Fashion Industry To Meet After The U.S. Presidential Election And Discuss Impact On Trade & Business Outlook

WASHINGTON — November 3, 2020 — Dozens of global fashion brands, retailers, importers, and industry service providers will convene virtually November 10-13, 2020, for the 2020 Apparel Importers Trade & Transportation Conference. Hosted by the U.S. Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) and American Import Shippers Association (AISA), the event will bring together executives working in compliance, logistics, sourcing, supply chain management, government relations, and corporate social responsibility to discuss the impact of the elections on trade and business, as well as other hot topics.

Tuesday November 10: Politics and Trade Policy

Updates from the Election and Trade Policy Forecast with David Spooner, USFIA Washington Counsel, Partner at Barnes and Thornburg LLP and Scott McCandless, Partner in PwC’s Washington Tax Practice will share their insights and predictions.

Wednesday November 11: Economic Outlook and Sourcing Perspectives

Keynote: The Future of Retail & The New Normal with Kelly Pedersen, Managing Director at PwC, will focus on planning for 2021 and talk about how COVID-19 and the global pandemic affect the fashion industry.

Sourcing Perspectives from an Industry Leader with Jim Schwartz, CEO, MGF Sourcing, who will share his insights on global sourcing today and strategies for successful brands and retailers.

Thursday November 12: Logistics

Mario Cordero, Executive Director, Port of Long Beach and Former FMC Commissioner will give an update on port infrastructure, and port terminal services as well as the major factors which contribute to current port congestion. He will also advise importers and other supply chain stakeholders on how they can speed up container movements from port terminals to distribution warehouses or railheads.

Friday November 13: Conscious Fashion

Conscious Fashion: A Look at Collaboration and Technology this panel discussion, moderated by Tricia Carey, Director of Business Development at Lenzing, will look at collaborations in Conscious Fashion across the industry with Amit Gautam at Textile Genesis and Elizabeth Cabral at SustainChain.
