New Leaf Society To Celebrate 10 Years Of Accomplishments

BURLINGTON, N.C. — May 20, 2019 — New Leaf Society, a private, non-profit organization focused on beautification and community partnerships in Alamance County, will host a celebration on Wednesday, June 5, to honor 10 years of partnerships and accomplishments in the heart of central North Carolina.

The event will be held at the new Sunbrella Headquarters on the corporate campus of Glen Raven, Inc., located at 142 Glen Raven Road in Burlington. Sunbrella HQ opened as the brand’s global headquarters earlier this year in a renovated mill building dating back to Glen Raven’s founding in 1880.

“It’s only fitting that New Leaf Society will celebrate its milestone anniversary in the renovated building built by the grandfather of the society’s founder, Allen E. Gant, Jr.,” said Rett Davis, president of New Leaf Society. “The society’s mission is to select transformational projects with long-lasting impacts in Alamance, and Sunbrella HQ is a transformational project in its own right.”

New Leaf Society was founded by Gant and formed in 2007 as an organization designed to work through partnerships to enhance the quality of life and economic prosperity in Alamance County. Modeled after the Noble Tree Society in Spartanburg, South Carolina, New Leaf Society’s purpose is to generate private funds to support city and community beautification programs, such as planting trees and creating landscaping projects.

“Alamance County is becoming a little greener thanks to New Leaf Society and the generous support of those who call the county home,” Gant said. “Glen Raven is proud to be a part of this success story, and it is an honor that the society’s efforts to transform Alamance will be celebrated in the first mill building my grandfather built and has since been transformed into Sunbrella HQ.”

The June 5 program will begin with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by an impact and celebration presentation at 7 p.m. Dinner begins at 7:30 p.m. and includes an art auction featuring works from local artists. As an awareness fundraiser for New Leaf Society, this event will be the only time Sunbrella HQ will be open to the public. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased at Dress is business casual and courtesy valet parking will be provided.
