US Hosiery And Apparel Makers, Suppliers Promote Domestic Sourcing
“We will be showing a unique booth that demonstrates some of the latest technology available worldwide,” said Dan St. Louis, executive director, Hosiery Technology Center (HTC). “Highlights include items made from corn, bamboo, wool that’s soft and itch-free, antimicrobial fibers, recyclable fibers, … and blends of all of the above.” He said products featuring moisture management, nanotechnology and ultraviolet protection will be on view, and added, “Unique constructions and apparel techniques using the supply chain of fantastic yarns and fabrics create an array of products not typically found in the marketplace.”
HTC, the National Association for the Sewn Products Industry, The Hosiery Association, the Textile Clothing and Technology Center, the National Council of Textile Organizations and the Textile Technology Center are sponsors of the exhibit.
St. Louis said the geographic proximity and rapid supply chain response offered by US-based suppliers enable retailers to keep smaller inventories of colors and styles, replace popular items quickly, cut back on markdowns and closeouts, and increase sales volumes. He also said sourcing from US-based suppliers means “no quotas, no duties and no problems.”
