Macedonia Initiates Privatization PushFollowing the September 2002 election of a new government in the Republic of Macedonia, a new push for economic reform and privatization of industry in that country is underway. Supported by the World Bank, the new government is offering a range of investment incentives to potential investors.Eighteen major businesses, including seven textile or textile-related enterprises, are being offered for sale to the highest bidder, with no minimum price or conditions relative to future operations. The Privatization Agency of the Republic of Macedonia reports the companies have sound assets and readily available skilled workers. May 2003
