Uster Launches Company, Places HVI Units In China

Switzerland-based Uster Technologies AG has established a new sales and service company in China.
Based in Shanghai, Uster Technologies (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. also will have liaison offices in key
cotton-growing and -spinning locations around China. Uster, which first established a presence in
China in 1981, expects Uster (Shanghai) will improve the level of support it is able to deliver to
its customers in that country.

For the past three years, China has represented Uster’s largest market, generating increased
sales across all product categories, including laboratory instruments that measure yarn and fiber;
and the Quantum yarn clearer, which provides on-line quality measurement and improvement.

Uster looks to its new Fabriscan on-loom inspection system to generate further sales and
improve the quality of Chinese textile products.

In related news, Uster has sold 13 Uster® HVI™ Classing units to the China Cotton Fiber
Inspection Bureau, which is establishing an HVI-based cotton classification system in China to
replace manual classing.
