Asheboro Elastics Acquires Pro-Knit, Teams With SPICA

Asheboro Elastics Corp., Asheboro, N.C., has acquired the assets of Hialeah, Fla.-based elastic manufacturer Pro-Knit, including a 100,000-square-foot elastic manufacturing facility in El Salvador. Asheboro Elastics has retained Francisco Avila and Juan Gadala of Pro-Knit to manage the Salvadoran operation, where they will assist in developing the facility as well as business in the Central American region.

The company also has formed a partnership with SPICA Elastic Pvt. Ltd., an India-based, family-owned narrow elastics manufacturer specializing in woven jacquard elastic and serving major global apparel brands.

“We needed a presence/partner in Asia, and particularly in India,” said Keith Crisco, president, Asheboro Elastics. Pointing out the complementary nature of the partnership, he added,”W e have customers in Asia, and they have customers here. It’s handy for them to have a contact in the United States, and vice versa.”
