Orthopac RVMC-20 Plus

The focus at the booth is the new Orthopac RVMC-20 plus straightening system, which sets new standards through a combination of feed-forward and closed-loop control.

“The system detects distortions even before they reach the correction rollers and corrects them in real time, without ever overshooting.” With this, Mahlo makes a key contribution to quality assurance and resource efficiency – two central requirements, especially in the Asian market.

The feed-forward control analyzes the web early at the inlet and proactively adjusts the roller positions. This is supplemented by AI-supported closed-loop control at the outlet, which enables precise adjustments even with short fabric lengths and dynamic distortions. Manufacturers of knitted fabrics, in particular, who struggle with rapidly changing distortions, are thoroughly impressed.

Another advantage: the system is retrofit-compatible with existing Orthopac RVMC-15 series installations – making it ideal for investors who don’t want to compromise on quality despite a limited budget.

In addition to the new straightening system, Mahlo will showcase two other key technologies for improved process reliability and product quality: The Famacont PMC-15 measures and controls weft or stitch density, helping manufacturers reliably meet residual shrinkage values – a crucial factor for international buyers.

The Patcontrol PCS-20 detects and controls pattern distortions and pattern repeats, ensuring quality in lace, footwear materials, terry cloth, carpets, and all patterned goods. Visitors will also have the opportunity to bring their own fabric samples and have them tested on-site.

VDMA Member Companies On Display At ITMA ASIA

FRANKFURT, Germany — September 10, 2025 — ITMA ASIA + CITME end of October in Singapore will see a strong participation of around 70 VDMA member companies. They will cover nearly all different machinery chapters along the textile value chain including spinning and man-made fibres, nonwovens, weaving, braiding, knitting & warp knitting, finishing & dyeing as well as technologies for textile recycling and processing of recycled material. VDMA initiated a German Pavilion with two group stands (spinning in hall 4 and finishing in hall 7) with a total of 30 exhibitors.

In general, Asia has been the number one production location for textiles and clothing in the world and will retain this position for a long time to come. So, it is no surprise that Asia is the most important sales market for the VDMA member companies. Almost half of German exports of textile machinery and accessories are shipped to Asia. In addition, numerous German textile machinery companies are producing locally with facilities e.g. in China, India and Vietnam.

Although German exports of textile machinery and accessories to Asia declined sharply in 2024, they stabilized overall in the first half of 2025. Deliveries to China, Uzbekistan and Pakistan even showed encouraging growth between January and June. It is hoped that this may be an indication of a more general upturn in global demand for machinery.

NCTO Applauds House Passage Of National Defense Authorization Act Closing Military Procurement Loopholes, Boosting U.S. Textile Supply Chain

WASHINGTON, D.C. — September 11, 2025 — The National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO), spanning the entire spectrum of U.S. textiles from fiber to finished sewn products, issued a statement today commending the House of Representatives for passing the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which contains provisions that could expand military procurement of American-made textiles.

The House NDAA bill, which sets policy and funding priorities for the U.S. military, includes a key provision that would eliminate a statutory exemption under the Berry Amendment that acts as a loophole allowing the U.S. military to buy textiles abroad instead of from American textile manufacturers as long as the purchase is at or below a small purchase threshold of $150,000. The loophole has undercut the Berry Amendment, which requires the Department of Defense (DOD) to purchase 100% U.S.-made textiles and clothing.

The NDAA also incorporates language from the Better Outfitting Our Troops (BOOTS) Act, championed by NCTO and a broad coalition, which directs the Secretary of Defense to issue regulations within two years that prohibit any member of the Armed forces from wearing optional combat boots unless they are made in the United States with American-made components, with limited exceptions. The measure closes another gap that has allowed active-duty troops to be supplied with foreign-made boots, undermining U.S. footwear manufacturers.

“We commend the House for passing the FY 2026 NDAA with these critical provisions that bolster American manufacturing, strengthen economic competitiveness, and ensure our Armed Forces are equipped with the best U.S.-made uniforms and gear,” said NCTO President and CEO Kim Glas. “Our industry produces more than 8,000 products annually for the U.S. military—including over $1.8 billion in uniforms, footwear, and personal equipment—and plays a vital role in our national defense.

“We appreciate the leadership of Congressman Don Davis (D-NC) and Congressman Pat Harrigan (R-NC), who led efforts to close the Berry Amendment loophole and co-sponsored the amendment to the NDAA,” Glas noted. “These provisions will expand opportunities for U.S. textile manufacturers, safeguard domestic supply chains, and ensure our troops continue to receive innovative, high-quality American-made products.”

“We urge the Senate to include these measures in its version of the legislation and look forward to working with both chambers to ensure the provisions are included in the final conference report.”
