Shaw Industries Ranks Among Forbes’ List Of America’s Best Employers For Diversity 2019

12 ReTech To Acquire Red Wire Group To Increase The Manufacturing Capability And Revenue Of Its Emotion Fashion Group Subsidiary

LAS VEGAS/HONG KONG — January 14, 2019 — 12 ReTech Corp. announced today that it has signed a definitive Exchange of Equity Agreement to acquire Salt Lake City-based Red Wire Group LLC (Red Wire) in a stock for stock transaction. Closing is scheduled to occur before the end of this month.

Red Wire is a profitable and efficient contract cut-and-sew manufacturer generating significant revenue and is located less than 100 yards from the company’s Emotion Fashion Group (EFG) facility. Red Wire Group has maxed out its own existing facilities capacity and can benefit from the excess capacity that EFG currently possesses.

Angelo Ponzetta, 12 ReTech’s CEO, stated: “We believe that Red Wire is very synergistic to our current EFG operation. In addition to the revenue and profits that Red Wire brings to the group we add efficiency and expertise to continue to drive down our production costs that began with our relocation of EFG from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. This extra capacity and efficiency will allow Red Wire to take on many more jobs that should catapult its revenue from its current $650,000 to three to four times that annually, while increasing our margins.”

Hub Blanchett, president of EFG, stated, “Being acquired by 12 ReTech was just the catalyst for future acquisitions. I am thrilled to team up with Red Wire. Their production team is outstanding and will allow our team to focus on revenue growth and delivery fulfillment.”.

Ponzetta continued: “We have been working on this acquisition throughout the holiday season and while we executed non-binding Letters of Intent we decided to wait until the signing of the Exchange Agreement to announce this news as our past experience with acquisitions has taught us that Murphy’s law typically applies at the signed Letter of Intent stage”.

Being a technology expert myself, I have seen what they are doing to help retailers improve themselves. Ponzetta added, “We have been informed that due to our current stock price OTC Markets intends to shortly remove us from their QB group. They have indicated that once our stock reaches and maintains the mandatory $0.01 threshold price for 10 days it’s a simple matter to regain the QB status. Historically, the QB designation hasn’t yet really benefitted our investors but the reporting requirements which we maintain as a QB stock will continue to be maintained. We are optimistic that with the important acquisitions we are closing, the investing public will view our Company more favorably and our stock should respond accordingly, allowing us to be re-certified as a QB stock.

“The target date for the completion of this acquisition is on or about January 23, 2019. The closing of this transaction is still subject to completion of due diligence and a few other details. Red Wire acquisition coupled with EFG acquisition provides us with a strong operating base for additional acquisitions we hope to announce soon.

VF Corp. Appoints Laurel Krueger As Vice President, General Counsel Of Kontoor Brands

GREENSBORO, N.C. — January 14, 2019 — VF Corp. today announced that Laurel Krueger has been named vice president, general counsel of Kontoor Brands Inc., the independent, publicly traded company that will result from the previously announced separation of VF’s Jeanswear organization.

In this role, Krueger will oversee Kontoor Brands’ legal function, including compliance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. She will serve on Kontoor Brands’ executive management team, reporting directly to named CEO Scott Baxter, effective immediately.

“Laurel is a seasoned legal executive with nearly 20 years of experience, including in the retail industry,” Baxter said. “Her breadth of leadership experience with multinational corporations will be an asset to our team as we embark on our new journey as an independent company and grow our business in the denim and apparel categories.”

Krueger joins Kontoor Brands from Signet Jewelers Ltd., the world’s largest retailer of diamond jewelry, where she served as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. She previously held a variety of legal leadership roles at publicly traded companies in retail and manufacturing, including Federal-Mogul Corp., Tecumseh Products Co. and Borders Group Inc.

Krueger earned a bachelor’s degree with high distinction from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She earned a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School, and a Master of Business Administration with distinction from the University of Michigan-Dearborn School of Management.

The separation of VF’s Jeanswear organization is expected to be completed in the first half of 2019, subject to final approval by the company’s Board of Directors, customary regulatory approvals and tax and legal considerations. The new company will comprise the Wrangler®, Lee® and Rock & Republic® brands, and the VF Outlet business.

IACMI Showcases Composites For Automotive Lightweighting In JEC Composites Pavilion At The 2019 North American International Auto Show

KNOXVILLE, Tenn./DETROIT – January 14, 2019 – The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI – The Composites Institute) is showcasing composites innovations in lightweighting the automotive sector at the JEC Group’s Composites Pavilion at the 2019 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) January 14-17, 2019. IACMI – The Composites Institute, a national public private partnership comprised of 160+ members, is committed to increasing domestic production capacity and manufacturing jobs across the U.S. composites industry. The institute is driven by the University of Tennessee and supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and other partners. IACMI’s participation in the Composites Pavilion is sponsored by IACMI partner, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).

At the Composites Pavilion, IACMI – The Composites Institute will highlight research and development initiatives that are driving the future of composites for automotive lightweighting. IACMI is showcasing the first large injection molded automotive prototype made with low-cost textile-grade carbon fiber.  Produced by IACMI members Techmer PM, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and Michigan State University (MSU), this innovative production approach yields an estimated cost savings of 40 to 50 percent compared to a 50,000 filament tow commercial counterpart. The textile carbon fiber was produced by ORNL at the Carbon Fiber Technology Facility (CFTF). TechmerPM addressed unique compounding challenges to provide pellets of PA66, a commonly used thermoplastic nylon, reinforced with 25% of the textile carbon fiber. MSU tuned the molding parameters for the unique compound and produced full-size fenders through injection molding at the IACMI Scale-Up Research Facility (SURF). Through this collaborative effort, textile carbon fiber was injection molded using the Milacron 3,000-ton injection press and at cycle times relevant for high-volume production. Additional trials have demonstrated the versatility of using different fiber content, including fenders with 10 percent and 45 percent carbon fiber content.

While traditional carbon fiber composites have long been touted for their weight savings in stiffness-critical automotive applications including automotive bodies, b-pillars, and other structural components, the implementation of textile carbon fiber makes these applications more cost-competitive with traditional, heavier materials. Textile carbon fiber has potential for significant impact in the automotive industry because of the reduced cost for supporting weight savings opportunities.

“The availability of textile carbon fiber opens new opportunities for lightweighting and design innovation in the automotive industry, and we are excited to be part of the JEC Group’s Composites Pavilion to showcase this material in a molded part,” said IACMI CEO, John A. Hopkins. “We are proud of this first-of-its-kind validation of technologies and look forward to seeing future implementation in automotive and other applications.”

IACMI innovation leadership for Michigan

Much of the validation for this research project was conducted at the IACMI Scale-Up Research Facility (SURF), which is co-located with partner Manufacturing USA institute, Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow (LIFT) in Corktown neighborhood in Detroit, Mich. SURF offers full-scale production testing of carbon fiber integration with processes from a Litzler prepreg machine to the only 4,000-ton Schuler compression molding machine available for research and development usage in North America. Additionally, the SURF also offers a 3,000-ton Milacron injection molding machine, which was utilized in this research project.

The SURF is managed and operated by IACMI partner, Michigan State University, and funded with support from MEDC, recognizing the opportunity for innovation leadership in Michigan. “The joint facility for IACMI and LIFT offers a unique opportunity to further lightweighting in the automotive industry through multi-material innovations,” said MEDC CEO, Jeff Mason. “The research done by both institutes further solidifies Michigan’s leadership in the future of the automotive industry. The innovations validated through IACMI’s textile carbon fiber project shows the attainable potential for integrating carbon fiber into the automotive industry to increase strength and stiffness in automotive components at competitive cost.”

Chomarat Invests In Its Coatings & Films Business: New Extruder, New Graining Line

PARIS — January 14, 2019 — Chomarat is developing its Coatings & Films business at its French sites. The group has just acquired an extruder and a graining line to increase its production capacities and develop new, more efficient solutions, particularly in the field of TPO (polyolefin thermoplastics). These two technological investments are part of the 35 million euro investment plan announced by the Group in mid-2017.

An Expanded Offer With The New Graining Line

The graining line gives texture to the coated textile and provides a differentiation of appearance or a functionalization, such as non-slip or durability. “We will use this new technology to broaden the scope of material we process (including the production of TPO sheets with or without backing), and to improve the perceived quality by a better grain definition,” explains Philippe Chomarat, director of the Coatings & Films business at Chomarat. TRSA To Host Mar. 27-28: 9th Annual Legislative Conference
