At 50-percent cotton and 50-percent acrylic, Madeira’s new BurmilanaCo is a cousin to its popular 50/50 wool/acrylic blend, Burmilana. The new BurmilanaCo is a 12 weight machine embroidery thread that offers a hand-embroidered look. Available in 72 colors, it is more economical than the wool blend, is easy to run and provides a beautiful, subtle stitch out. While 65 of its colors are solid, 7 are a soft, stylish mélange of related tones.

With a natural, soft hand, BurmilanaCo is an excellent choice for chenille embroidery, chain stitch, fringing, decorative seams and other special effects. Due to its thicker weight, the use of a #100/16 needle is recommended, as well as slightly tightening the tension on the embroidery machine. BurmilanaCo has been tested and cleared to be free from any harmful substances by the international Oeko-Tex organization, receiving a Class 1 rating, which clears the thread for use on baby clothes.
