Nanotex Expands Business Development Team

BROOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. — April 11, 2016 — Nanotex® — a Crypton company and provider of nanotechnology-based textile enhancements to the apparel, home and commercial/residential interiors markets — has announced the expansion of its business development team. John McMichael has been hired as the Business Development Manager for North America for Nanotex. He will split his time between the company’s High Point office and its Kings Mountain, N.C., research and manufacturing facility.

McMichael joins Nanotex from AEC Narrow Fabrics, where he was the sales manager responsible for growing the military and commercial segments of the business. He previously served as the commercial sales manager for Narricot Industries working closely with its research and development team to bring new products to market. Additionally, John has held various sales, marketing and research and development positions at Custom Screens, International Textile Group and Burlington Industries Inc.

“John’s deep background in working closely with apparel and textile companies will aid us in our ongoing mission of expanding our network of brand and mill partners,” said Randy Rubin, Chairman of Crypton. “He has extensive knowledge in introducing new products to the US marketplace, which makes John the ideal candidate to help Nanotex grow its domestic market share.”

McMichael’s responsibilities at Nanotex include working closely with the research and development team to create new, groundbreaking products for Nanotex to bring to market.

Nanotex is comprised of a family of 11 products, such as Resists Spills, “Releases Stains,” “Neutralizer” and “Coolest Comfort”, and includes the important enhancement of the integration of a DNA marker to protect against counterfeiting. The brand has more than 100 manufacturer partners worldwide, including not only in branded apparel and outdoor gear, but home textiles and contract and residential interiors markets as well. Brand partners include Banana Republic, the Gap, Gymboree, Target, Dickies, Cabela’s, L.L. Bean, Burton, UnderArmour, Ashworth, Nordstrom, Hanes, Macy’s and others.

Filtration® 2016 International Conference & Exposition To Explore “Pure Need”

McRae Imaging Drives Growth With EFI Reggiani Digital Printer Purchase

FREMONT, Calif. — April 11, 2016 — Toronto-based digital textile printer McRae Imaging has expanded its presence with its second Reggiani printer. The company recently purchased an EFI™ Reggiani ReNOIR 340 printer to meet growing demand for high-quality fabric-printed displays.

McRae was the first North American business to buy a Reggiani printer, and now is the first in North America to install an EFI Reggiani printer since EFI’s acquisition of Reggiani Macchine. The new printer increases the company’s maximum digital textile output to 13,000 square feet per (1,200 square meters) per hour.

In Murray’s experience, Reggiani printers’ capabilities essentially sell themselves to print buyers. “When people come to visit us and see what the machine is and what we have done with it, well, it pretty well seals the deal,” said Bob Murray, co-owner and CEO, McRae Imaging. “It gives us the opportunity to show people what we can produce; having this machine has done wonderful things for us. And we’re looking forward to working now with EFI.”

Today’s McRae Imaging got its start in 1997, when Murray and Richard Kisiel purchased what was, at the time, one of the best shops in North America for reproducing photographic images and prints. McRae Imaging became one of the first shops in North America to start printing on fabric.

After getting established in the fabric printing market, Murray and Kisiel purchased their first Reggiani ReNOIR printer, a 3.4-meter machine capable of printing on a wide range of substrates. Before installing that printer, McRae Imaging’s equipment could process about 3,000 square feet (279 square meters) per hour. Now, the company can do upward of 6,500 square feet (603 square meters) per hour. “The Reggiani printer allowed us to take on jobs we couldn’t produce fast enough before,” Murray explained.

The newly purchased EFI Reggiani printer increases McRae Imaging’s output to up to 13,000 square feet (1,200 square meters) per hour.

An eco-friendly alternative to traditional printed signage

In addition to gaining productivity and quality, McRae Imaging has reaped other benefits from Reggiani technology. The company’s Reggiani printer is a very eco-friendly machine, running water-based inks with little to no odor and low power consumption. McRae Imaging’s customers also see savings on the shipping, since their pieces are much lighter-weight than other materials used in the signage and graphics industry. Plus, fabric-printed signs fold up to create smaller packages, for even lower shipping costs.

EFI Reggiani printers also offer increased sustainability because they produce high-quality printed textiles while using less ink. The printers’ ink recovery system is especially beneficial in the amount of savings it can create for customers.

“There are just so many advantages to fabric printing,” Murray noted. “There was a point in 2008 where people were started to talk about eco-friendly, but then the downturn happened. Now I’m seeing it start to come back as people recognize that we have to watch the environment. Our machines are eco-friendly, and that’s another advantage to the Reggiani printers.”

Monforts Introduces 7-Meter-Working-Width Montex XXL Stenter

MÖNCHENGLADBACH, Germany — April 11, 2016 — A. Monforts Textilmaschinen has introduced a new 7-meter-working-width Montex XXL stenter for the technical textiles and nonwoven industries.

The Montex XXL has been designed to meet demand from the technical textiles and nonwovens industry segments such as, for example, geotextiles, for finishing wider width fleece and fabrics.

Heat distribution is a key engineering element of the Montex XXL requiring even temperature distribution over the full 7m width and the distance from the fabric entry into the stenter through to the fabric exit.

Monforts CADstream nozzles for wide width working have been computer designed and ensure the best even temperature distribution and the highest homogeneous airflow over the full width.

The new Montex stenter is also equipped with the proven Monforts TwinAir system for individual adjustment of lower and upper nozzle pressures.

For heavier weight fabrics a supporting belt can be fitted between the upper and lower nozzles of the stenter for mark-free fabric transport through the stenter.

In keeping with Monforts commitment for sustainability and energy savings the Montex XXL features the integrated heat recovery system, fitted as standard on all new Montex  stenters.

The system comprises a compact, air-to-air heat exchanger, which is installed within the roof structure of the stenter. The heat exchanger uses energy from the exhaust gas to preheat up to 60% of the incoming fresh air entering the stenter.

Dependent on the production conditions, this provides energy savings of 10 to 35 percent.

ITEMA Group Announces 2015 Results, Third Year In A Row Beating Expectations

COLZATE, Italy — April 8, 2016 — Itema has announced results for the full year (FY2015) ended December 31st, 2015, maintaining a positive trend for three years in a row. The Group closed the year with total sales up 11 percent compared with the previous year, registering an upward trend across all the business units. Weaving Machine sales were up 14 percent year-on-year (yoy), whereas Spare Parts turnover grew by some 4 percent yoy, continuing the reversal in the recent years of the decade-long-decline in demand for OEM parts. EBT climbed 30 percent yoy due to increased efficiencies and continued cost reduction measures.

Teijin Frontier Establishes Subsidiary In The Americas

TOKYO — April 8, 2016 — Teijin Frontier Co. Ltd., the Teijin Group’s fiber-products converting company, announced today that it established Teijin Frontier Mexico S.A. DE C.V in Mexico City on February 3 as its first automotive material subsidiary in the Americas.

The company will manufacture and sell materials for auto manufacturing and serve as a headquarters for the North American market, where Teijin Frontier is aiming to expand market share by supplying rubber and materials for car seats and airbags to Japanese and other automobile companies operating in Mexico. Sales and marketing activities are scheduled to begin in July 2016.

IVL Acquisition Of Cepsa Business In Spain Complete

BANGKOK, Thailand — April 8, 2016 — Indorama Ventures Public Co. Ltd. (IVL) has completed the acquisition of 100 percent of the purified isopthalic acid, polyethylene terephthalate (PET and Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA)) assets of Cepsa Química S.A., a subsidiary of Compañía Española de Petróleos S.A.U. (“CEPSA”) in Guadarranque-San Roque, Cadiz, Spain. The company will be renamed Indorama Ventures Química S.L.U. The acquisition makes Indorama Ventures a world-leading producer of Isopthalic Acid, a key chemical additive in the manufacture of PET for packaging as well as consolidating our strategy in Europe.

“The acquisition provides Indorama Ventures with a stronger base in Europe and will allow us to simplify logistics costs in the region,” said Aloke Lohia, Group CEO, IVL. “The addition of the key chemical, isopthalic acid, provides us with a high value-added business that is a good fit in our international strategy.

“Our Spanish assets will complement Indorama Ventures’ existing portfolio in Europe with consolidation of PTA and PET assets and with addition of PIA, a high value add business. We see some debottlenecking opportunities at the plant that will increase efficiency,” Lohia added.

Rockline Industries Celebrates 40th Anniversary
