Hermes Opens Hermes Transport Logistics Greater China In Shanghai

CHICAGO — June 2, 2015 — Hermes, a provider of end-to-end e-commerce services for fashion and lifestyle brands, announced today that it has strengthened its Asia operations by opening a branch office in Shanghai. Hermes Transport Logistics (HTL) Greater China now offers turnkey supply chain solutions and sea and airfreight transportation. Hermes holds a 70 percent stake in the operation, with the remaining shares held by its long-standing partner Jet Speed.

Hermes has long understood the importance of the Asian market, opening HTL Asia in Hong Kong in 2014. The opening of HTL Greater China recognizes China’s positioning as a manufacturing powerhouse and a key player in Asian commerce, driving global trade. HTL Greater China, which will provide value-added services in expanding e-commerce, will market to Chinese retailing clients requiring logistics solutions for their distance selling or looking to procure goods. HTL will draw on both its own portfolio of products and services and the retail-related offerings of other Hermes companies.

Stephan Schiller, HTL’s managing director of Sea&Air, says, “Access is a crucial factor when it comes to choosing a logistics partner to handle one’s sea and airfreight importing and exporting activities. Thus, Hermes seeks to be close to our international clients and serve their needs in Greater China.”

Pierre-Yves Guyennon heads the new Shanghai office. A native of France, he has lived in China for the last ten years.  Considered a leading logistics and commerce specialist, he previously held positions at Militzer & Münch and SAGA CTL.
