Milliken Debuts FR Workwear Fabrics

Spartanburg-based textile and chemical manufacturer Milliken & Company has launched the Amplitude™ line of patent-pending high-performance flame-resistant (FR) industrial workwear fabrics. The cotton/nylon-blend fabrics, processed without using ammonia, were developed to help protect against injuries caused by electric arc and flash fire exposure, and are targeted for use in such industries as electrical maintenance, manufacturing, petrochemical, steel, welding and utilities.

According to Milliken, independent testing shows the fabrics meet or exceed compliance requirements for Hazard Risk Category 2 electric arc protection for standards ASTM F1506, NFPA 70E and OSHA 1910.269; and flash-fire protection for NFPA 2112. In addition to FR protection, the fabric line offers stretch for improved freedom of movement, as well as enhanced breathability and softness.

“Milliken will now offer a wide range of protective fabrics in addition to CXP®, our FR aramid product, giving our customers a first-rate option from a supplier known for its qualit, shade, color consistency and excellent overall process control,” said Jack Spoon, business manager, Workwear Fabrics.

The first Amplitude fabrics will be available in March in bottomweight and lightweight styles. Additional styles will be launched later this year.
