Industry Leaders Unite For Research

Industry Leaders Unite For ResearchCotton Incorporated, Cary, N.C.; MillikenandCompany, Spartanburg; VF Imagewear, Nashville, Tenn.; GE Consumer Products, Louisville, Ky.; and ProcterandGamble, Cincinnati, have formed the Clothes Care Research Center (CCRC) to identify the best home cleaning and maintenance methods to extend the life of the fabrics continually being developed for apparel applications. The University of Kentuckys Textile Testing Laboratory, Lexington, Ky., and the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., are overseeing the design and conduct of CCRCs testing procedures. CCRC will share its findings with such technical associations and conferences as the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) and its 2003 International ConferenceandExhibition, to be held in September. By sharing information, the companies can assess the effect of their developments on the entire supply chain. July 2003
