The Rupp Report: ITMA 2011 Date Changed

By Jürg Rupp, Executive Editor

Like ITMA Asia 2008 in Shanghai, ITMA 2011 is already in the limelight of the global textile industry. In the Rupp Report published Sept. 18, 2007, it was mentioned that the next ITMA will be held in Barcelona, Spain, Sept. 23-30, 2011. Recently, a press release from the organizers arrived containing the following message:

“ITMA 2011 will now start a day earlier than originally planned, announced show owner, the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers (CEMATEX). It will be held from September 22 to 29, 2011, at the same place, the new Fira de Barcelona Gran Via venue in Barcelona.”

Tradition Comes First
It is new that the dates of an ITMA have been changed after the official release announcing the show. What happened? According to the show organizers and CEMATEX, the change was made in order to begin and end the show on a Thursday. This is more in keeping with the traditional dates of ITMA. Previous shows have always started on a Wednesday or a Thursday.

Change Your Hotel Bookings

This decision was taken by the CEMATEX board at the recent general assembly meeting in Amsterdam, and the associations have announced the news to all their members. So far, that’s the message from the organizers. Hopefully, not all exhibitors have already booked their hotels.
