NewChef Purchases Tukatech Cutter

Culinary uniform supplier NewChef Fashion Inc., Los Angeles, has installed a TUKACut™ automatic fabric cutting machine from Los Angeles-based Tukatech Inc. Features of the cutter include a touch-screen keypad, flexible and compact cut table, independent cutting beam that incorporates the cutting head, a stand-alone cutting unit with intelligent management and integrated power, power save system, self-sharpening knife, take-off conveyor table, control step motion program, and fault detector, among other features.

“This is my second- largest investment besides our building, but we are committed to make it here and stay competitive,” said NewChef Fashion CEO Lucien Salama. The company is participating in an Army initiative to have all cooks wear coats that are made in America. Salama reports the TUKACut provides perfect cuts and is exceeding his expectations.

“We have seen a tre-mendous increase in our domestic business in 2013 and 2014,” said Tukatech CEO Ram Sareen. “Many brands and retailers are bringing development and manufacturing back to the USA. We are meeting their fashion needs with our commitment to design and development by installing cutters, spreaders and our 2D/3D CAD systems.”
