ABB Upgrades Systems At INVISTA™ Plant In England

Switzerland-based ABB is collaborating with Wilmington, Del.-based INVISTA™ Inc. (formerly DuPont Textiles & Interiors) in a turnkey project to modernize the control systems of Invista’s ketone alcohol (KA) plant in England, one of seven facilities at the company’s Wilton site. The upgrade includes a plant conversion from boric acid-based technology to hydrogenation.

With the modernization of the KA plant, all seven facilities at Wilton will use the ABB INFI 90 Open Control system to provide automated management of chemical processes.

“The Invista-ABB initiative will continue to drive toward improved productivity and reduced costs,” said Philip Dadswell, ABB project manager. “At every stage ABB works with the client to achieve shared objectives from project justification to system engineering, procurement, installation, training and commissioning.”
