NV Michel Van de Wiele, Belgium, has introduced two new face-to-face carpet-weaving machines -  the Shaggy Rug eXplorer SRX82 for the production of long-pile rugs, and the Sisal Look eXplorer SLX83 for sisal-look carpet with cut pile and fillings of different colors.

The SRX82 produces woven area rugs with pile heights of up to 2 inches and widths of up to 4.2 meters, using up to eight color frames, at speeds of up to 130 picks per minute. The SLX83, equipped with three rapiers, produces a patented sisal-look weave structure by providing a filling selector on the middle rapier to allow different colors.

In other company news, Van de Wiele has entered into a cooperation agreement with Wilcom-Tecos Belgium BVBA, whereby Wilcom-Tecos will develop simulation software to allow visualization of soft loops, flat weave and cut pile on Van de Wiele's UCL83, CLP81, CRX82, CRX83 and SLX83 machines. Van de Wiele will include the new software in its We@velink processing, planning and network software. The companies also plan further cooperation and development of computer-aided design and manufacturing software.
