India-based Sack Producer Installs Starlinger’s 100th AD*STAR® Conversion Line

Alliance Polysacks Pvt. Ltd., an India-based producer of AD*STAR® block bottom valve sacks, has
installed an ad*starKON 60 conversion line, manufactured by Austria-based Starlinger & Co. GmbH
— a manufacturer of machinery and complete lines for woven plastic bag production and polyethylene
terephthalate (PET) recycling and refinement. The line is the 100th ad*starKON line Starlinger has
sold worldwide.

Alliance Polysacks, founded in 2010 and a member of India-based industrial packaging bags
supplier SPPL Group, will use the new line to produce woven polypropylene Ad*Star sacks that can be
filled with dry bulk goods such as cement, chemicals, fertilizer and foodstuffs such as grains and
rice. The company currently has a production capacity of 63 million sacks per year and plans to
increase that capacity to 132 million sacks per year.

According to Starlinger, the sacks are lighter-weight than paper or polyethylene sacks used
for such applications. The production process, introduced in 1996, involves the use of patented hot
air sealing technology rather than glue or adhesives, and the bags produced are fully recyclable.
The ad*starKON line can produce up to 60 sacks per minute and boasts greater than 85-percent
efficiency, the company reports.

Features include machine-oriented operation with touch screen, integrated quality assurance
system, magnetic transport system, double unwinding stands for the main fabric and the patch rolls,
additional fabric roll monitoring system on all unwinding stations, and semiautomatic roll
changeover. An optional microperforation unit can be used when bags will be filled with highly
aerated goods. The company reports that while the bags are highly air-permeable, product emission
is virtually zero.
