Dow Launches INTELLIFRESH™ Global Branding Program

MIDLAND, Mich. — August 10, 2015 — Dow Microbial Control, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Co., has introduced a global branding and comarketing program that will signal to hygiene-conscious consumers that the products they purchase feature built in odor protection and longer lasting freshness. “The growing desire of consumers for solutions to control odors has become an increasingly important trend in the marketplace and has changed their priorities when they purchase products,” said Karel Williams, global strategic marketing associate director and brand manager for Dow Microbial Control.

“The IntelliFresh label will give consumers peace of mind that the products they are buying support their attitudes, expectations and perceptions about hygiene and fit the lifestyles they are striving to achieve.”

The increasing consumer emphasis on hygienic lifestyles and practices is underscored by proprietary Dow research which showed that:

  • More than 60 percent of consumers surveyed indicated a very high concern about bacteria, parasites, dust, mold and the like in the home.
  • Sixty percent of those surveyed, who do not currently own products with odor-protection properties, are interested in future purchases of products with durable protection against odor- or infection-causing bacteria.

Burlington, Cone Denim Fabrics Clothe Team USA For Opening Ceremony

GREENSBORO, N.C. — August 5, 2016 — Fabrics from Burlington and Cone Denim, both divisions of International Textile Group, are part of the official Team USA uniforms that the American Olympians will wear in tonight’s opening ceremony. The fabrics were produced in several of ITG’s facilities in North Carolina. The Olympic Opening Ceremony airs this Friday, August 5th at 7:30 pm EST.

The opening ceremony uniform, designed by Ralph Lauren, includes a white jean and a blue blazer. The jeans are made from white stretch selvage denim manufactured at the iconic White Oak plant in Greensboro, North Carolina. The custom denim was woven on 1940s vintage shuttle looms which produce a distinctive selvage (or sewn) edge on the fabrics reminiscent of denim styles dating back to the early 1900s. The Olympian denim was designed with a red, white and blue selvage.

The blazer uniform fabric was produced across several Burlington manufacturing locations in North Carolina including plants in Raeford and Cordova North Carolina. The worsted wool fabric began with wool fiber dyed at the Burlington Raeford Plant which was later woven into fabric at the company’s Cordova plant. The fabric returned to the Raeford plant for final processing. The Raeford plant is the same facility known for producing the fabrics for the U.S. Military Dress Uniforms for the Marines, Army, Airforce, Navy and Coast Guard.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of dressing Team USA,” says Ken Kunberger, President & CEO of International Textile Group. “Our Burlington and Cone Denim brands have such a strong American legacy and heritage of outfitting the heart and soul of our country including farmers, cowboys, business men, celebrities and our United States military. We are excited to continue the tradition by making iconic fabrics for our US Olympians.”

CMT, BRÜCKNER Partner

LEONBURG, Germany — August 9, 2016 — Compagnie Mauricienne de Textile Ltée (CMT) is one of the leading garment manufacturers in the world. Headquartered in Mauritius with design and marketing offices in the UK and France, CMT specializes in fast-fashion jersey-wear for high-street retailers in Europe and the United States.

CMT has the largest vertically-integrated manufacturing plant in the Sub-Saharan region. Renowned for its world-class facilities, state-of-the-art investment and visionary leadership, CMT has earned the reputation of an ever-rising reference in the industry.

The company was set up in 1986 by François Woo Shing Hai and Louis Lai Fat Fur. Stemming from simple and humble ideals, CMT has lived up to its core vision of becoming the world’s leader in the jersey-wear industry. All the CMT Directors have been with the company from its conception in 1986, relentlessly leading and guiding the growth and development of the company ever since. Standing on the shoulders of giants, they are today the visionaries spearheading the progress of the company and its people.

Back in 1998, CMT and BRÜCKNER jointly set forth towards an unprecedented pioneer venture and installed the first Brückner stenter with the patented split-flow air circulation technology. This line is today still perfectly in operation and has been established as one of the work-horses of CMT’s production line.

Recently, CMT partnered with Brückner technology for a one of a kind machine specialised in the finishing of highly sensitive knitted fabric, with an elastane content of up to 15 percent. The focus of this innovative concept was above all an absolutely low-tension material flow and the shortest possible fabric path in order to reduce residual shrinkage.

From the pin-on-point to the interior of the dryer, the machine characterizes a belt that supports the moist fabric over the complete width. This is particularly important for sensitive knitted fabric and prevents sagging and fabric distortions. The belt is coated with a Teflon which has undergone special treatment and this technology has proved its effectiveness in avoiding marks and snags on delicate fabric.

As part of the design of this special machine, Brückner once again used the proven and patented split-flow air circulation system. This system achieves a considerable output increase through aerodynamic optimization, with even reduced energy consumption and an air circulation that treats the fabric gently. The additional counter-arrangement in each half-zone, in combination with the patented Venturi-mixing, allows the customer to adapt the circulating air temperatures for each process individually in each half-zone. Additionally, the air impingement above and below the fabric web is adapted to the drying profile of the fabric via two speed-controlled fans. This leads to an ideal temperature distribution and to an extremely homogeneous and gentle air impingement on the fabric web. The additional use of special nozzles leads to a gentle relaxation effect on the fabric.

True to its forward-thinking core vision, CMT corroborated its commitment to the environment by backing the acquisition of the machine with a Brückner heat-recovery system. The heat from the exhaust air is used to pre-heat fresh air. This fresh air is admitted to the drying process at several points so that the drying process can take place constantly with the best possible fresh air / exhaust air ratio. In addition, the consumption of thermal energy can be visibly reduced and thus allows a significant reduction in the production cost. CMT uses the new finishing line mainly for superior finishing processes with delicate fabrics.

Positioning itself as a world-wide leading producer of system solutions for textile finishing, the family-run Brückner Group stands for innovative power and technological competence. Brückner has been developing, designing and manufacturing premium lines for the dry finishing of textiles and technical fabric for more than 66 years. New applications with finer knitted fabric and at the same time more delicate fibers, need new concepts and customized solutions. With the technological know-how and decades of experience, BRÜCKNER pride itself to be able to supply each customer with an individual tailor-made machine concept as per their specific needs. As validated by the long-term and prosperous partnership between BRÜCKNER and CMT, the intense process of engineering and complementary advisory service to customers it works with are today important aspects of its business.
