CLEVELAND — December 1, 2011 — PolyOne Corporation, a premier global provider of specialized
polymer materials, services and solutions, today introduced Geon™ Adept homopolymer vinyl
dispersion resin, featuring high clarity, fast fusion, low melt viscosity, and non-settling
Manufacturers of plastisol textile printing inks, hot melt plastisols, and polyurethane
caulks will benefit from Geon Adept’s novel combination of properties, allowing them to grow
revenues and profitability by expanding their range of offerings, decreasing cycle times and
Frank Tomaselli, general manager, PolyOne Specialty Coatings and Resins, said, “This new
product helps customers overcome challenges in a number of niche applications, and demonstrates
PolyOne’s commitment to developing specialized solutions for our customers.”
Screen printers using textile printing inks made with Geon Adept vinyl resin can benefit from
improved color intensity and higher clarity, imparting a superior product appearance. The high
clarity of Geon Adept is ideal for special-effect inks such as metallic flake pigments. Geon Adept
offers longer shelf life and less waste due to its improved viscosity aging performance. In
addition, the resin’s fast fusion properties also make it suitable for use in “high build” inks,
offering an alternative to copolymer resins. Moreover, the resin’s non-settling characteristics can
also extend the shelf life of the formulated ink.
For hot melt plastisol production, with its low melt viscosity, Geon Adept vinyl resin helps
to increase productivity. Its improved non-settling performance extends plastisol pot-life while
reducing stirring, prep time, and scrap.
When used in polyurethane construction caulk formulations, Geon Adept offers low moisture
absorption and aids in developing yield, providing ease of application and sealing integrity.
Geon™ Adept vinyl resins are available globally.
