Hologenix + Cadense Adaptive Footwear Introduce Infrared Technology Sock Supporting Mobility

LOS ANGELES  — September 17, 2024 — Hologenix, the company behind CELLIANT® infrared materials, has linked up with Cadense, the world’s first and only Variable Friction shoe for ground-breaking adaptive solutions. Together, the companies are pleased to debut the Cadense Energy Boost Performance sock. Made using CELLIANT’s proprietary minerals, the sock converts body heat into infrared energy to increase local circulation and cellular oxygenation.

Cadense products are specifically designed to empower those with walking difficulties. Their shoes reduce friction between the shoe and the ground to prevent the foot from catching on the floor during the swing phase of walking for those with injuries, neurological and physical conditions or age-related mobility issues. The new Boost socks powered by CELLIANT is the first time the brand has created a sock that harnesses the power of infrared technology (IR) to address the needs of their community even further.

“At Cadense, we want to support people on their mobility journey, no matter where they are at, and working with a partner like Hologenix opens up so many possibilities,” said Johannes Sauer, CEO of Cadense. “I’ve worked with the CELLIANT ingredient before and know the benefits of it firsthand, so it was a no-brainer to bring them on as a partner when we were considering expanding our offerings. I’m confident that our customers will love these socks with the CELLIANT infrared tech as much as I do.”

When embedded into socks, CELLIANT captures body heat and converts it into infrared energy, which is reflected back into the foot and lower leg. While anyone can benefit from infrared light therapy via wearing IR socks, the circulation benefits are particularly helpful for people who spend a lot of time on their feet or need extra support.

“Since starting Hologenix, our goal has always been to help people live their best, healthiest lives and this is a major consideration each and every time we decide to work with a new partner,” commented Seth Casden, founder and CEO of Hologenix. “Cadense is the embodiment of a brand that truly cares for their customers. That’s why we are proud to partner with them to serve a critical need that is often overlooked in this underserved community.”

Resource-Saving Innovation: Mammut LOOPINSULATION

SEON, Switzerland — September 17, 2024 — Switzerland-based mountain sports outfitter Mammut is raising the bar in resource conservation and performance for the 2024 winter season with the launch of its Mammut Loopinsulation. This groundbreaking insulation solution marks another significant step towards a more environmentally friendly future.

Insulation material from industrial rope production scraps – Hiking Corsica

Mammut Loopinsulation is the result of a successful collaboration with Austrian rope manufacturer Teufelberger. This innovative insulation material is made from production scraps generated during industrial rope manufacturing. Through a mechanical recycling process, free of chemicals, these scraps are transformed into high-quality insulation. “With Mammut Loopinsulation, we are embracing a circular and resource-conscious approach to material reuse. This is a critical step toward the future of sustainable outdoor clothing,” explained Helena Theba, Material Management lead at Mammut.

From concept to innovation

The development of Loopinsulation began after an analysis of Mammut’s carbon footprint in 2018, which revealed that 13 percent of the company’s CO2 emissions came from rope manufacturing. In response, Mammut conducted extensive research on repurposing rope production scraps, leading to the creation of Loopinsulation, a technology that stands out for its efficiency and environmental benefits.

First milestones and challenges

For the 2024 fall and winter season, Mammut has successfully recycled 12 tons of rope scraps, converting them into valuable insulation material. A key challenge was the variation in rope diameter, quality, and color, which was overcome through innovative solutions and a robust logistics system. “The complexity of recycling processes should never be underestimated,” says Theba. “A circular economy demands significant effort and expertise.”

A practical example: The Sender IN Hooded Jacket

One example of Loopinsulation in action is the Sender IN Hooded Jacket. This insulation jacket combines Loopinsulation with a recycled, wind- and water-repellent outer shell, moving Mammut closer to a fully circular, eco-friendly production process.

The Filament Factory (TFF) Launches High-Performance PA12 High-Strength Multifilament Yarn Following Successful Cooperation With Evonik

BAD HERSFELD, Germany — August 15, 2024 — The Filament Factory (TFF) is launching a new product line of high-performance polyamide (PA) 12 high-strength multifilaments following its successful cooperation with Evonik. Evonik produces high-performance plastics and is one of the world’s largest PA12 manufacturers based in Marl, Germany.

The new product line is manufactured using a newly developed process and enables TFF to expand its broad portfolio of high-performance filament yarns with PA12.

Compared to PA6 and PA6,6, PA12 has a lower concentration of amides. As a result, moisture and water absorption is significantly lower (0.7-1.5 percent). PA12 also proves to be particularly resistant to chemicals, especially fuels, oils, lubricants, various solvents and salt solutions, for example.

Due to its very low thermal shrinkage and low creep tendency, PA 12 is ideal for bearing and drive elements in humid environments where high dimensional stability is required. In addition, PA12 offers high strength (75-85 cN/tex), excellent resistance to abrasion and hydrolysis, high rigidity and resistance to stress cracking, as well as exceptional durability.

With the specific density of PA12 at 1.01 g/cm³, PA12 is regarded as an absolute lightweight among comparable polymers, enabling a weight reduction of 15 to 25 percent in existing components.

The new yarn family will be available in titres from 167 dtex to 6600 dtex and, if required, will also be offered as a spun-dyed yarn depending on requirements. PA12 can also be easily finished in yarn and piece dyeings.

Applications for these new high-tenacity PA12 multifilament yarns include hoses, belts, conveyor belts, load and climbing ropes, filter media, tyre cords and much more, which are used in the automotive and aviation industries and in the sports and leisure sector.

“After a long period of development work, this new development represents a breakthrough for another speciality that we offer worldwide,” said Yasar Kiray Senior Business Development manager, TFF.

ITMF Annual Conference & IAF World Fashion Convention: “Innovation, Cooperation & Regulation – Drivers Of The Textile & Apparel Industry”

ZÜRICH, Switzerland — September 17, 2024 — The joint ITMF Annual Conference and IAF World Fashion Convention was held on September 8-10 in the historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This year’s convention was hosted by Uztextileprom, the Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association and the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Uzbekistan.

From left to right: Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Davron Vakhabov, Governer of Samarkand Region Erkinjon Turdimov, Cem Altan, IAF President, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, K.V. Srinivasan, ITMF President, Chairman UZTS, Mirmuhsin Sultanov.

Uzbekistan was chosen as the host of this year’s convention due to its rapidly growing role in the global textile and apparel industries. With a strong tradition in cotton production, recent strong export growth of textiles and garments and ambitious plans for sustainable growth, Uzbekistan is evolving into a key player in the textile value chain.

The event attracted more than 350 leaders from more than 30 countries from the entire fiber, textile and apparel value chain, highlighting also the broad awareness that, in the words of IAF President Cem Altan: “Apparel and textile manufacturers hold the keys to meaningful, positive change. Initiatives such as decarbonization, reducing overproduction, enhancing transparency, and driving digitalization are critical — and they rely heavily on the efforts and investments of manufacturers.”

K.V. Srinivasan, ITMF president, pointed out: “The textile and apparel industry is going through a perfect storm of high input costs and low demand squeezing profit margins and leaving more and more capacities idle. Nevertheless, the winners of the ITMF Awards 2024 in the categories ‘Start-up’, ‘Sustainability & Innovation’ and “International Cooperation’ highlighted the capability of the industry to innovate and work together.”

Furthermore, the increasing regulatory pressures on the industry around the world were highlighted, with a call for shared responsibility. Cem Altan, IAF president: “We are all aware that the apparel and textile industries are increasingly subject to regulation. As meeting these sustainability standards can be costly, it is crucial that the financial burden is shared equitably among all supply chain partners, from raw material to end consumer.”

“It is important that industry leaders and experts from the entire value chain meet in-person to discuss and analyze the short- and long-term challenges and opportunities of the industry going forward like sustainability, compliance, digitalization, or AI”, Srinivasan added.

ITMF and IAF are confident that the partnerships and insights emerging from this historic event will drive lasting, positive change across the apparel and textile industries.
