Texworld USA: One-Stop Sourcing Shop

Biannual expo offers textile suppliers and buyers a single sourcing destination for the North American marketplace.

Textile and apparel suppliers and buyers will gather July 24-26, 2012, at the Javits Center in New York City for the 13th edition of Texworld USA. Produced by Atlanta-based Messe Frankfurt USA — the U.S. subsidiary of international exhibition organizer Messe Frankfurt GmbH — in partnership with cellulosic fiber manufacturer Lenzing AG, Austria, Texworld USA integrates Lenzing's Innovation Asia fabrics trade fair, and is held biannually in January and July.

Touted by Messe Frankfurt as the largest apparel fabrics show in North America, Texworld USA presents an international business platform for apparel fabric buyers, R&D and product development specialists, designers, manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, merchandisers, trading companies and sourcing professionals. Product groups to be presented include cotton, denim, embroidery, fibers, functional fabrics, knits, lace, linen, polyester/man-made, prints, silks, silky aspects, wool, yarns and findings/trims. End-use groups include activewear, childrens/infantwear, juniorwear, ladieswear, bridal/special occasion/cocktail, menswear, sportswear and swimwear/lingerie.

Texworld USA and colocated shows the International Apparel Sourcing Show and Home Textiles Sourcing Expo will feature trend forums, seminars, a combined 575 exhibitors and two Lenzing Innovation pavilions, among other highlights.

Three Shows — One Venue
The International Apparel Sourcing Show (APP) and the Home Textiles Sourcing Expo (HTSE), produced by Messe Frankfurt in partnership with The Sub-Council of Textile Industry, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT-TEX), will return to the Javits Center for their third annual colocation with the summer edition of Texworld USA.

APP is focused on the production supply chain for contract manufacturing, private label and original design manufacturing. In addition to these groups, product groups include childrenswear, womenswear, menswear and activewear; knits, wovens, denim/jeans, collections, suiting and contemporary; and intimates/lingerie and loungewear/sleepwear.

HTSE is the only U.S. event focused solely on the sourcing of fabrics and finished soft goods for home applications, according to Messe Frankfurt. Product groups include finished fabrics/components including cotton, dobby weaves, eco-friendly materials, fire-resistant materials, Jacquard weaves, knits, lace, leather, linen, outdoor fabrics, polyester, prints/printers, silk, silk look, synthetics, trims, vinyl, wool and man-made cellulosics; and finished products including bath, bedding, floor coverings, kitchen, outdoor furnishings, pillows, tabletop, upholstery, wall coverings and window coverings.


Greater Turnout Anticipated
The July 2011 edition of Texworld USA was the largest edition to date, with 323 exhibitors from 14 countries, representing a 13-percent increase over the July 2010 edition; and a total of 4,638 attendees — 1,182 of whom registered for APP and HTSE but also visited Texworld USA. Messe Frankfurt is expecting the three colocated shows this year will draw a combined 575 exhibitors and 6,000 attendees.

The 2012 shows are drawing more international exhibitor participation than previous editions. CCPIT-TEX has committed to bringing exhibitor groups from China to all three shows. The Korea Textile Trade Association has committed to bringing exhibitor groups from Korea to Texworld and HTSE; and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan has committed to bringing exhibitor groups from Pakistan to Texworld and APP. Messe Frankfurt also expects government agencies, councils and associations from Turkey, Mauritius, Egypt, Africa, India, Japan and Indonesia to bring exhibitor groups.

Show Highlights
Les Garçons of 2G2L Fashion Design & Consulting, Paris, has been named the official trend partner of Texworld USA and APP. 2G2L also directs the trends for Texworld Paris. Global Color Research Ltd. — a United Kingdom-based color consultancy and color trend forecaster — has been named the official trend partner of HTSE.

Texworld USA will feature a Domestic Resource Pavilion and trend section showcasing mills and converters from the United States and Canada; and a Trend Forum area highlighting the newest collections for the Fall/Winter 2013-14 season.

Since the inaugural Texworld USA in July 2006, Lenzing Fibers has presented a Lenzing Innovation pavilion spotlighting its customers. At the upcoming show, the company will feature two pavilions — one at Texworld USA and one at HTSE. Lenzing also is organizing seminars and panel discussions at those two shows that will be open to attendees of all three shows. Sustainability will be a key theme, with sessions covering sustainable bleaching; what the U.S. Department of Agriculture's BioPreferred® program means to the textile industry; eco certifications; and Greenpeace International's Detox campaign. Other topics include color forecasts for 2013-14; global sourcing; an overview of the U.S. retail marketplace; and how to successfully start a business; among other topics.


In addition, Messe Frankfurt is organizing seminars that will be open to attendees of all three shows. Topics will include sourcing in Southeast Asia; color trends for Fall/Winter 2013-14; and developments in cotton woven and knit textiles.

"Attendees can expect an expanded seminar schedule, offering a combination of Lenzing sponsored sessions, and additional sessions focusing on trends, sourcing and new developments in fabrics," said Whitney West, marketing manager, Messe Frankfurt USA.
