ITMA 2023 Exhibitor Preview: TOLKAR

IZMIR, Turkey — May 23, 2023 — TOLKAR, developing sustainable technologies for textile dyeing, washing and finishing processes, will present a new vision to the global industry at ITMA 2023.

TOLKAR, operating in the global market with its laundry and textile finishing machines that stand out with their technological, economical and eco-friendly features, will meet its visitors at ITMA 2023, to be held in Milan on June 8-14, with its textile dyeing, stone washing, denim washing and jeans washing products. The company, exporting its products to more than 40 countries and also distributing the world’s leading brands in its field such as COLMAC, SPEED QUEEN, BIKO, RENZACCI, will exhibit sustainable textile dyeing and sustainable washing and finishing solutions with ozone technology at booth E205-E206 in Hall 9. TOLKAR will also launch its data processing and visualization system for performance measurement for customers and performance reporting system for managers at its 300 m2 booth, where Full Smartex washing models and its own branded machines will be featured.

TOLKAR Board Member Ata Karace, explaining their expectations for ITMA 2023, stated that although they are located in strong textile markets, their production volumes have decreased to a certain extent due to the decreasing orders after the pandemic in these regions. Saying that there has been an increase in demand in hotels and accommodation facilities due to the revival in tourism and therefore, they can easily adapt to changing conditions, Karace continued his words as follows: “We look forward to meeting our existing customers as well as new ones at ITMA. We welcome all visitors looking for sustainable production solutions to our booth to see our Smartex washing and dyeing machines that reduce natural resource consumption rates by half and our eco-friendly ozone technology products.”

Ozone technology makes textile washing more sustainable

Ata Karace, reminding that the environmental footprint of textile production is very high today, emphasized the importance of ozone technology, which is of great importance in protecting water resources in this regard. Stating that when a sustainable production is provided with ozone instead of dyeing and washing garments, products with much less carbon footprint can be produced, Karace said: “Since 2013, TOLKAR started to develop ozone gas washing systems in the textile finishing sector, which was initiated in order to consume much less water, the world’s most valuable resource, and to eliminate heavy chemical wastes left to nature. Today, by dissolving ozone gas in water, we have managed to both shorten the process time and obtain clean water at the end of the process with much less water in textile washing steps. Thanks to this method, we have also eliminated the need for many heavy chemicals used in finishing processes.”

Karace noted that they have become the only company in the world that can produce 400 G spinning machines of any capacity thanks to SMARTEX and its ‘Smart Balancing System’, which they acquired with their patented technologies in 2008 and disclosed: “Thanks to the SMARTEX PolyRib ECO Drum system, we have managed to reduce water, chemical and energy consumption by half with MIRACLE, which is a first in the world, and we have created a revolution in this field by adding a new one to our technological developments with the production of Gas Heated Washing machines.”

Karace, saying that Smartex, which has half the water and all other consumption values compared to industrial type conventional machines, is the right solution for eco-friendly manufacturers, explained: “Thanks to Smartex washing models, textile manufacturers can produce products with a low carbon footprint. For example, thanks to the Smart Flow Nano Bubble system, some chemical washes can be done almost without using water and zero waste is achieved.” Stating that they aim to create products that will make a difference in technological, ecological and economic terms with the projects they carry out in their R&D centers in this context, Karace said that they continue to work to respond to market demands in production facilities where the latest production techniques, production machines and robotic tools with laser welding systems are used and that their goal is to reduce chemical consumption with ozone as much as possible for a better future.

TOLKAR strengthens in exports

Ata Karace explained that TOLKAR, which was founded in 1969, today serves the sector with three factories located in İzmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone and producing with the latest technology and more than 300 employees, and said that they have become the market leader by obtaining the title of Türkiye’s largest manufacturer. He stated that they produce 3500 machines of various models on average per year and continued his words as follows: “Our company exports these products to more than 40 countries and is a globally recognized brand. With our 19 regional sales and service directorates in Türkiye and more than 30 distributors and service points abroad, we provide timely sales and service to our customers professionally. For the last 3 years, our export sales have surpassed our domestic sales figures.”

Karace explained that they have also taken important steps in automation and Industry 4.0 applications, and said that they realized the installation of unmanned laundry and textile washing facilities with TOLKAR Future in 2019. Noting that they managed to establish an almost completely unmanned enterprise by controlling all washing, drying, chemical transfer, recipe preparation and reporting from a single center and providing loading and textile transfers with automatic conveyors, Karace said: “With the awareness that the only thing that does not change in the world is change, TOLKAR will continue to be an exemplary brand for new generations in the future in line with its mission today. We welcome all our visitors to our booth to experience innovation and transformation in the textile finishing industry.”

TOLKAR will be ready with its strong and experienced team to welcome its visitors in the best way at its booth in Hall 9, E205-E206 at ITMA 2023.

Outlook Conference 2023: Successfully Connects U.S Manufacturers And Fabricators

ROSEVILLE, MN — May 23, 2023 — Textile industry professionals converged on the up-and-coming, textile-rich city of Greenville, S.C., April 30-May 2 for three days of networking, information gathering and activities during the Advanced Textile Association’s (ATA’s) annual OUTLOOK® Conference.

Organized by the ATA Dvision, United States Industrial and Narrow Fabrics Institute (USINFI) and with additional programming by the Military and Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA) divisions, the event attracted nearly 100 attendees to the historic Westin Poinsett. A day and a half of informative business sessions were filled with knowledge and idea exchange as well as insights from various thought leaders in their areas of expertise.

Aside from business, attendees were able to attend a minor-league baseball game, participate in a golf tournament and stroll the bustling streets of downtown Greenville on a guided walking tour for foodies and history buffs that featured stunning views of the picturesque Reedy River falls. Greenville, which once boasted 19 textile mills and thousands of employees who called the mill villages home, still honors its textile heritage with a mural on the side of a three-story building downtown recognizing the city as the “Textile Center of the World.”

“I think we accomplished our goals for the conference,” said USINFI Chair Bob Hancuff of Burlan Manufacturing, Gastonia, N.C. “We wanted everyone to come away with something valuable, whether a new industry insight or personal connection with a colleague. I was personally able to do both.”

He added: “The educational programs were well above average. We had a solid set of programs that were able to reach all segments of our specialty fabrics membership.”

The first morning featured Military Sessions that ran concurrently with Infrastructure Sessions, which preceded an afternoon covering updates on Washington policy, a leadership panel and an interactive discussion on leading through uncertain times. Supply chain logistics, a fiber market update and an economic overview highlighted Day 2.

“My colleagues and I found the Military Sessions enlightening, with discussions surrounding current market challenges and opportunities,” said Karli Wolf, Trelleborg Business Development Manager, Government & Defense, Rutherfordton, N.C. “Networking with key executives and experts across industries was equally beneficial. ATA events continue to provide excellent platforms for discussion, debate and building connections.”

Greenville local Mike Alexander, vice president & general manager of industry supplier Frankl & Thomas, said the event left him energized and optimistic about the future of the industry.

“I enjoyed another OUTLOOK, and I always come away impressed,” he said. “It was a great conference. I learn something each time I attend, and the networking and fellowship among members are outstanding.”

Added Jeff Sponseller, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Miller Weldmaster, Navarre, Ohio: “OUTLOOK is an inspiring opportunity to share expertise that empowers all of us to shape the future of the industrial fabrics industry together.”

Speakers covered a plethora of important topics, including federal trade and policy updates by Auggie Tantillo, president of SRG & Associates and retired president & CEO of the National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO). He highlighted the recent USINFI Advocacy Days in Washington, D.C., where 24 separate meetings with elected officials or their staff took place, and legislative developments that included buy-American requirements under the National Defense Authorization Act, China 301 and forced labor issues, the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill and government procurement issues.

For the second year, presenter, Dr. Melissa Furman, MS, DBA, founder and consultant at Career Potential, LLC, captivated the audience with a deep dive into organizational leadership through uncertain times that are occurring at an accelerated pace. During the engaging, interactive session, she provided recommendations and strategies for navigating ongoing challenges such as generational preferences, employee burnout and work productivity, to name a few

To close out the conference, the highly sought-after Dr. Roger Tutterow, professor of Economics at Kennesaw State University, provided a riveting economic update in his typical homespun manner that mixes hard numbers with humor. Tutterow, who holds the Henssler Financial Endowed Chair and serves as director of the Econometric Center, discussed the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 on the retail sector and real estate, prospects for resolution of supply chain and labor market dislocations, the recent upturn in inflation and ongoing changes in Federal Reserve policy changes.

Join us May 5–7, 2024 at Wild Dunes in Isle of Palms, SC for the next OUTLOOK® Conference.

ITMA 2023 Exhibitor Preview: DIENES Apparatebau GmbH

MÜHLHEIM, Germany — May 23, 2023 — Given the anticipated rapid increase in demand for textile fibres in the years to come, it is crucial to implement transformative sustainable consumption and production models both in the garment and technical textile industries. In order to make out of biobased fibres a real competitor to established polymers like polyester or nylon, both securing feedstocks and a further development of spinning technologies will be essential. DIENES supports its customers in their work developing cutting-edge fibre products from the first laboratory tests to the modular construction of their production lines. Innovative products like precursor yarns for carbon fibres made from renewable raw materials are produced and improved with DIENES spinning systems.

A reliable development of textile and technical filament yarns demands an efficient, systematic and, in part, self-optimising experimental working system, which must be intelligent in gathering data from the process and flexible in enabling the rearrangement of the process. DIENES’s approach to meet such demands is called MultiMode®. In a MultiMode® plant, each process step is represented by a module which can be individually adapted to customer-specific requirements and has its own decentralised control. Thus, DIENES production lines consist of several intelligent modular units which can be easily exchanged and rearranged at any time with a reduced programming effort. Moreover, all production parameters can be permanently visualised and recorded, enabling a complete traceability of the process. The MultiMode® concept has been validated according to GMP guidelines and GAMP standards in the manufacturing of medical products.
