ROCK HILL, S.C. — August 26, 2026 — SDL Atlas is proud to announce the donation of a new Vortex M6 laboratory laundering instrument to AATCC (The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists), reaffirming the company’s long-standing commitment to advancing standardized textile testing and supporting the global textile testing community.
The donation coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Vortex M6, the laboratory laundering instrument developed by SDL Atlas specifically to meet the requirements of AATCC Monograph M6 and Laundering Procedure 1 (LP1). Since its introduction in 2016, the Vortex M6 has become a trusted solution for laboratories seeking highly controlled, repeatable laundering conditions for textile performance testing.
The Vortex M6 was developed in response to an industry-wide need for a standardized laboratory laundering system capable of delivering repeatable results aligned with AATCC standard based testing. As consumer washing machines evolved to meet new environmental and energy regulations, laboratories faced increasing challenges maintaining consistency in shrinkage, appearance, and durability testing.
