Xerium Technologies Unveils Advanced Rolls Product Series

RALEIGH, N.C. — Sep 16, 2010 — Xerium Technologies, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of
industrial textiles and rolls used primarily in the paper production process, today announced full
commercial availability of a technologically advanced new series of roll cover products designed
for improved machine performance, better wear and longer, more efficient product life. The latest
range of patented roll cover products are designed to reduce operational costs and maximize the
output of existing equipment, while enhancing product customization capabilities for each
individual customer.

“These latest technological advancements in our rolls business mirror what we’ve been doing
in our clothing business, as we push hard to offer the greatest range of innovation in the
marketplace,” said Stephen R. Light, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. “We are
working closely with our customers to enhance their operating efficiencies and quality, while
significantly lowering their cost of operation and inventories.”

The latest family of roll cover products from Xerium includes:

GEMINI: Gemini’s increased fiber fraction and nanoparticle technology deliver
exponential increased toughness and durability for the most demanding calendaring applications,
while still maintaining superior surface finish. New Gemini nanoparticle covers feature the most
advanced technology available for today’s high performance calendars and supercalendars. With
significantly more high strength fiber reinforcement per cover surface area, Gemini covers are
extremely tough and have already demonstrated superior performance in the most demanding calendar
applications.

GENESIS: The Genesis cover design family with nanoparticle technology delivers
toughness and durability in the most demanding supercalendar and soft calendar applications, while
maintaining superior surface finish. Genesis has the industry’s best fracture toughness, impact
resistance and exceptional abrasion resistance Utilizing Stowe Woodward’s exclusive Thermaguard™
base, Genesis provides the ultimate temperature consistency across the cover face. This
consistency, combined with the improved toughness, gives calendar operators excellent runnability,
efficiency, and improved paper quality.

REBEL: Rebel is an exclusive new generation of polyurethane covers for maximum
tissue machine performance. Available in a wide hardness range and all venting combinations of
suction, blind drilled and grooved, Rebel pressure roll covers provide superior nip conditions for
tissue quality and machine efficiency. The excellent hardness stability of Rebel’s unique
polyurethane chemistry assures a uniform Yankee/Pressure Roll nip over the life of the cover that
is not typically achievable with rubber covers.

XTREME SERIES: Developed by Stowe Woodward’s global research and product
engineering team, Xtreme covers are high strength, extremely tough rubber materials that are cool
running and maintain very stable nip conditions. Xtreme technology is tailored to specific cover
application requirements to provide superior machine efficiency and sheet quality. Designed
specifically for hardness stability, toughness, bond strength, and nip uniformity, Xtreme TS and
Hyperpress X roll covers provide superior running conditions and long life in both conventional and
TAD pressure roll applications.

Xtreme TS is the company’s best overall performance rubber cover, combining the highest bond
strength with outstanding hardness stability, abrasion resistance and damage tolerance. This
long-life cover runs extremely cool and maintains a very stable nip environment which makes it very
tolerant of loading bias and localized overloads.

Hyperpress X is designed specifically for hardness stability using both unique material
science and specific manufacturing methods. Using Stowe Woodward’s superior co-cured bonding
systems and maintaining high material strength, Hyperpress X is a very tough cover tolerant of
loading bias and localized overloads.
