Bematek Mixer Facilitates Lab-To-Production Scale-Up

Bematek Systems Inc., Beverly, Mass., reports its modularly designed L-Series Hi-Shear In-Line Mixer for liquids and flowable slurries facilitates scale-up from laboratory to production requirements. Providing continuous, homogenous output of dispersions, emulsions and fine suspensions down to 1 micron, the mixer replaces standard homogenizers used in such operations and provides greater flexibility, according to the company. The mixing head, available in two sizes, offers from one to 12 shear-action zones that can produce shear rates of 200,000 per second each. The mixer is made from 316L stainless steel, requires only a 20-square-inch footprint, and uses 110 single-phase or 220 three-phase power.
