Getting Close To The Turkish Market — KARL MAYER’s Stand At ITM 2018 In Istanbul

OBERTSHAUSEN, Germany — April 25, 2018 — Turkey is one of KARL MAYER’s most important markets; accordingly well prepared was the company when traveling to the country’s leading trade fair in the field, the ITM. From April 14-17, 2018, the world market leader presented itself in Istanbul on a newly designed booth and with contributions that met the market demand precisely and completely. No trend was forgotten. So, the machines and technology presentations for the denim warp preparation sector and for the HKS machine range were just as densely surrounded as the decoration islands for displaying selected textile developments for different applications.

“Especially the terry topic attracted the customers‘ attention“, said Oliver Mathews, sales director of KARL MAYER’s Business Unit Warp Knitting. But also the stylish articles for the fashion sector were on everyone’s lips, and hands. “The visitors looked at the various garments, they reached for the fabrics, touched and examined them“, explained Gabriela Schellner, head of Textile Product Development. She was happy about the success of her fabric experience concept. She was, like the entire exhibition team, constantly in demand. Nearly 250 qualified discussions were conducted at the Karl Mayer exhibition stand, with customers from all over the world, but mainly from the host country and from Iran.

The conversations showed a very good mood within the line of business: “The willingness to invest among our existing customers is high,” said Bastian Fritsch, senior sales manager of Karl Mayer’s Business Unit Warp Knitting. He met all his customers, and usually had intensive discussions about specific projects, with legitimate hopes for contract conclusions.

Italy’s Textile Machinery Industry At FESPA, The World’s Largest Digital Print Exhibition

MILAN — April 2018 — Italy will be represented by a relevant number of textile machinery manufacturers at the upcoming FESPA Global Print Expo (May 15-18, Berlin). In addition to companies with their very own stand, six companies will set up shop in the common area created by ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers and the Italian Trade Agency. The Italian companies exhibiting in the ACIMIT/Italian Trade Agency area are: Arioli Group, Beta Machinery, Carù, Mcs, Monti-Mac and Unitech.

The event marks the very first time ACIMIT promotes a collective effort at the world’s foremost print exhibition. This presence is duly motivated, as explains ACIMIT president Alessandro Zucchi, “There’s no doubt that today’s digital transformation is one of the major development trends in production processes for the textile industry. Although digital print has not as yet totally replaced traditional print processes, everyone is expecting a strong growth trend for this production technology.”

Flexibility in production processes, reduction of time to market, great creativity in terms of possible patterns and colours, and a low environmental and economic impact are the primary attributes targeted by textile print manufacturers that have invested in digital technology. Zucchi points out that, “Italy, particularly the industrial district of Como, has played an essential role in innovative digital transformations. Many of the world’s major print manufacturers are Italian, and digital textile print technology has developed in our Country. Right alongside the most renowned print machinery brand names, we find functional digital print production process machinery, such as pre and post treatment machinery.”

At the upcoming FESPA Global Print Expo, visitors will thus be able to assess Italian technology on display, once again a major player in textile production processes.

Eriez® Introduces Two New Metal Detector/Magnetic Separator “Double Team” Systems

ERIE, Pa. — April 24, 2018 — Eriez® introduces two new Metal Detector/Magnetic Separator “Double Team” Systems which offer customers unmatched protection against ferrous and nonferrous metal contamination. In both of these system configurations, the metal detector and the magnetic separator work in conjunction to produce as close to a perfect product yield as possible.

The first new system is a Magnetic B Trap followed by an Xtreme® Liquid Line Metal Detector. The magnet removes the ferrous contamination from the pumped liquid product, improving product quality and minimizing rejected material from the downstream metal detector with automatic rejection. The metal detector is left to focus on detecting and rejecting non-magnetic tramp metals such as aluminum and stainless steel.

The other new system pairs a Magnetic Grate-in-Housing with an Xtreme Gravity Drop Vertical Metal Detector. The magnet removes the ferrous contamination from the gravity-dropped material, thus enhancing product quality and reducing rejected material from the downstream metal detector with auto reject.   The metal detector’s primary function is to detect and reject non-magnetic tramp metals including aluminum and stainless steel.

Both systems provide a rapid return on investment and boost productivity and profitability through reduced downtime and improved product quality. For customers in the food processing industry, Eriez “Double Team” systems ensure compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs and regulations set forth by various federal agencies.

Eriez designed these new systems to meet common application challenges. However, there are a wide range of Eriez “Double Team” combinations being successfully utilized in various light industry settings. Eriez metal contamination control experts work closely with customers to design the ideal system based on their unique application needs and requirements.

Home Furnishings Manufacturing Solutions Expo Update — New Manufacturing Study Points To Role Of Technology In Furniture Production

GREENVILLE, S.C. — April 23, 2018 — A newly released research study finds that American furniture and furnishings manufacturers place great value on the role of technology … but have their work cut out for them to get up to global standards.

“North America has the second highest number of respondents declaring that automated technology plays an essential role in their processes,” the study finds. “Half of North  American respondents would like to further develop the use of technology in their processes. However, American companies are the least likely to have CNC cutting or virtual prototyping solutions.”

The new research study, “What’s Rearranging the North American Upholstered Furniture Industry?” was conducted by the Centre for Industrial Studies and Lectra. It points to opportunities for American producers to significantly upgrade their production facilities through the use of technologies such as virtual prototyping.

Such technologies are a key element of the upcoming Home Furnishings Manufacturing Solutions Expo, taking place July 18 and 19 at Greenville’s TD Convention Center, nearby the Triad heart of the furniture business and accessible for companies based throughout the Southeast.

The Expo features a wide variety of exhibitors showcasing the latest in manufacturing equipment, systems, software and technology specifically developed for the furniture and home furnishings industry.

These manufacturing solutions are what is needed for American producers to address the changing market conditions of the industry, the study finds. “North American survey respondents rated demand for quicker deliveries and downward price pressure as their most pressing challenges,” the survey reported.

“Successful manufacturers are tackling their key challenges with concrete objectives and pragmatic business plans. Survey results reveal that streamlining costs, reducing delivery time and catering to personalized tastes will be critical for creating a competitive advantage in this market.” The research study makes it clear that technology, combined with brand development and an emphasis on product design can be the differentiating factor for successful furniture producers.

“Taking a technology-focused approach is the best way to develop and manage the extensive catalog, range of options, shorter delivery times and more rapid innovation in features and functionality that customers desire,” the report concluded.  “Those companies who have carefully invested in end-to-end hardware and software solutions, or plan to invest in the next few years, will be strategically positioned to meet current and future market challenges.”
