Colorkarma Joins Forces With Gerber Technology To Promote Collaboration Among Global Network Of Manufacturers And Suppliers For PPE Production

NEW YORK CITY — June 22, 2020 — Gerber Technology has partnered with the creative platform, Colorkarma, to develop an easy-to-use interface for the company’s PPE Manufacturing Matchmaking Program. As companies continue to rely on the Gerber PPE Task Force to successfully convert their current production lines to personal protective equipment (PPE), Gerber is committed to making the transition as seamless as possible.

“As companies all over the world are navigating through this difficult time, connecting to the right companies such as raw materials suppliers or companies who are able to cut or sew is essential to having a smooth transition to PPE,” said Karsten Newbury, chief strategy and digital officer at Gerber Technology. “Our partnership with Colorkarma will allow manufacturers to quickly find the exact contacts they need for fast and efficient PPE production.”

Together, Gerber and Colorkarma created a new directory for Gerber’s PPE Manufacturing Matchmaking Program. The program is designed to connect manufacturers with suppliers that can provide them the resources and support needed to successfully transition to PPE production. The new, easy-to-use directory includes contact information for all companies involved in the Matchmaking Program, allowing manufacturers to quickly find exactly what they’re looking for based on their needs, capabilities, and goals.

“We are excited to extend the Colorkarma platform to support Gerber’s PPE Task Force Initiative,” said Shoshana Burgett, owner of Colorkarma. “Colorkarma created the PPE directory to bring together designers, manufacturers, and suppliers in order to help businesses quickly shift their production from printing, packaging, textiles, etc. to PPE. Together, we can fight against the SARS-CoV2 pandemic and support the local, regional, and global PPE needs.”

“The Gerber PPE Task Force Resource Center and Matchmaking Program have brought together manufacturers, suppliers and related entities like I have never seen before,” said Jeff King of Apparel Manufacturing & Digital Services LLC. “Prior to this program, the research required to find the right partner for your needs was exhausting and time consuming.  Now I can review this list and, in a matter of minutes, find a variety of resources saving precious time and money. I have connected with five different companies, several of which show promise of a business relationship. I would like to thank Gerber Technology and Colorkarma for this wonderful resource.”

“I contacted Gerber in hopes of finding gowns to provide emergency dental treatment for patients with pain and infection,” said Dr. Natalee Peeters. “They were able to quickly connect me with a manufacturer who is producing the PPE I needed. Gerber is absolutely amazing for providing these life-saving services.”

In addition to the Matchmaking Directory, Colorkarma worked with Gerber to create an easy-to-use PPE Feasibility Matrix to identify the level of effort required to produce certain PPEs based on the manufacturers’ current production. Hyosung Introduces New creora® 3D Max At Kingpins24

SEOUL, South Korea — June 22, 2020 — Denim in its many styles and finishes is the ‘go-to’ apparel choice for consumers around the world, and all-day comfort without sacrificing lasting shape is in demand. To provide denim-lovers with jeans they want to live in, Hyosung has developed new creora® 3D Max spandex, which it will debut at the Kingpins24 virtual denim event taking place online June 23-24, 2020.

Hyosung introduced 3D Max spandex to give denim products dual performance features such ultra-stretch and excellent recovery that last over time. Jeans made with 3D Max offer a natural look and feel and allow for add-on details such as eco-friendly finishes and laser treatments.

“In denim, it has traditionally been difficult to get super stretch with low growth or bagging,” said Mike Simko, Hyosung’s global marketing director – Textiles.  “The industry wants more than 50 percent stretch, but they want it with less than 5 percent growth. While there is currently a way to achieve these targets, it can be expensive and constraining, therefore mills and brands have been asking Hyosung for a better solution. We are happy our creora 3D Max has filled this need.”

At Kingping24, Simko joins Tim Huesemann, director and shareholder of Panther Denim & Tat Fung, in a moderated discussion on the importance of collaborative developments and how the denim industry can benefit by all working together. Simko will also share more information about creora 3D Max spandex along with Hyosung’s GRS certified creora regen spandex made from 100-percent reclaimed waste, and forthcoming creora bio-based spandex. The pre-recorded interview will go live on Wednesday, June 24 in the 1 to 2 p.m. ET timeslot and can be viewed by visiting www.kingpinsshow.com.

Commissioning Of Polycondensation System Rounds Off Total Industrial Yarn Solution

REMSCHEID, Germany— June 18, 2020 — The Oerlikon Barmag Huitong Engineering joint venture, part of the Oerlikon Manmade Fibers segment, recently commissioned a polycondensation system which feeds a polyester industrial yarn system. The future operator will be industrial yarn manufacturer Jiangsu Solead New Material Group Co. Ltd., which is placing its trust in the Oerlikon Manmade Fibers ‘From Melt to Yarn’ total solution philosophy.

This successfully concludes the first phase of this major project. Oerlikon Barmag Huitong Engineering installed the polycondensation system, which has a capacity of 600 tons a day, at Jiangsu Solead New Material Group Co. Ltd. in the Chinese Jiangsu Province. This will be connected to an Oerlikon Barmag industrial yarn spinning system with a 350-ton-a-day capacity. The new systems will be deployed to produce predominantly high-tenacity (HT) yarns for use in agricultural, infrastructure, transport, security and outdoor applications. These systems can be used to manufacture yarns with up to 3 x 6,600 dtex of high yarn quality with simultaneously high production efficiency. Furthermore, low-shrinkage yarns for coating textiles and so-called LDI yarns (high-tenacity, low-denier industrial yarns) for industrial sewing yarns, among other things, are also manufactured.

Total solution from a single source

In addition to the polycondensation system, the extrusion equipment and spinning system, solutions provider Oerlikon Manmade Fibers is also supplying the complete engineering. The advantage for the customer: optimally harmonized process steps ensure high-quality yarn under economical production conditions.

The 54th Edition Of Filo: Quality And Safety In The Foreground

BIELLA, Italy — June 16, 2020 — The 54th edition of Filo has been confirmed: it will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, and on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at MiCo – Milan Convention Centre (via Gattamelata 5, Milan).

Filo is the only international B2B fair organized in Italy which is especially dedicated to yarns and fibers for top-of-the-range orthogonal weaving, circular knitting weaving and technical textiles.

However, the October 2020 edition is particularly important since it represents the first exhibiting date for yarns’ industry after theCovid-19 emergency, which has brought the cancellation or the deferment of exhibitions worldwide. The 54th edition of Filo, held in October, will be the starting point for the recovery of the presentations linked to the normal production’s cycle of textile-apparel industry.

The 54th edition of Filo represents a concrete signal of the willingness to highlight the centrality of the excellent production on the upstream supply chain. And exhibiting companies are perfectly aware of this: indeed, 80 percent of the companies have confirmed their presence at Filo to date.

On the other hand, the activity of Filo has never stopped, not even during the lockdown period. Filo has continued to communicate together with exhibitors and visitors, as usual.

With a view to October, Filo is now committed in the organization for the presentation of facts and details about the 54th edition to operators and the press. The meeting will be held on the 20th of July through a webinar and it will represent the opportunity to show to exhibiting companies and operators the product development proposals carried out by Gianni Bologna: for the 54th edition of Filo they are inspired by ‘Chromatic Reflections’.

Paolo Monfermoso, general manager for Filo, stated: ‘The presentation of the 54th edition of Filo will represent an important date for strengthening the dialogue that has never been stopped with the companies participating in Filo. On that occasion, we will reaffirm the clear rules and indications concerning the organization and behavioral standards which will allow both exhibitors and visitors to participate in the 54th edition of Filo in total safety. In collaboration with MiCo, we are working in order to implement all the necessary actions to respond to safety and public health regulations and to guarantee all operators a two-day Filo characterized by maximum comfort in totally sanitized environments”.

Oerlikon Neumag Celebrates Topping-Out Ceremony For The New Technology Center

NEUMÜNSTER, Germany — June 17, 2020 — With the construction of the new technology center for research and development, Oerlikon Neumag, the Neumünster-based German machine and plant manufacturer, is still fully on schedule. Only four months after the ground-breaking ceremony at the beginning of February, the topping-out ceremony could be celebrated today. Despite the conditions made more difficult by the corona crisis, the timetable was adhered to.

“A heartfelt thank you goes to all those involved for their excellent work. We are looking forward to moving into the new technology center at the beginning of 2021 in order to focus even more strongly on our customers in the development of our product lines”, said Oerlikon Neumag site manager Matthias Pilz, underlining the achievement of the next construction phase. However, the construction team still has a lot of work to do before normal operation can begin. Following completion of the 2,100 square meter hall in autumn this year, the new laboratory facilities will be installed and commissioned. Only then development work and customer trials can begin.

The signs at the Neumünster site are pointing to growth. With an investment volume in the two-digit million range, the new building documents the clear commitment of the Oerlikon Group to continuous future-oriented research and development work. The high-tech company’s new developments repeatedly set standards in the areas of professionalism, process stability and sustainability.

In Oerlikon Neumag’s more than 70-year history, numerous successful product developments are proof of the company’s innovative spirit. Today, more than 500 permanent employees work at the Neumünster site, of which almost 60 are in the research and development department alone.
