Kaeser Kompressoren GmbH

Coburg, Germany
Hall 1, Booth C104

More compressed air with less energy
There is significant energy saving potential when it comes to the control and adjustment of compressed air systems. Therefore, with its new adaptive 3-D-Control, the "Sigma Air Manager" (SAM) master controller is able to tap into these savings better than ever before. This advanced system, together with a wide range of Kaeser's other high-efficiency compressed air products and solutions, will be on show at the 2011 ITMA in Barcelona, Hall 1, Stand C 104.

The "Sigma Air Manager" not only controls and monitors the air system as a whole, but also provides the user with exceptional transparency of operations processes, energy consumption and costs. The latest version uses Kaeser's innovative and adaptive 3-D-Control which considers the three crucial factors that affect energy-efficient compressor control within a compressed air station, namely: 1. Switching losses associated with compressor start-up and shutdown, 2. Additional energy consumption for pressure flexibility and 3. Control losses resulting from idling and FC losses. In order to ensure optimum performance, the SAM constantly analyses the relationship between these factors, calculates the best possible result and controls the compressors accordingly. The SAM also strives to deliver optimum pressure performance values.

In addition to the standard data visualisation features, password-protected data from the SAM's long-term memory can be retrieved for periods up to one year and displayed in graphical format using Kaeser's optionally available advanced visualisation software. This capability therefore provides the basis for detailed compressed air audits and allows the user to keep a constant eye on compressed air costs and system performance. Moreover, the specific power of all connected compressors or blowers within the system can be displayed in comparison to a reference value. This allows the user to determine at a glance if the compressor or blower system is performing as efficiently as it should be.

Amongst the many other highlights on show at the Kaeser stand will be the latest generation of Kaeser's energy-saving CSD and CSDX series rotary screw compressors which cater to a free air delivery range from 8.3 to 16.1 m³/min (at 8 bar). Visitors will also be able to see even larger machines from the ESD series, which cover free air deliveries from 36.1 to 42.1 m³/min (also at 8 bar). As an added advantage, all of these systems are already equipped with IE3 premium efficiency motors which will become mandatory in the EU from 2015.
