Goldschmidt Chemical Streamlines Production

Hopewell, Va.-based Goldschmidt Chemical Corp., a subsidiary of Degussa Corp., will invest more than $10 million in production at its Janesville, Wis., and Mapleton, Ill., facilities the main North American production sites of Degussa's Industrial Derivatives and Care Specialties business units. As a result, a total of 80 positions will be eliminated at the two facilities. The company hopes this investment will increase its competitiveness in the oleochemical derivatives market and prepare the facilities for the introduction of new products.
