Barmag Debuts Line For Rectangular Monofilaments

Barmag Spinnzwirn GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, has developed a new line to use in the production of rectangular monofilaments made from polypropylene, high-density polyethylene and linear low-density polyethylene. Such filaments are used primarily in the manufacture of artificial grass for sports arenas.

Barmag also has a new method for parallel extrusion and winding of six or eight 1,000-denier rectangular monofilaments on a flanged tube. The method eliminates the need to rewind before twisting. A bobbin carrying six or eight filaments is sufficient to produce two twisted bobbins, each having a product weight of 5.5 kilograms.
