Alvanon Grants Second Round Of Technical Tools To CFDA; CFDA Awards Tools To NYC’s Sunrise Studio And Design Incubator

NEW YORK CITY — December 28 2015 — For the second consecutive year, Alvanon has granted world class technical tools to the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s (CFDA’s) Fashion Manufacturing Initiative. The grants were made as part of Alvanon’s Fashion Fit Movement, a program designed to help restore technical skills to New York City and other global fashion hubs, including Hong Kong and London.

The tools, which include AlvaForm technical fit mannequins, technical grading blocks and Virtual AlvaForms, have in turn been awarded by CFDA to two flourishing New York City-based fashion firms: Design Incubator and Sunrise Studio.

“Alvanon is delighted that two of New York’s most promising and creative fashion concerns are recipients of our 2015 technical tools grant to CFDA,” says Alvanon CEO Janice Wang. “Look for both enterprises tosteadily emerge in prominence throughout the fashion industry. Each has a laser focus on the technical aspects of product development, which helps bring their breathtaking designs to life and their skillfully finished creations to a grateful global market.”        

Design Incubator specializes in garment development, taking design concepts from sketch to finished products. Clients include: Creatures of the Wind, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Mara Hoffman and Timo Weiland. Amy Fong, the founder, has over 30 years of experience in fashion and has helped manynew designers launch into successful companies, such as Proenza Schouler, Rogan and Bonobos.

“Alvanon’s forms are wonderful,” says Amy Fong, Owner, Design Incubator. “They are very well designed. Our pattern makers love them. The other forms we have probably were designed a hundred years ago and haven’t been update by those companies in ages.”

Sunrise Studio Inc. is a high-end sample and production contractor with over 65 skilled workers. Located in New York City’s Garment District, Sunrise’s garment production categories range from silk chiffon to leather, woven and knits. Clients include: Helmut Lang, Proenza Schouler, The Row, Calvin Klein Collection, Marc Jacobs Collection and Urban Zen (Donna Karan’s own collection),  Alexander Wang, Rebecca Taylor and 10 Crosby.
