Saurer To Acquire Fehrer

Subject to European Union Monopolies Commission approval, Saurer Group, Switzerland, will acquire Austria-based Dr. Ernst Fehrer AG. Saurer plans to add Fehrer's operations including its needlepunching technology and machinery to produce carded nonwovens from long-staple fiber to its Germany-based Neumag nonwovens machinery business unit, providing Saurer with an entree into automotive, carpet and geotextile markets. Monica Fehrer will continue as president of Fehrer, which will maintain its Linz, Austria, location.
