attune Launches Portfolio Of Solutions To Sense, Predict And Synchronize Response To Consumer Demand

BURLINGTON, Mass. — March 24, 2015 — attune Consulting today announced its Fashion Innovation Portfolio, a set of business solutions that help fashion companies better align resources and global supply chain partners to predict and dynamically respond to changes in consumer demand. Led by fashion industry veteran Marshall Gordon, attune’s chief innovation officer, the team will combine its years of fashion industry expertise to help retailers and fashion brands improve their ability to fulfill omnichannel consumer demand by leveraging the latest advances and combinations of cloud, mobile, big data analytics and multi-tier supply chain collaboration technologies.

“The demands of today’s digital consumers are accelerating beyond the ability of fashion brands to effectively respond with aging technology,” said Vajira De Silva, CEO of attune. “Brands are eager to use the latest technology tools to close the gap, but they’re often deployed in silos, providing only incremental improvements. We see a critical need for expertise that can create more holistic and responsive global supply chains. attune’s Fashion Innovation Portfolio combines this expertise with a set of highly integrated solutions that are targeted to the needs of fashion.”

attune’s Fashion Innovation Portfolio focuses specifically on synchronizing supply with demand to deliver responsive fashion – or real-time “sense and response” networks that capitalize on fast-moving fashion markets and consumers. Through these solutions, retailers and fashion brands can gain deep insight into consumer behavior and extend that knowledge across their supply chains in real time to fulfill demand exactly when and where it’s needed, and significantly reduce out-of-stocks and markdowns. The portfolio includes integrated solutions for:

  • Operations: Providing a consolidated infrastructure that unites wholesale, manufacturing and retail businesses on a single platform to create cross-channel, integrated operations.
  • Customer Intimacy: Combines real-time analysis of structured and unstructured customer data to deliver insights that provide a platform for high-touch, personalized “clienteling” to fashion consumers.
  • Value Chain Synchronization: Providing end-to-end visibility from consumer demand to planning and sourcing to facilitate response to current and future demand.

“The fashion industry has been built on a global network of independently operating businesses and processes,” said Gordon. “Fashion brands and retailers know there is value in synchronizing them, but technologies are only now beginning to mature to a point where they can be combined in real time to respond to consumer demand. We see a significant opportunity for brands and retailers to be more responsive while also improving their financial performance with end-to-end solutions that sense consumer behavior and incorporate that intelligence into planning and extended supply chain operations. In essence, this enables companies to respond to demand as it is happening.”

With more than two decades of fashion and lifestyle technology leadership, Gordon oversees attune’s solution strategy, roadmap and technology portfolio. Prior to attune, he was the senior vice president of worldwide sales, marketing and product strategy at Tradecard (now GT Nexus), a global supply chain specialist. He also served as SAP’s industry executive for the apparel and footwear industry, helping to launch and grow the SAP Apparel & Footwear (AFS) business.

“Marshall offers a lifetime of fashion solution expertise across all aspects of the business,” added De Silva. “His experience with the enterprise technologies and processes relevant to fashion will be invaluable as we continue to roll out initiatives for the Fashion Innovation Portfolio.”

Clariant’s Licocene® Waxes Reach Final Of German 2015 Innovation Prize

MUTTENZ, Switzerland — March 23, 2015 — Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, is a finalist in the prestigious German business innovation award,“Innovationspreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft 2015”, category Large Company. The achievement relates to Clariant’s Licocene® polyolefin-based waxes, recognized for advancing sustainability in textiles, plastics and coatings manufacturing and improving the environmental profile of a wide range of applications.

Licocene waxes give manufacturers the possibility to use fewer ingredients, reduce manufacturing steps, and use less resource-intensive production processes. For example in textiles, close cooperation between Clariant and Germany-based coatings and laminate specialist Lacom GmbH, has succeeded in changing energy-intensive, water-based textile coating technology to a less energy-consuming process of hot melt coating using very low amounts of Licocene additives. There are also environmental benefits for final products, such as improving the recyclability of textiles, or reducing product weight.

Licocene’s ability to support more sustainable processing is particularly valued in energy-intensive sectors, such as technical textiles for mattresses, furniture and carpets for automotive and aerospace interiors. They are also used in the manufacture of masterbatches and engineering plastics, as well as in industrial coatings, and in printing inks and adhesives for packaging applications.

The award jury of leading science and business representatives also acknowledged Licocene for promoting home-grown R&D and technical processing within Germany. The product’s development involved collaboration between Clariant’s researchers in Höchst and researchers at the University of Hamburg, leading to the piloting and building of a full-scale production unit in Germany. Clariant continues to work closely with its customers both inside and outside of Germany to use Licocene to bring sustainability advances to the market segments. As of 2016, the company will have achieved a 50% increase in its production capacity for Licocene to support the increasing interest in the product and its extensive application possibilities.

“This accolade for Clariant reinforces the increasing importance placed on sustainability within society today. With Licocene systems users can achieve significantly higher efficiency levels, supporting efforts to address current global challenges such as the efficient use of resources and energy,” comments Oliver Kinkel, Head of Business Unit Additives, Clariant.

Clariant joins fellow finalists for the 2015 award ceremony and gala dinner on March 21, 2015 in Frankfurt am Main. This is the second occasion a Clariant development has been acclaimed by the organizers. The company’s Exolit® halogen-free flame retardants were in the final of the“Innovationspreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft 2012/2013”.

New Smartrepel Hydro From Archroma Keeps Outdoor Clothing Dry And Naturally Cleaner

REINACH, Germany — March 19, 2015 — Archroma, has introduced a true innovation in water repellency for outdoor clothing with the launch of its Smartrepel Hydro line for polyester, polyamide and cotton-based textiles.

Smartrepel Hydro water repellent agents extend the benefits of high-performing, nature-friendlier protection to the full spectrum of fibers used in today’s outdoor segment.

A novel technology that is not based on fluorine chemistry, PFC, PFOA, PFOS or solvents, the Smartrepel Hydro product range supports the increasing adoption of eco-advanced materials and production processes by textile producers and brand owners adhering to industry initiatives such as the Joint Roadmap towards Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC)*, and eco-label standards such as bluesign®** and Oeko-Tex®***.

Smartrepel Hydro achieves a level of performance for cotton and synthetic fibers and blends as yet unattainable with alternative non-fluorine solutions, and similar to C6-based solutions.

Archroma’s micro-encapsulated technology uses a repelling agent and anchoring agent that together create a perfect symbiosis of water protection, breathability and durability. Its high water repellence performance for cotton, polyester and polyamide is tested according to AATCC 22. Thanks to the innovative technology developed by Archroma’s R&D experts, the finish overcomes the limitations of comparable non-fluorine products currently available on the market, and achieves a soft and bulky hand-feel and strengthens the fabric against abrasion and tearing, without any yellowing.

These effects combine to create a durable, weatherproof garment that is flexible, soft to the touch and not sticky. Smartrepel Hydro’s protective properties last for more than 20 washing cycles, reaching the pinnacle of what is technically possible for any non-fluorine solution today.

The range comprises Smartrepel Hydro CMD designed for cellulosic fibers and blends, and Smartrepel Hydro PM for synthetic fibers.

“We are quite excited to introduce this technology to the market. Smartrepel Hydro combines two benefits that were long awaited, especially by the outdoor textile segment: a nature-friendlier chemistry, together with long-lasting, efficient water repellency for both synthetic and cellulosic fibers. With its strong eco-profile, supported by recognized eco-certificates, and unmatched performance Smartrepel Hydro now offers the market a positive alternative to conventional fluorocarbon-based water repellency products,” comments Georg Lang, Global Head of Product Marketing Finishing, Textile Specialties, at Archroma.
