International Design Competition For Students

DENMARK — February 7, 2011 — A new ambitious project puts Denmark on the world map of smart
textiles. The opening of the project is marked by an international prize competition for students
with a prize of 6,500 EUR. Students from all over Europe are invited to take part, and the winner
is found on 12 May 2011, when TEKO, VIA University College in Herning is host for a summit for
international experts and companies working with smart textiles.

Many people are skeptical towards “smart textiles”. Smart textiles is still a niche area, but
within a few years, everybody talks about smart textiles. This is what TEKO, VIA University College
predicts, and TEKO works hard to make sure that Denmark will play a leading role when the textile
industry begins to invest in smart textiles on a large scale.

“Future Textiles focuses on smart textiles in many ways. The international prize competition
will help bring students’ ideas in circulation, and if Denmark and Europe is to play a leading role
in smart textiles, then students must also be part of it as they are the first links in the food
chain” says Ms. Hanne Troels Jensen, Director, Knowledge Center for Smart Textiles.

Government Support

The international prize competition is part of the most ambitious project within smart
textiles so far.  The project, known as

Future Textiles
, invites 35-40 leading international experts in smart textiles to come to TEKO in Herning
to exchange ideas and knowledge. The Dutch exhibition

Pretty Smart Textiles
focuses on the connection between fashion, textiles and technology. Workshops, seminars and
master classes for students, professionals and educators, aim to showcase the best of smart
textiles.

Future Textiles has a budget of more than 300,000 EUR and is supported by the Market Denmark
Foundation. The chairman of the foundation Mr. Jørgen Tandrup says:

“I am proud that the Market Denmark Foundation is supporting that Denmark can host the most
ambitious project to date in the area of smart textiles. An event of this caliber will put Denmark
on the map and give Danish Industry an advantage when it comes to smart textiles. In the long run
that can create economic growth and more jobs”

Prize Competition and Future Textiles

The international prize competition opens 1 February and closes again 4 April 2011. Five
finalists will be shortlisted and on 12 May a winner is found at TEKO in Herning, Denmark at the
international expert summit of Future Textiles. At the summit the 5 finalists will also have a
chance to present their projects to industry leaders and experts.

In May TEKO also hosts the Dutch exhibition,

Pretty Smart Textiles
, which showcases the possibilities that are created when technology and textiles are
combined. The prize competition and the exhibition are part of the three week event, Future
Textiles, which brings the world of smart textiles to Herning, Denmark.

2010 Plantings Of U.S. Organic Cotton Highest Since 2000

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — January 27, 2011 — U.S. growers of organic cotton increased plantings of organic
cotton acreage by 12 percent in 2010 over that planted in 2009, according to preliminary data
collected by the Organic Trade Association (OTA) in a survey funded by Cotton Incorporated.

Analysis of available data collected by an OTA survey of U.S. organic cotton producers and
incorporating additional data from the Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative (TOCMC) put
planted acres for 2010 at 11,827 acres, up from an estimated 10,521 acres planted in 2009. The 2010
number is the highest since 2000, when U.S. farmers planted 13,596 acres to organic cotton.

Although survey data show that planting has increased each year since 2003, overall cotton
acreage is 15 percent lower than in 2000 and 52 percent below the high of 24,625 acres planted in
1995.

The 2009 and Preliminary 2010 U.S. Organic Cotton Production & Marketing Trends report
produced by OTA as a result of the analysis estimates that approximately 9,321 acres of organic
cotton were harvested in the United States in 2009 and increased to approximately 11,262 acres in
2010.

Meanwhile, bale production increased eight percent between 2001 (the earliest available bale
data) and 2009, to reach 10,731 bales produced in 2009. Of these, 10,569 bales were upland cotton,
and the remaining 72 bales were pima cotton. The number of bales produced in 2010 is not yet
available. Because acreage data from the Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative (TOCMC) were
not available before 2007, earlier bale data, which do include TOCMC tallies, are likely the most
accurate reflection of historical production trends.

Looking ahead, farmers project 2011 plantings will increase by about 24 acres while they will
grow by about 13 percent, totaling 1,513 additional acres, in the next five years.

Survey responses from farmers suggest that this growth will not accelerate unless stronger
prices and consistent market demand entice organic growers to expand their organic cotton acreage
and/or conventional growers to transition to organic production. Other barriers to increased
production identified in the survey include high management requirements and competition from
international growers.

Freudenberg Nonwovens To Spike Again Prices For Polyester Spunlaid

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany, DURHAM, N.C., TAYUAN TAO-YUAN, Taiwan — February 3, 2011 — Effective
February 15, 2011, Freudenberg Nonwovens will increase global prices for the spunlaid sector in
consequence of the global rise on feedstock costs.

Due to damaged crops and after floods in Asia last year the industry is suffering a global
supply crisis in cotton. Supply constraints resulted in global cotton prices reaching the highest
level since the fiber trading started 140 years ago. A stronger demand on Polyester substituting
cotton as well as low PTA inventories lead to further price hikes across the polyester chain. The
markets in Asia, Europe and America are moving up steadily in prices to reflect higher feedstock
costs and higher quotes from Asian suppliers.

Freudenberg Nonwovens adjusted the prices accordingly in January and shared the costs with
reduced margins. “However, since costs are steadily increasing the current prices are no longer
reflecting the reality of our industry. As a temporary measure all our shipments will carry a
Polyester surcharge. Our customers will be informed in the next days”, explains John McNabb,
Managing Director Freudenberg Spunweb North America.

In Europe, near-term PTA and PET prognosis on pricing are for a further rise in February and
March. To compensate this increase internal measures will be continued. “Nevertheless, we will have
to pass costs partly to our customers”, comments Dr. Marc Schmidt, Director Marketing&Sales for
Tuft&Automotive segment. European customers will be informed of at least 10% price increase
starting mid February.

Upstream cost pressure and a strong demand resulted in PTA prices being pushed towards a 15
year high in Asia. Lin Gow Ming explains the situation: “It is difficult to adapt prices in Asia as
the region is so much diversified and every single market faces additional and many diversified
challenges in terms of supply chain costs. We will inform our partners of above 10% increase
range.”

Since Freudenberg lives a regional market approach, each regional marketing department will
inform its customers individually asking these measures, Freudenberg Nonwovens will secure to be a
global long term and reliable partner.

Woolrich Partners With Agion To Battle Odor

SALT LAKE CITY — January 20, 2011 — Woolrich, the Original Outdoor Clothing Company™, has partnered
with Agion®, a leader in anti-odor solutions, to launch the odor eliminating technology Agion
Active in the outdoor apparel market. Woolrich is introducing the new technology in its collection
of Merino and polyester blend base layers being introduced for Fall 2011.

“While wool has the natural ability to eliminate some odors, by incorporating Agion Active
into our base layers we are able to offer something that no other brand can — total confidence in
knowing that that no matter how hard you work or play you won’t offend those around you,” said
Jerry Rinder, Woolrich VP of Sales and Marketing.

Agion Active features a dual action technology that not only provides antimicrobial product
protection and industrial-strength odor elimination, but also eliminates odors both on and around
the fabric. Silver ion antimicrobial technology stops propagation of odor causing bacteria on the
fabric, while a natural, proprietary odor-trapping solution captures molecules from ambient odors.
Unlike previous odor control solutions, Agion Active eliminates odor from over 14 sources,
achieving performance well beyond what has been offered to the consumer. Agion Active regenerates
with each the wash and continues to perform for the life of the garment.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with Woolrich,” said Paul Ford, chief executive
officer of Agion. “Agion is already a strong brand for odor control in footwear and we are pleased
that our Agion Active technology for apparel can now be delivered by Woolrich, one of the most
authentic and respected brands in the outdoor industry.”

The Woolrich garments featuring Agion Active include the 50/50 polyester and Merino blend
men’s Territory crew and half zip shirts and women’s Poly Merino half zip and vee neck shirts. The
shirts’ fine micron merino fibers make them soft and comfortable next to skin and helps control
body temperature in all conditions while the antimicrobial protection, efficient moisture wicking,
quick drying, and UPF 40+ protection make them ideal for three season outdoor activities.

The Woolrich base layers with Agion Active will be available at select retail locations and
Woolrich.com in Fall 2011 with suggested retail prices ranging from $59 to $69.
