WILMINGTON, DE. — March 29, 2016 — The newly designed microscope slide, QCSMS (Quick Cross Section Microscope Slide) Designed in the USA by MIECO, manufactured in the USA by MIECO and sold, by MIECO, allows the user to hold the carpet/textile fibers while slicing the cross section of the fibers exposing a fresh clean view of the fibers edges. After slicing the fibers the QCSMS remain holding the freshly cut fiber cross section allowing the user to view the cross section under high magnification mostly with some type of microscope.
There are a few other styles most of them called “Hardy Plates” that have been sold in the past but mostly had to be made in-house or outsourced to some area manufacturer which can be a long and costly event but MIECO’s QCSMS are kept in inventory and are ready to ship.
MIECO makes these QCSMS from a surface harden stainless steel and are made to a quality that should last the user a life time and on. Other them MIECO you can find others have made Hardy Plates and other tools used for taking the Quick Cross Section of Carpet and Textile fiber made of plastic with some small holes through it to others more like MIECO’s made of a mild steel with a very soft probe made of copper.
MIECO use to sell what was called a Quick Cross Section Plate but they stopped selling this type thinking it needs a better design now after four years the newly designed QCSMS is ready to ship. The profile of the old and discontinued style was 2” x 2” (50mm x 50mm) The newly designed QCSMS profile sizes are much more like a standard 1”x3” (25mm x 75mm) glass microscope slide, slightly shorter then 3” (75mm). There are two size slot width, two slot size length and two slide (or plate) thicknesses.
There are other ways that fibers are cross sectioned one is to set the fibers in some resin and left to dry but with the QCSMS no resin is used (not saying resin couldn’t be used if one wished to) allowing a cross section of the fibers to be cross sectioned right then and there on the spot and or at any location with no waiting hence the name Quick Cross Section Microscope Slide or QCSMS.
