseph Ricci, TRSA president and CEO. “This achievement proves their continued commitment to infection prevention and that their laundry takes every step possible to prevent human illness.”

Hoffa: U.S.-Mexico Agreement Is First Step Towards Better North American Trade

WASHINGTON — August 27, 2018 —  The following is a statement from Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa about the bilateral agreement-in-principle announced today between the United States and Mexico to revamp the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

“The Teamsters Union has long been a leader in demanding real reforms to NAFTA to make it work for worker across all of North America. We have been working closely with the USTR on those demands and we believe that the Administration has taken real steps to deal with our concerns regarding cross-border trucking and highway safety.

“However, there is still much work to be done. Canada, for one, must be part of the agreement. The interests of all North American workers must be included as part of any trade agreement that is ultimately approved.

“NAFTA has been a failure. The Teamsters and other unions must see the final text to learn how this agreement will raise wages, ensure worker rights and freedoms, address enforcement, reduce outsourcing and put the interests of working families first in all three countries.”

Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million hardworking men and women throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

U.S. And Canadian Manufacturers: We Must Have A Trilateral Agreement

WASHINGTON — August 29, 2018 —  National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons and Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) President and CEO Dennis Darby released the following statement on NAFTA:

“Manufacturers in the United States and Canada firmly support moving forward at full speed to seize the opportunity to forge a new trade deal with the United States, Canada and Mexico. There is an unprecedented volume of goods flowing between the three countries and significant integration of operations, which makes a trilateral agreement an imperative. Such an agreement secures the jobs of our manufacturing workers and strengthens the critical U.S.–Canada trading relationship. We must also stand together with our regional allies to ensure competitors like China do not reap the rewards of unfair anti-market trade practices. Because of our two countries’ nearly $700 billion trading relationship, our economies are inextricably linked, and our manufacturing workers depend on a strong deal that keeps us all growing and prospering for generations to come.”

Carhartt Launches Carhartt For Workers Platform This Labor Day Weekend To Inspire The Next Generation To Think, Create And Build With Their Hands

DEARBORN, Mich. — August 30, 2018 —  Carhartt today launched a platform called “Carhartt for Workers” (CFW) to help close the skilled trades gap and advocate for skilled workers. Carhartt is working with four long-time partners for this initiative: Team Rubicon, SkillsUSA, Future Farmers of America and Helmets to Hardhats. Each of these organizations support skilled work in a variety of ways, from offering a pathway to a career in the trades, to engaging youth and veterans through education and training.

“Carhartt for Workers is how we will advocate for skilled workers by championing organizations that are working to close the skills gap, elevating the perception of a career in the trades, and advocating for the skilled workers’ way of life,” said Tony Ambroza, Carhartt’s chief brand officer. “Honoring and supporting workers is at the core of Carhartt; it’s very much who we are. Establishing an official platform to help close the skilled trades gap is an important next step in supporting our country’s hardest workers.”

Carhartt created CFW as a central platform for those who are interested in learning more about career opportunities and training in the skilled trades and agriculture industry. Its purpose is to connect people with organizations that can provide a pathway to a quality career as well as raise awareness nationally about the deep impact that the skills gap will have on our country if it continues to grow.

“The skills gap is real,” said Ambroza. “By one estimate, for every skilled worker entering the workforce, there are five who retire. As the industry leader in workwear, we are obligated to help the millions of hardworking people we serve every year find a rewarding path into the skilled trades by making it easier for them to learn about the training they need to secure quality careers.”

To kick off the CFW platform, Carhartt sent 500 “Thank You Crates” to members of its CFW partner organizations in recognition of all the hard work they do each day. The crates contain tokens of appreciation like safety eyewear, Carhartt hats, PAYDAY candy bars, a multi-tool, pencil/ruler kit, Stanley water bottle, Duke Cannon soap and much more. Additionally, each crate was sent with a personalized, handwritten letter of thanks from a Carhartt associate.

KARL MAYER: Stylish Apparel Lace Produced On An MLF 60/32

OBERTSHAUSEN, Germany — August 27, 2018 — KARL MAYER launched a new generation of highly efficient, multibar fall-plate machines at ITMA 2015. The productivity of the first machine in this range, the MLF 46/24, 242″, was twice that of its predecessor. This new machine became very well established on the market, and was upgraded the following year in time for the ITMA ASIA + CITME 2016 exhibition by equipping it with more guide bars. The MLF 60/32 delivers the same efficiency and quality as the low-bar version, but enables a wider range of patterns to be produced. Larger and more opulent motifs and a wide variety of edge borders can be worked.

The samples of all-over lace shown here illustrate the exceptional features of the MLF 60/32. The samples were produced in a gauge of E 24 and, despite their different looks, were processed with just a single needle repeat. The 144 needles worked one repeat to create the large-format design, two for the filigree areas and three pattern repeats for the star-shaped flowers.

As well as varying the dimensions of the motifs, the appearance of the ground can also be varied extensively. Open spider-web constructions with a jacquard look, processed with the ground and pattern bars, can be produced on the MLF 60/32 just as easily as a simple tulle ground, whose subtle, jacquard-like constructions enhance the overall effect.

The lace fabrics were produced by Erke Textile. This Turkish company was founded in 2004 as Beeteks Tekstil, producing stretch powernet, embroidery grounds and tulle — all on KARL MAYER’s machines. In 2014, this manufacturer extended its production capacity to incorporate jacquard raschel machines. The patterns were created by the designer, Wolfgang Häusle, who is based in Obertshausen.
