ICAC Opens Applications For Researcher Of The Year Award

WASHINGTON — February 2, 2015 —The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) has opened applications for the “ICAC Researcher of the Year Award 2015.” This annual award was instituted in 2009 and is the most prestigious recognition offered to cotton researchers all over the world. Researchers from universities and public sector research organizations from ICAC member government countries are eligible to apply. The closing date for receipt of applications is March 31, 2015. Full information about the program is available at https://www.icac.org/tech/ICAC-Researcher-of-the-Year-Award.

Eligibility for the award is based on research work that currently or potentially will benefit the farming community and on advances in research in any aspect of cotton production, including fiber quality and processing of cotton. In the interests of impartiality, the entire evaluation and selection process is conducted by a select group of eminent scientists whose identity, with the exception of that of the Chair of the Award Panel, is kept secret from the ICAC Secretariat.

Applications should only be sent to the address: nominations2015@icac.org. Applications sent directly to ICAC staff members will not be considered for evaluation.

As a token of appreciation, the winner will receive a shield, an honorarium of US$1,000, a certificate, and the title “ICAC Researcher of the Year 2015.” The winner will be invited to make a presentation on his/her vision for cotton research at the 74th Plenary Meeting of the ICAC, to be held in India in the last quarter of 2015.
