PGI Announces New Spunbond Line

Polymer Group Inc. (PGI), North Charleston, S.C., recently announced it has signed a contract to install a Reifenhäuser Reico IV spunbond line in its Cali, Colombia, facility to meet growing demand in Latin America. PGI said the expansion will more than double the spunbond fabrics capacity at that facility.

According to PGI, the new line will be dedicated to the hygiene market, providing fine-denier top sheet and other materials for use in diapers.

Construction of the new line began in late September. Commercial production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2006.

"PGI continues to see strong potential to grow its business in the developing markets," said James L. Schaeffer, CEO. "This line, along with the previously announced plans to install a third line in China, will provide our company with the needed volume to better serve our customers. "
